  • Wow anybody can get on youtube and tell people to go eat shit and they will,,,that is amazing

  • I love xylitol and use it several times a week. Good stuff people!

  • I hang with Stevia. Agave and other sweeteners effect every person differently. It is very much an individual thing. There are no blanket answers for everyone.

  • i can't believe more people haven't started using date syrup! it's totally 100% fruit and so rich for cooking and baking. unlike other sweeteners, you can pour it right on top of waffles and pancakes and love it up. it isn't in all stores yet but can be bought online at the "organics are for everyone" web site. they usually have free shipping deals.

  • For me stevia, stevia, stevia. I am not diabetic but do have low blood sugar. When I used agave I had a huge crash, nearly felt paralyzed. Never again. Xylitol doesn't feel great in my body either Haven't tried lucuma yet. I will give it a try one day but I have been very creative with stevia. Once you find the brand you like I feel it is sufficient to sweeten.

  • I use banana, any other fruit and the - not so great looking - spinach or lettuce leaves to make green smoothies.

    I compost big time!

  • Though I have had no ill effects, ever...ran into a woman in the grocery store the other day and she offered that it gave her the runs. Investigate everything for yourself. Don't rely on or believe others.

  • My latest 'green' idea/inspiration is making a water garden from an old fish tank I had lying around. If u have any old glass containers lying around use them to make a small water garden or terrarium it's cheap, green and looks soooo neat! Use old vases or jars to make small terrariums as x-mas gifts.

  • We give our border collie everything edible from the kitchen that she can eat. The rest goes to compost. (No grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, or chocolate for dogs!)

Nobody in our family has trouble with agave.

Are there problems with xylitol gum? My kids chew this. Anybody make gum?

  • My dogs get my vegetable peelings and ends of vegy's I cut off! No grapes, onions, or mushrooms for doggies though......toxic to them.

  • Stevia tastes terrible. I couldn't continue using it.

  • I have been using agave for a long time, and I have had no problem with it at all.

  • make cookies or ice cream from the left over almond milk or with the goji's from left over from goji juice, compost left over pulp from juicing and left over foods.

  • As a substute to using wasteful amounts of water, sops and paper products you can sit down & cut up your old unused cotton, silk, linien clothing into various size squares & then clean your teeth, your face, hands, feet as well as your fruits/vegs by putting a few drops of food grade H2O2 (peroxide) in a spray bottle filled with distilled water & spray it liberally on a little piece of cloth & scrub away (be sure not to abuse skin). Also clean cutting board, cabinet top, sink & fixtures .

  • agave really makes me feel horrible! I had to get some brown rice syrup. I just cant do the agave or stevia. strange.

  • I grew mushrooms on walnut shells.

  • I use juicer pulp mixed with raw ground meat for my dogs raw food.

  • I save the skins and scraps from certain veggies i use, and then cook them into a broth and cook rice or quinoa in the veggie broth. YUMM.

  • Well, I usually grate the peels of fruits for flavoring, but other than that, I suppose I'm kind of wasteful. =/

  • COMPOST

  • I compost.

  • Causing very low blood sugars? Did you mean to say very high blood sugars? I'm confused...

  • No, low blood sugars is what the report read.

    Kev

  • Thanks for the reply Kevin! This is fascinating new research. I hope more is coming soon to help clarify why agave has this effect. So many people in our beautiful Raw Food community use agave heavily. Thanks for spreading this info!

  • i would put money on the probability that the study was rigged and they basically substituted agave for processed sugars in a persons diet without modifying insulin usage... also agave nectar is ph nutral... so if your blood sugar drops eat an orange... or a shot of mescal.... hehhe... kidding on the mescal... kinda..

also stevia scares me and i don't know why yet but i suspect it scary longterm side effects that we don't know about yet... that or it is the secret to eternal life..
