  • Good stuff !!

  • love it !

  • The "romantic" style they are wearing didn't really last very long. The original vinyl record's picture had them dressed like this then they changed it. Sadly I own the second version of it...but it was signed by the boys when I met them backstage so it's all good.

BTW they were way hotter in person than in all the pictures and videos :D)

  • yes guys, nothing beats 80's music !!! I'm 37 now, my children love to hear the music of the 80's specially Duran Duran.

  • JT's Rickenbacker sounds amazing....he was ONLY a teenager...fab bass playing

  • Lovin' Simon's moves! Miss the 80s!!!

  • wow... u see that dance tho .. he killlin it tho

  • damn u see that dance tho..... hahahhah he killin it

  • @Judaskill666

but the real new shit hasnt been seen or heard... if it mainstream fuck i wan t nothing to do with it but ... the underground world of production ...wow.. cant wait till all is unleashed

  • Always loved this video. Great bass line & drumming too.

  • @Judaskill666 you cound'nt be more wrong

  • What a 80's classic

  • Duran is awesome. This was my shit. 5 stars!

  • I will always be a sucker for this video. I think that, at that time, with the dearth of images, this video (which Russell Mulcahy really went New Romantic on) is just such a 'got you' type of moment. Love it. Always have - always will.

  • @ Judaskill666

É Isso Aí Falou e Disse , Penso fazer MESMO Jeito

  • first ever DD track. i think they modelled themselves off japan david sylvian. but hey bothe great artists/band/s new romantics all you get now is scruffy trainers and shite. maybe i am getting old eh. keep you garbage.

  • Wow... This is great

  • o.O OMG THEYRE SO FUCKIN GREAAAAAAAAAAAAT

  • I first heard this song when it came out. I was 7 years old at the time. Still think this is their best song

  • a w e s o m e n e s s .........

  • 80's was the best decade ever, i'm glad I was born then even though I was too little to remember alot

  • love the drumm roll at 2.12

  • @Judaskill666 I'm afraid they already did. There's still good bands, don't hate them because their new. In fact, things sounded worse back then. But it had some glamour, or speciality, whatever. Nowadays band may sound more alike, but not worse. Just because there's a lot of shit out there doesn't mean good bands are not

  • @shirokhorsheed Thank you for making my day worse. Though it's an awesome day, don't just go and try to ruin everyone else's day. You're like a Justin Bieber fan, just older and by older bands

  • Comment removed

  • @shirokhorsheed I'm not a troll, in fact I'm a very handsome man. Just wondering how stupid is a person who says "me punk" hear pop music. There ain't no Pop Punk in here, sorry. It just sucks to hear how in love you were with your fav boys band, well nowadays that'd be called 'Jonas Brothers fanatism'. And yes Duran Duran has quite some good songs. Not enough to give me a boner though

  • Comment removed

  • @shirokhorsheed Actually I just got a nice raise so I'm damn happy. And on friends, they write the most stupid ones. It's funny. Btw harrass people? I don't dream of singer's lips. Being a man, not even with Hayley Williams. Don't end the conversation please I'm having fun. It's my 3 youtube minutes per day :)

  • I thought they were ripping off Japan at the time but I bought the single anyway, a vinyl 45 single in 1981, I`ve still got it !

  • duranduran, that`s all... nothing more to say... :D

  • I'd would die to see John in that black leather trousers...

  • man im still a big fan of duran duran :)

    there music is amazingg

  • is thtat John and Simon dancing in 2:54??

  • is that john Taylor dancing with simon in 2:54??

  • guh why does Yasmin LeBon have to have all the $ from Juicy COutoure AND Simon LeBon???? NOT FAIR i tellsya! LOL

  • Look now look all around......great memories from my childhood from this song. My family travelled by car from Alabama to Toronto during the summer of 1983. I collected Duran Duran "buttons" at each stop we made along the way. Loved that my cousins in VA had this song and others on BETA of all things. Duran Duran in my opinion will always be one of the greatest artists from the 80's!!!

  • this video is insaaaane.. looking back from2010...they get a FUCKING A+++++++++++++++++

  • 懐かしい~

  • I LOVE this song - cool video too

  • All these "rock" groups had a very" boring ",a rather simmular sound in the beginning off the 80's,so when DuranDuran became famous with there sound, there was a world wide change in music, nobody sounded (still doesn't)like this. They re unique!!!!a lot off groups are from the 80's,grts to everybody!

