I think what pardner is trying to say is that what was considered an altered back in the day is quite diferent than the classification today. But, just because this car and many others are basically funnycars with Model A or Bantam bodies on them doesn't mean that they aren't altereds. They're legal currently in AA/FA class. Granted, to me - the new ones aren't nearly as much fun to watch. Thats the stupid sanctioning body's for you though - always trying to make things "safe".

yes point taken. there is still a few of the old style racing at our track. one of the local guys has recently purchased an ex john force chassis and is running it as a nitro altered! oh its wild!!!!!! theres a vid of it on here.
