I wonder if there could be the shmup Sky Assault. This is a manic shooter which features both a life and shield system. Your fighter has shields that protect against shots. If a shot from most types hit your weak spot, your shield bar goes down. The shields will automatically slowly regenerate over time. However if your shield bar is depleted, or you are hit with certain attacks, or if you crash into an air enemy, you lose a life.

No, actually it is not, once you get used to the bullet patterns they are quite predictable.

This is actually one of the easier Cave shooters. I've completed it with 1 credit 1'CC.