  • Haha, I was sooo supposed to be alive in the 80's.

  • 80s icons. Along with Madonna, The Cars, Journey, Def Leppard.

  • @drnrg31 and the Smiths!!!

  • @drnrg31 The Go Go's too.. they were fun!

  • Funny Hair Nick!!

I love John's hair hear ... so sweet

    xD

  • Andy's shirt should make Seinfeld fans proud... Ditto for Nick's!!!

  • they should have more duran duran on rockband games better songs then most of the crap on those games and the only real good ones you have to buy i would love playing this on rockband drums

  • @ludocrat...honestly, I'd choose to dress and move like Simon! I remember seeing them here in Seattle in '84-I was just shy of 20. A month later I saw Adam Ant and a month after that; Billy Idol. Good times, good times! 80's FOREVER!

  • Comment removed

  • This song has the BEST bass line EVER!!!!!

  • Wow..they were so young in this video..

  • duran duran forever!!!

  • thats why were all listenin to the videos and songs of the eighties seem to stick and never fade away and keep popin/ up classs the eighties wish a was back there

  • Still a truly great song.

But that dress code/jerky dance move thang they had going on there doomed an entire decade to weird stylistic oblivion. And I am a victim as much as the next 80s teen.

OK, people might disagree. But just ask yourself this question: if required to choose, would you want to dress and move like Le Bon in this video, or Jimi Hendrix ten or so years before it?

    See what I mean?

  • the 80´s the best!!!!

  • go!! simon go!! ur on earth now baby!

  • I don't remember this--What year???

  • @Marianne1379.....The song was released on February 2, 1981! Not to long before my 12th birthday!! MAN!!! DOES NOT SEEM that long ago!!!

  • @phillygrl69 ...I couldn't believe the next day my son had the tv cable music channel playing the same song without video. The video was the best. They probably thought they looked good with those clothes. I guess we all did. I was 20 then and dressed a little different.

  • @Marianne1379

    Early 1981

  • q de pinga este grupo

  • Glad to see Nick is playing a Prophet-5!

  • This style was back in early 80's, the time when I was in primary school.... Duran Duran was very little while in this style. By the time in ARENA they were much matured.

  • And they actually played real instruments unlike today's hip hop "artists". Can Lil' Wayne even operate a can opener?

  • @Msdeepthoughts

    Doubt it.

  • this was one of the first I saw of them as I was in Europe on vacation as an 11yr.old girl, had no idea what was about to hit me,I was memorized for sure.I thought i was going to marry simon for a very long time....................

  • CruiserLeo2007 you're right

  • Some people make fun of the outfits and music from the 80's, but if you notice that alot of the artists today are almost "replicas" of what was already hot in the 80's such as Lady GaGa...first time I saw her she reminded me of the lead singer from "Missing Persons". The best decade of music is coming around full circle: the clothes and the "sound" because the 80's were the best!

  • @CruiserLeo2007 You are dead on with the Gaga=Missing Persons (Dale Bozzio) reference. As soon as I saw Gaga the first time, that's exactly who I thought of.

  • @CruiserLeo2007 almost everything for the past 20 years has been copied from past times, even tv series are remakes nowadays.

  • @CruiserLeo2007 this is true, but i wish they would bring back the actual clothing style that was worn rather than what we didn't wear and what was popular in the movies, i feel now the cloths are just so exagerated..... not nearly as sharp and edgy as they were in the eightys..... but, i say this but every area had there own thing going.....

  • the bass line alone on this song is the sickest ever...John Taylor is the man!!

  • @UNCSteph Yup...he sure is, just brilliant.

  • @UNCSteph --yeah no one ever gives their bass lines enough credit; just as good as Flea-- seriously, man.

  • Show ! O q posso dizer ;-)

  • ... can you hear me now...

  • love this song on "the business" =D

  • i love there song specially my father he love so much duranduran

  • the singer beautiful country folk clothes is from the argentina and south american "gaucho".

  • @PearljamARG ... indeed...

  • The definitive New Romantic Record..!

Musically, it was all down hill for DD from here; (thats not denying their back catalouge of singles isn't full of synth pop gems), it's just their first release, happened to be their best.!

