  • thanks..best quality i've seen of this

  • So why is this never ever played in the UK at this time of year?

Best Christmas song by miles.....and if it was the name (Greedy B*stards) that upset the record companies & their delicate little sensitivities then how come they don't give a flying one about any of the mawkishly sick & calculated garbage that gets released at Christmas time?

  • Sorry Pogues and Kirsty - this IS the best Christmas song ever.

  • Please Please can I go back to 1980 !!!

  • lÒl_Í_fÉel_sø_löñÈlý_tOday

  • what can i say now i know where my humour came from god bless kenny

  • Haha, Cookie XD

  • ha ha ha at 1:37.... Genious!

  • oh Scott, Scott!!!

  • Paul jumps around like a rabbit! :D

  • steves using yamaha sg how cool

  • This was the only bright spot in an otherwise godawful New Year's Eve when I was 15, bored out of my skull in a party my mum and dad dragged me to! This came on and brought some sense of joy! God bless Phil Lynott and the dirty bastard that was and is Steve Jones! And of course the gorgeous hot gossip!

  • Bang on yekim. This is indeed Arlene Phillips. I also recall watching the original broadcast

  • My word, remember this from Kenny's show at New Year, big fan of the pistols, so it stuck in my mind, ever since. Who knows, maybe I'll remember it on my death bed.

  • that's not fake snow, it's piles and piles of cocaine.

  • @BurningStarFire Heroin was more Lynots' thing unfortunately.

  • @BurningStarFire Yes, and going up the noses of Scott Gorham, Steve Jones and Phil Lynott!

  • I remember this

  • Yes, the same dance team in kenny´s show apeared in "Killer on the loose" video!

Ages since I saw this one.

Remember kids, Phil, Steve & Paul played together on Johhny Thunders record "So Alone"

  • Wasn't that just on "London Boys"? I can't remember. That's a great record, though. I may be wrong. Steve Mariott ws on there somewhere, too I think.

  • @muaythaimark The three of them play together on four songs. Marriott joins them on "Daddy Rolling Stone." I agree, it is a great album

  • @BlackMonk66 you got any idea where I can get that album?

  • @muaythaimark It's on CD, so you can probably just go to Amazon or something, which is great. I think the record went out of print pretty soon after it was released so it was unavailable for over a decade.

  • Without 1980, I wouldn't have been born!

  • Did he just say Thin Lizzy, The Sex Pistols and the TV crew were drunk?

  • hey if phil lynott had been in the sex pistols they might not have sucked so bad

  • I remember hearing this song on this very show. And also KE saying Bryan Ferry who sang Wait For The Midnight Hour as "that man's a fairy." Blimey! 29 years ago almost to the day!

  • What a awesome start to the awesome 80s! :)

  • Did the girl at 2:59 acted in Killer on the loose video

  • Phil playing without pick rarity

  • the 80`s would not be the best for some of these guys.phil was no longer the coolest cat in town, pistols was just some old punk hero who got lucky, that one time. Scott survievd but were never the same cool sexy sleaze hero again.., but he is still alive. Let us stop and think a moment.,listning to these totaly cool.,laid back sleaze ,glam tune. peace

  • Uh, that was rather ... odd, no?

  • Check out Lizzy doing Waiting for an Alibi on Kenny - good clip and quite a funny start from Kenny.

  • It's The Greedies, not The Sex Pistols & Thin Lizzy. False advertising!

  • Yeah, great to see this again. Kenny was a comic genius and Phil a fabulous songwriter and performer. It's funny when the Pistols broke up John Lydon said Steve would probably go off and be Peter Frampton, well, with that suit maybe he was right!

  • So, after nearly 28 years I finally get to see Kenny blowing Lord Thames to pieces again. Excellent!

  • I Remember Watching This As A Pissed 14 Year Old Punk & Nearly Crying With Happiness,Ha Ha!

Drink Still Does Funny Things Now At 42!

  • Have one on me mate!

  • I don't remember seeing this,i seem to remember a new year one where he had the Boomtown Rats doing Someone's Looking at You.

  • "We wish you a happy new year, we wish you a happy new year... and a happy new year" :P

  • this sounds exactly like their merry christmas song.

    STEVE IS MINE!

  • Man.....I couldnt figure out where sid

or johnny rotten is in this??

  • I'll bet he wished he had that wish for the 80's back!

  • Now there's a New Years Eve Party I wish I was at!!

  • So its not really the sex pistols its just steve and paul.

  • Who, after Glen Matlock got kicked out, were the only musicians left in the Sex Pistols.

  • true but lydon and vicious are the that everyone knows from he sex pistols. They are the ones that made the pistols

  • Malcolm McLaren made The Sex Pistols.

  • Yer but he was a dick and split them up

  • MUPPET! John wrote the lyrics and Steve/Glen wrote the music. Sid was merely 'the gimmick'.

The Sex Pistols were made by Jones/Cook/Rotten/Matlock. Sid Vicious was merely a commercial tool.

