  • Vouchers. Attach the money to the kids and let the parents choose the schools. Why does a couple months at a Sylvan learning center for a couple thousand bucks(guessing) produce better results than years and tens of thousands of dollars at a public school. Sylvan is held accountable for results and is rewarded for performance. Remember when working hard got people success instead of how long someone worked in one place?

  • its funny ron paul makes the most sense yet he has the lowest poll ratings??? wtf is up with that and as i can tell online he has the majority of the support, this is a bunch of complete bullshit the democratic system in our country has deteriorated to letting rich dumbasses become presidents because they have money in the bank, like seriously give me a fucking break

  • Ron Paul for the hope of america, Fuckabee is a 2 faced bitch! Ron Paul is the only one that can beat Hillary or Obama

  • Way to go Alan to have the balls to speak up about the injustice of not giving fair attention and time to all the candidates. And it enabled Ron Paul to speak his piece after him. And he made a lot more sense than Alan did after that.

  • Huckabee is right on about engineering school ciriculum to fit the interests/strengths of each student... but he's wrong on imposing art & music on everyone.

Alan Keyes... what an ass hat. I can't believe I used to like him years ago.

  • Scientific studies have proven that students who study art and music excel in other subjects.

  • MAn, Alan you sound like an asshole

  • Yes, it is frivolous, Huckabee. All these people who keep emphasizing art in schools and "teaching it to kids at a younger age" to somehow supposedly prepare them to become more efficient students in the future is total bs. Sure, it MAY (and that's a big MAY) help underachieving students somewhat, but someone who gets good grades all the time like myself gets nothing out of it. Plus, it bores me to tears. We need real solutions, governor.

  • Oh, shit. I mean left-brained. I'm left-brained.

  • All this talk of "save art and music" in school is crap. Students who truly care about art and music will benefit; students who don't, like myself, get nothing out of it. I had to take all these stupid design arts and fine arts credits in HS, and for what?? It didn't help me become a better person or make me any smarter. I'm already smart and would consider myself intellectual. How did they expect art to help a right-brained person like me?

  • no child left behind is a joke...mitt is silly

  • I live in Florida and we bench marked "No Child. . .

Even NP concedes: "Florida, Hawaii and Maryland — and the District of Columbia registered meaningful gains in reading in both 8th and 4th grades."

  • That was NPR- National Public Radio

  • Keyes is an idiot. I learned just fine without church born "moral values". You dont need god to be a good person and you dont need go to be a good student. I was a straight A student and I am one of the most anti-religious people you can meet.

  • So you're a bigot?

  • His answer is related to discipline, and his argument is that it must be based on morals by necessity. We are all happy you did good without morals, but discipline is the issue and also you are ONE person. Your argument should be that you don't need to discipline at all, or you can discipline based on anti-religious based rules, but naturally I would have to disagree with you.

  • Kudos to Dr. Keyes for standing up for himself. If more people would take the time to listen to him, I think they would find that they really agree with his views. Grassroots Republicans have been crying out for a true conservative/"Regan" conservative, not someone who just gives them more of the same. Alan Keyes is the only one doing that. He is passionate, unwaivering in his views, and does not censor himself for polls and ratings.

  • when you put it that way, i kinda like the guy, but he isn't running for prez..he is a pundit, and the debate was for prez, he should have a show for post debate commentary.

  • Dr. Keys is the only one who mentioned the lack of discipline in the schools, which the biggest detriment to learning most of the time. And why do they always ask questions to only a select few candidates. This is repulsive to the free election process.

  • Romney and Huckabee are interesting. I like Keyes' passion ( I think it's genuine and consistent) I think Thompson hit the nail on the head. Tancreto was knowlegable, but I disagree about not inclusing the arts in education.

Any f these men are far more qualified to lead this nation than any of the Dem alternatives.

  • Keyes is there to mess up Ron Paul.. its pretty obvious

  • Could be, who knows what kind of tricks liberal media concoct.

