If I was a new car buyer in 1957 or '58, just on looks alone I would've gone for a Chrysler Corp. car. They were, and still are, outstanding in appearance.
Actually, at the time I really did ask my parents why we couldn't have a car like that (meaning a Plymouth or even better a DeSoto) with fins and dramatic taillights. Being 4 years old, it goes without saying that my opinion was of no value in determining a new car purchase.