  • Rumpraisin. RUMPRAISIN. RUUUUUUMP raisin

rump Hump raisin Cock. Rumpty Dumpty. RUUUUUMP thinks the Pistols were all about Music and talant, Ah tey we're much like the Band yes, hey? Is that who you like. Are you a musician sore rump? Let me guess you play the 7 string bass? can you play you some Geddy Lee on that bass?

  • I thought I was a bit mad, but you're totally bonkers by the sounds of it. I didn't even know a 7 string bass existed. Do you need to know such things in order to "be" a musician.

  • Kenny was a classic, remember his "Worlds Worst Wireless Show"?

  • Ah, and when did you have your sense of humour bypass op exactly?

  • then maybe you should leave, the poor man is dead!

  • Ah bless. Much as I love 'em all, what a particularly white christmas that was...

  • it seems proper they had so much 'snow' on the set ... this is great!

  • Is it snow, or Bolivian nose powder?

  • A happy New Year, all done in the best possible taste.

  • Excellent post. I was such a sad sod in 1979. I was in doors watching this on New Years Eve, but never thought I'd ever see this again.

  • It's very pathetic !! really sucks ! I prefer "jingle bell rock" of Billy Idol !!

  • you really suck

  • Just take it easy, man ! and ....Happy new year !!! ah ahahahahaha

  • musicians take themselves too seriously these days - it's nice when people like this take 5 minutes to do something simply because it's fun.

  • its the darkness masterplan

  • Kenny had his moments, very funny guy, Phil irreplaceable, a legend who should still be with us, god bless both.

  • Brings a tear to the eye to think how fucking all hung up we are in the world now.

  • I agree. You don't find shows like this on mainstream tv anymore, and the same with rock/pop music - you don't get much of people taking the piss.

I'm gonna listen to Lizzy right now, drink a beer and have a cigarette. Yes, smoking is bad, but Lizzy makes me feel like being a bad ass. Normally I'm a complete wuss.

  • LOL look at 3:27

  • was jonesy eatin out tht girl lmfao

  • Yeah he was; the fact that it was prime TV (i suppose)cracks me up.

  • is steve jones the ...whole sex pistols?

  • No, Paul Cook's there too.

  • sex pistol's total decadence

  • I'll tell you what there is fuck all like this anymore and it's a pitty

  • lovely to see this, this is when life was fun.god bless kenny and phil.

  • We should have kept Lord Thames, as opposed to the tepid Lord Carlton. Mike S.

  • Ahh 79 going into 80.Just think of the music we had yet to come! I don't remember this on tv though,i think we must have been having our own big party.I was 9 and thats how it was for us back then.:-)

  • yeah.

  • "a staccato thing going on in the verses" says the last comment.Let's not over analyze this. It's not exactly 'waiting for an alibi' is it. Or 'anarchy in the uk'.

How can such legends create such junk. Why didn't they go on to do more together.

  • it's just some fun! more fun. we need more fun now.

  • Priceless video this. The TOTP version is nowhere as amusing.Plus this version had some slightly different guitar playing like a staccato picking thing going on in the verses.I wonder if Lizzy pre-recorded the music before they went on air?.

Kenny and Phil = geniuses ermm I mean, how do you sepll 2 x genius?

    LOL!

Peace my Lizzy brothers & sisters!

  • FFFAAARRRKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember that on telly from when i was a kid.

    Timeless, fantastic, awesome!

Thanks for posting this, my little boy loves it and he wants Christmas now (in JUly).

It's gonna get a workout this Christmas!

God bless Phil and Kenny, two bloody legends, and Steve, Paul, Brian and Scott, rock on dudes!

  • Phillip Paris Lynott the fucknig king of ROCK. He just soooooooo enjoy himself here. xxxxxxxxxxx

  • That was a surreal experience. awesome, top post.

  • wtf is it xmas already / what happened to summer ? lol hehehehhe why did stop kenny show for bad plp !

  • what a good bloke. he rules. wish he was still abou to push the boundaries. way better than big brother. x

  • gaying it up in P.I.L

  • who needs Lydon when u got Phil ?

  • how do i get this on my i pod

  • I told you guys I was'nt crazy!

  • Wow I have not seen that since it was first broadcast, the best ending to a decade ever.... it all went downhill from there lol

  • Hahaha, agreed

  • Jesus, we saw this when we were kids.

    It's even better now.

3 big CHEERS to the champion that loaded this!

  • The only Lip-Syncher missing on this is Ozzie

  • Kenny, Lizzy and the Pistols. It doesn't get any better than that. If only Lord Thames could make the clock stop.

  • oh yes... But where in the hell was Johnny?

  • Johnny was not by the Greedies Project!

  • Yeah, not much in the way of Sex Pistol, was there? I only saw Jonesy!

  • You obviously missed Paul Cook on Drums then.

This wasnt the Sex Pistols it was Steve and paul with Phil and Brian and Scott. Quite a few Punk band members of the early to late 70's were good friends with Phil and Lizzy and used to see Phil at a lot of Punk gigs.
