I dont know If you know this but their is a difference between a Remington 700 and 770. The 770 is the 700's shitty cousin. It doesn't hold a candle to the 700. Value? You can pay 100 dollars more for a much more accurate reliable and better looking gun in the 700. Hell I got my savage 110 for 400 and that's the most accurate out of the box rifle on the market.

Ok...so it's not all picking on you, at Wally world they sell Rem Oil wipes...Basically habdi wipes with RemOil in them. I keep a few in each of my gun cases..they are good for cleanup between full cleanings.
Honestly, the 700 action would have been a better choice for long range shooting. I would have gone with a model that had a heavy barrel. The Bushnell scope on there will be good for a few hundred yards, but if you want to do shots out to 600 yards you may want a scope with some more power. The .308 won't kick that much. You'll handle that just fine. You should look into getting a Harris bipod for it. It's a good starter rifle. To get a good long range "sniper" setup, it will cost $1300ish.
I'm picking one of these up tomorrow. Not in a .308 though, I think im going for the .270. Its gonna be my first rifle so I figured I would go cheap and learn on one of these.
