Phil Coulter said, once. He will remember for this song.
And the best version is from Luke Kelly, but Ronnie dedicate this song, to his old pall Luke Kelly. And Luke will always be remember, in the Dubliners.
I have to agree that this will always be Luke's song. Ronnie does a superb job but I think of this as a tribute to Luke especially when I hear the audience singing along.
Thanks for putting up the full version of ronnies i only found part of it. But as has already been said this is a song with Luke in mind. Not one for the gravel machine heh. R.I.P Luke, Ciaran and Ronnie.
Ronnie didn't sing this song for it to be compared to Lukes version, everybody knows that Luke did the definitive version. This is just Ronnie singing the song his way,and it's good. Ronnie and Luke were two totally different singers, both unique in their own way.
who's luke?

You can see tears in Ronnie's eyes at 4:15 and 5:25.
I'm a little partial to Ronnie and Paddy in general, but this one will always be Kelly's. Ronnie and Paddy are close, but Luke's is immortal.
RIP Ronnie, Luke, Ciaran, and Bobby Lynch

I love the Dubliners so well that it almost hurts me to hear them knowing they'll never sing again on this earth. Jan from Georgia
