@bobywins of course it is safe to visit. The worst thing that can happen to you is to come across with a labor strike, and only at the syntagma square, the most central square of Athens. All the other central areas, Plaka, Monastiraki, the Acropolis as well as the sea-side area of Athens are perfectly safe. Of course all the other places of Greece are also perfectly safe
I arrive in Athens, hopefully, on 11th June for 4 days. I am so looking forward to it. This will be my 3rd visit and the longest. I will be on my own, so I will be roaming about, pleasing myself what I do, when I do it. I will also be in Patras from 9th to 11th June, a place that I have never visited before, but again I am so looking forward to it.

really some of those buildings and roads between 1:45 and 2:15 look really ugly, hardly an attraction, and some of the hotels advertised are far from luxury standards on the world circuit.

The hotel service is Greece is generally very poor, hence why many people with money prefer not to stay in hotels in Greece, but would rather spend time in friends villas or yachts.

So, everything is besides your home. I live near a big super market and 6 cinemas. You go out wearing your slippers and go to the movies. :-) Fast food is besides you. Goodie's, Mc Donald's. the hotels in Greece many fo whcih Ive stayed in are poor even comapred to their neighbors in Croatia.
Compared to Asia and the middle east they cannot be compared.
The hotel service is Greece is generally very poor, hence why many people with money prefer not to stay in hotels in Greece, but would rather spend time in friends villas or yachts.
The spas are fe and far between and the poor quality is typified in this video byu the likes of the Divani a very poor hotel

cannot compared to Dubai, Shanghai, Milano, losdnon or any other major city.
There are no 7* hotels and what their is very few luxury hotels. Greece is beautiful country but hotels are crap that's why people prefer to spend time in luxury yachts. On my travels to Greece I see very few supercars. There are some mildly rich people in Greece ofcourse, but the argument here is the hotels are crap compared to to other countries
My advice is travel outside your little small country.

Hotels may not be as luxurious as those in Dubai, indeed. But, on the other hand, people who go someplace just to stay in a luxurious hotel are missing the point.The best destinations are places without 7* hotels and billionnaires with their noisy cars and mobiles otherwise everybody would go to Monte Carlo and Miami. I'd rather go to Cape Verde and Ios.

Contrary to what many Athenians may perceive there is life beyond Attica. Athenis great for its monuments but certainly not for its modern architecture or buildings shown in this clip, neither for its hotels which are relativeley sub-standard.

I heard so terrible things about Greece and I read all about its history so I risked a trip there and I felt in love with the country. Very sophisticated, the people very nice their restaurants, their shops their cafes are amazing...their subway system is 100 years ahead of this in NYC. They are in trouble so what? So, everything is besides your home. I live near a big super market and 6 cinemas. You go out wearing your slippers and go to the movies. :-) Fast food is besides you. Goodie's, Mc Donald's. They stay open until 1 AM. Pizzas, Roma Pizza, Pizza Hut, I have them all near my home. Beautiful churches if you want to pray. And now the negative part of the coin. Athens is an expensive city. The traffic is a problem. It's full of cars. It has pollution. It's noisy. It misses the parks and green.

There were many americans who impressed by some things Athens offers. First of all you live inside the town and many things you want are always by your side. Cafeterias are open until 1 AM, or 2 AM besides you. The kiosks are open even all night long, so you get your cigarettes, pop corn, buiscuits, whatever even at night. You can buy your medicine from the drugstore without a prescription (unless it is a strong drug, then you only need a prescription). Fruits are cheap, delicious food.
