I know the guys that made this. I saw them plan it, go out there for a month, come back with slide shows of them making it. It was an art art/spiritual project of theirs.Later a pilot saw it, and it got on the news. They never expected it to make the news. The guy had spent a couple of years before that painting sri yantras and other mandalas before that.

And it is not 13 miles long as you said. It is less than a imile.

Amazing!! It is said that the centre of gravity where geographically there is a Sri Yantra formation is at the Manasa sarovar in India. The geometrical precision of this Srichakra is precise. I am an Srividya tantra practitioner and its amazing to see how this esoteric tradition is visibly manifesting in the other end of the planet! I would like to travel to this place to see this! How far is it from portland Oregon?I was in Portland just three weeks back!

when they went to investigate the formation their vehicles and shoes left visible depressions in the crusted dirt. There were no other tracks besides theirs, so it is a challenge believing 20th century people made it without leaving some sort of tracks along the lines of the sri yantra.

Regardless of the origin, the point is, the Sri Yantra Mandala is what it is, and it was manifested respectively on an impressive scale within our sphere, truly a blessing. Namaste brothers and sisters :)

This one is definitely not the work of Bill Witherspoon. Everybody knows that. Even if one of the 10,000 circles that have appeared is the work of higher beings, then it is a time to be happy. Many of the formations that have been made by the circle makers already exist in ancient scriptures from some part of the world or the other, and each one has a positive meaning. I think this should be taken as proof of that the time of peace and higher consciousness is round the corner.

It was made by Bill Witherspoon, an artist, and some of his friends. It did not suddenly appear, but took days to make. It hilarious that no matter what proof Bill offered at the time people still insist that it was made by aliens or something. Bill made the sri yantra, period. No argument at all.

This is ridiculous. Bill Witherspoon made this thing with some friends and a rototiller with ropes and some good measurement. I am not making this up. Bill made this because he's an old TM guy and an artist. It was a cool project that he did many years ago. It was all written up in the local TM newspaper (the Fairfield Source, Fairfield, Iowa) after he did it. It was a piece of environmental art.

This is astonishing. The Sri Yantra is famously difficult to construct even on paper (the construction shown in this vid is one of many techniques). Perhaps a simpler method would be to construct it on paper, and scale the measurements up. This would still be an incredible (and expensive!) exercise in surveying just to lay it out before actually digging the grooves.

I doubt it - it's on a lake bed so it's probably been washed away. (But I don't know for sure)

Nah, it's been washed away by the occasional rain. The exact spot it was made in is noted in Google Earth.