  • @MG3AEH Good call I agree ..AND this is the best song.....best video....style....best Everything....BUT if those are two guys dancing in the back?....Scratch best video off my list.

  • @MG3AEH don't agree with you personally.... Hungry Like the Wolf, Ordinary World, Come Undone, Wild Boys, Save a Prayer, Girls on Film, Union of the Snake, all superior in my humble opinion. While I do thik this is a superb song as well don't get me wrong :)

  • Nie ma jak stare dobre New Romantic !!!

  • the very definition of suck

  • I love Duran Duran, great song.

  • When I first saw on Dance Fever, I thought they were different. Change was in the air. The 80s was a such a special time.

  • I just love the way he dances.

And he hardly even faces the camera.

  • i don't understand the end where going simon after jumpin ?

  • is there anybody out there trying to get through? my eyes so cloudy I can't see you...

  • this song is epic, a great symbol of the 80s

  • Your all GAY for liking this !!! OKOK OK Im a in the closet DURAN DURAN FAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • I seen this video on Video hit parade when i still a kid

  • The best 80s band.

  • uhh NO..........

  • 1. I like

    2. does anyone else think that the singer looks a bit like Peter Serafinowicz? :)

  • @NueveCatorce ahahahahahaha yes!

  • this song was our "always party "song that we didnt hold any party without this song

  • u must be from like...Newfoundland or some non descript part of the world...U probably liked the spicegirls too...Always party....wow

  • No my friend,i didn,t like Spice Girls ever considering my age,but you have no idea about 80s

  • @divinesin7 Newfoundland is NOT a non descript part of the world. we have the most beautiful scenery in the world. and we know what we like when we hear it. There ARE duran duran fans in Newfoundland. I think anyone who like duran duran have very good taste in music. I don't know where your from or who you think you are, but you should understand what your talking about before you open that BIG mouth you have, and insult a place you have no knowledge about.

  • the first video of duran duran wow my god it makes longtimes 1981 the video clips actual is so different today when we see that it's the medium age but i don't understand the end of the video why the clip cut when simon jump & he was jumpin from higher ? or a special effect of mirror

  • Gurlfren its not that important...Move on..its ok really...

  • so thats how we were meant to dance to this song.....lol.....funky!!

  • I'm a simple puerto rican from Hartford but when I was 15 I was in Love with John Taylor but now that im older I love and enjoy their music more these guys ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cayey108 Oh, I could see my unborn children in John Taylors eyes back in the day. I loved him so hard.

I always thought the music was absolutley incredible but they were looked over because they were pretty. So unfair. Now my 15 yr old daughter listens to my old cd! LOL Awesome!

  • this is the best video ever!

  • Singers cloth looks like some Balkans etno cloth

  • Gaucho gear from south america I think.

  • yes, the gaucho clothes are from Argentina

  • How do you know were you there when they bought the clothes for Duran duran???

  • I love Duran Duran, my all time favourite band.

  • καταππληκτικοι!!!!!!με αυτους μεγαλωσαμε...

  • Those were clothes of the new wave/romantic movement of the U.K.

  • @ladycabbie USA too..

  • It's Roger Taylor at the beginning of the video. He still looks so good.

  • My 14 & 12 year old are singing DD on the Wii...Dude I'm OLD!!!

  • My BFF loved Simon and I loved John. We are now WAY OLD and still freakin LOVE DURAN DURAN!!!!

  • Oh my!!! Are They sexy or what?!

  • is the guy at the beginning of the video the guy from the 80's underwear advertisement.. or roger taylor?

  • @jdohe that is Roger Taylor

  • Yes, I found that out a couple of days ago. Roger actually looks much better than the real Calvin Klein model whose name is Tom Hintnaus. In that ad, Tom has his head tilted way back - for a reason! His face is not that great. Roger's face is great though. I saw a recent bare chested pic of Hintnaus and was saddened by how he looks.

  • Duran Duran Forever!!!

  • DD rules !!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • just think, in 20 yrs, our kids will think our clothes suck, lol

  • Lo mejor de los 80

  • woo hoo SIMON!! love him! woo hoo he was soooooooooooo sexy!! woo hoo

  • I wouldn't call those 80's clothes ridiculous, those were the times however "ridiculous".

80's forever! Down with the 21st crap!