  • AAAahahahahaha... Keyes is a frigggin idiot

  • Blah blah blah!!!! KEYES SHUT UUUUUUPPP!!!! You aren't MLK dick!!

  • Not MLK? That's an understatement. I'm not certain Keyes is even from this planet. Keyes is the same whiney pr!ck he was in his campaign against Obama. Noisey, self-righteous, and without anything of value. Ultimately, his own worse enemy.

  • The debate moderator is not giving fair coverage to all the debatees.

  • Tonight YOUTUBE is censoring...

I hhave been deleted 7 times tonight!

  • Keyes is entertaining, and has a few interesting points, but yeah, he isn't running for president. I don't understand why ithe is up there.

  • He must have had some connections high up in the Iowa gov. And honestly I like it, because he's almost like a second moderator and pointing out how most of the candidates are just saying what you want to hear. Look to which candidates have consistancy of the stances they are now supporting.

  • No Child left behind! Ha! More like teach the tests and give no money to the rest. Ugh. What a farce!

  • If the test has the right questions, looking for the right answers, then teaching to a test is good. It's how many people learned the multiplication tables.

The real opposition came from the Education Union, (Teachers) who were turning out High School graduates who couldn't read 10th grade level. They wre pissed because people were testing their curriculum, and ability to teach our kids. The audacity of those parents!

No, "teaching to a test" is a poor excuse to remove education standards.

  • Alan Keys is just painful to listen to....

  • Alan Keyes is a fanatical religious wind bag! What a laughable clown. He makes the rest of them seem sane by comparison.

  • and how is that different than fanatically un-religious? Wouldn't you agree both are bad?

  • SoutherngentFL, okay, you have me. Fanatics, in general, are bad. Though, as an atheist, i still think religious fanatics are worse. I just get extra weirded out by people who believe in magic, and think invisible people are telling them to do things.

  • Religious fanatics are those who kill those who disagree with them. Conscientious religious people do what every other American does, they come to the arena of ideas and represent them. That's exactly how America is supposed to work. Don't you agree?

It's not wrong to disagree with people, it's wrong to hate those who disagree, just because they disagree. Disagreement is good, hatred is intellectually dishonest.

  • Well said, friend, well said.

  • keyes is not running for the nomination.

thats why including him makes no sense. He isnt even running! He is basically a pundit.

  • HA HA KEYS WAS GREAT!!!! He is just clearly showing how biased the Media in this country is. GO Keys give them hell!!!

  • Ron Paul!

  • I think is was good that Keyes was there. He cam across real strong maybe too strong but at least he tried to shake things up. I was odd that he was there seeing he hadn't been in the other debates.

  • Haha! I like that Keys brought this up, that the Debates are so incredibly biased. PBS is outstanding compared to the rest, but they did exactly like the other networks only to Keyes though. Which ruined there chance to claim in full confidence they held the only truly fair debates. They shouldnt have allowed Keyes in the debate at all if they were going to treat him how other networks treat RP or anyone not top tier.

  • Yeah, he had the right.

Would've been nice if he followed up without an exorcism.

  • What he did, is what I would have done in the audience viewing any of the other debates. The CNN debates were especially horrible. I wouldnt have been able to sit and remain a quiet viewer. I would have stood up and said something in the middle of their ignoring Ron Paul and hopefully in such a way they couldnt easily edit out.

  • When the Fed. sets standards, they are forcing students to learn, you can't force students to learn, thats why they quit school.

  • Huckabee's specialties seem to lie in sound bites, catch phrases, and hypocrisy.

  • why is keyes running for a republican nomination? all he makes me want to do is fund federal mental institutions more.

  • lol

  • i forgot i wrote that. lol to myself.

  • Keyes sounds too much a preacher XD

  • Yeah, he's really playing up that image to an uneasy degree. I don't doubt his sincerity, but surely he knows that he comes off as overblown and pretentious. Too much emotional/pseudo-spiritual pandering, not enough reasoning or sound arguments, I'm afraid.

Gotta say, though, Ron Paul really came off as the most genuine Republican on stage once again. I'm consistently pleased with his statements.