  • I know

Some people thing those clothes are (were) ridiclous, But no they aren't.

    They are even kinda cool

    S, yee i agree 80's FOREVER (btw, i like the 70's too )

  • how about ridiculously awesome?

  • welllllll. OK, better than ridiclous

  • @sonnydaytona You rock man!

  • @sonnydaytona EXCUSE ME!!! OH MY GOD!!! I JUST WANT SAY YOU LIVE LIVE!!! YOU SAID THIS IS RIDICULOUS,,,IT LOOKS YOU ARE 75 OR 12 YEARS,,,I DON´T KNOW!!

  • @sonnydaytona The only ridiculous thing is Nick Rhodes' apricot hair....lol

  • @DIETRICHCICCONE NO WAY! Rhode's hair was the life and soul of Duran. It was like a firey ball of... candyfloss. :/

  • jodidos 80, que hortera

  • Simon Lebon was so hot even in those ridiculous clothes of the 80s.

  • si sunriseble, parece un gaucho uruguayo o de Rios Grande jejjeje

  • Comment removed

  • es una de mis canciones favoritas,me gusta mucho

  • simon lebon in this clip is wearing like an uruguayan gaucho!!!! je

  • Perdona-me pelo Portuñol...me pongo de acuerdo con ustede..kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Duran was and still is a top act. I'd go see them live today, if I could only afford the tickets. lol

  • Awesome Rickenbacker bass!

  • Look at Roger laughing at the guys outfits. 1:53 LOL No really I don't know what he's laughing at. They were so cute in this. Please don't tell me those people dancing in the back are the guys. Please!

  • you mean the pair that are dancing behind 2 of the guys from DD? No one of the pair is a woman and the other is definitely not one of DD.

  • Oh I can see it better now thta you said it. LOL

  • no worries mate. It's a great song.

  • I kno they so did! They knew how to make their fans happy with their music

  • where's Japan Quiet Life when you need it ;)

  • haha, don't be a hater! I was 14 and everyone was in the closet.

  • Duran Duran was my first concert. I was 14 and I was in love with Nick Rhodes!!!!!!!(for those of you that don't know, he's the keyboard player :) <3

  • all the guys were HOT!!! As a kid they were all my boyfriends...lol!

  • I remember when this song first came out, my sister use to play the 45 over and over, the video was really cool for it's time. I hear it today and still never gets old... Cool jam!

  • Such an amazing song :D This song made me a fan!

  • 2009' and this song still sounds awsome.

  • I kno I agree with u, as a bass player I can hardly try to learn the bass lines today cuz there so awful and like theres nothin to them, but back then the bass was like the coolest thing and u always heard it in a song

  • Its simple and the main thing is it is played from the ass....you CANT play bass like a guitar...its a different instrument

  • thats true, the bass is actually harder than than the guitar!

  • Ohhh yes..to really PLAY the bass I think one has to have some natural tendency towards it. Do a search for Louis Johnson bass skills or Larry Grahm...then search for John Taylor on Rock School...... ;)

  • Oh yes then go listen to My Own Way and then Hold Back The Rain from Rio REALLY LOUD

  • yea i've always been really interested with the bass and i think that when ur really into it, the more ur good at it. And I've seen John Taylor on Rock School, and he is rite when u pick it makes the sound come out better. And I love My Own Way thats a good bass line

  • bullshit

i play them all and in MY opinion in order of difficulty

    guitar

    drums

    bass

  • okaay

  • I know, that's what I love about it. That driving bass all the way through, mixed with the synth, and Simon's hypnotic voice? Genius. They sounded like no one else in '81.

  • I wish music today had such nice bass.

  • love the moves lol :)

  • this and ordinary world are my favorite duran duran songs. This one in particular is very underrated!

  • Mine too...I agree with you 100%

  • I agree with both of you. I've always been a DD fan, but never heard this until a month ago. Up until then, Ordinary World was my favorite, not to mention most of Rio.

Killer Mulcahy video...it's a lot like Gary Numan's Cars, which I also love. It must be the Moog sound. BTW, Andy looks odd with blonde hair!

  • Wow, really ahead of its time I must say unlike the crap and garbage out today...man I miss the 80s the best decade ever

  • AMEN!!!

  • I gotta get me sum of those chick magnet pants!
