  • Ha! I love Motor Week. Every show looks like it was filmed in 1991. Anyway, cheesy graphics and voiceover aside, another good review : ) Keep 'em coming

  • It proves that if you want to do something you can if you put out the effort.

Unlike GM, Ford and Chrysler who just bitch about how the UAW is lazy and screwing them.

  • When the Prius first came out I remember all the nasty, snive comments.

Looks like the naysayers are wrong again.

  • In my opinion the prius is a great vehicle, gets great fuel mileage and low emissions. It does what it does great. THis is my opinion, maybe you have a different opinion which that is alright.

  • @solonictoyota9186 I agree but I said that 9 years ago will the idiots were laughing.

  • @solonictoyota9186 I agree but I said that 9 years ago when the idiots were laughing.

  • I have a Prius. Absolutely boring but incredibly useful. Everyday when I step in my Prius to go to school, I always think to myself, "I'm riding a pussy wagon". Then when I get into stop-go traffic along the way and get into the parking lot, I always think to myself, "Thank god I didn't drive my 4Runner."

  • make it unfuckingnerdy looking

  • This car is horrible, and its not even that green. 55 mpg, really? VW is making cars that get up to 80 mpg!!! and there not even hybrids, which means they are SO MUCH cheaper. The prius is a green car alright ( in theory ).

  • @Testdrive98 80mpg based on the European system...its a lot less when you calculate it for the U.S system. You can;t shut a diesel engine off when stuck in traffic either....

  • @Testdrive98 You got ur facts incorrect. Volkswagon does not have a car thats 80mpg.

  • @Testdrive98, Mopeds aren't very useful on the freeway.

  • love my 2010 prius..!!!

    400+ milles whuth a tank!!

i just cant do that whith my old crhysler 300c......

  • @cbcdesign if its so tiring then what you call this. and transporting materials to make the car and import it makes a hell of a lot of pollution.

  • Wall Street is the commodities bandit here. Wall Street will take advantage of the Egyptian turmoil to jack up the price of oil to $120-150 a bbl.

Then the Prius will come into it's own.

Ok you Chevy lovers start bitching at me and call me a Commie.

  • This car is for intellegent folks with money who actually give a damn about the world they live in.

  • The Mindset at GM, Ford and Chrysler is people want big V-8s not fuel efficiency and of course not reliability.

That's why they were beat by Toyota & Honda and how Hyundai.

They will never produce a reliable, small fuel efficient cars or trucks.

And please don't blame the Unions, they have little to say about that.

It falls on Management to change the mindset not the unions.

  • This car is great especially in these times when gas prices are estimated to reach $5 a gallon !

  • ask people who owns prius ,they will tell u .its a beautifully advanced car u can buy for that price.a friend of mine did 74 miles/gallon.i cant wait to buy one.

  • toyota sucks

  • good looking car..

  • just when i thought this car couldnt get uglier it did

  • @randomhero713 Ugly but very effective in what it does, so thats what counts.

  • the prius is very ugly and expensive. a diesel vw polo saves more fuel, is faster and is much cheaper.

  • Why aren't all these vehical options available in the UK?

  • I think this is a car that's simply designed to sip fuel, and I would prefer a diesel powered vehicle over a hybrid for the time being. Current diesels have more usable torque, and lower sticker prices with less compromises than hybrids. There are cars in the European and Asian market than get much better fuel economy like the Volkswagen Polo Diesel.

  • this is how a car review should be!

    an excellent review

  • Cool and best car 4EVER

  • @huuyyoo coolest? no, best? definitely not. worst cars ever to be seen in America with a bunch of airheads driving them thinking their saving the planet

  • @krtbossman I drive a prius and do so because I drive in the city about 17000 miles a year. I save $1100 a year on fuel. It is a great car to drive and I save A LOT of fuel. I think if everyone drove one, we would be able to increase our national security by not relying on outside sources for oil. I really think you have been listening to airheads like Rush Limbaugh who don't need to worry about the cost of fuel and also don't worry about how many soldiers die to fight the next oil war.

  • @genogeno1234 Ok so relying on Asians making Toyotas is really a good way to keep jobs here...nat. Its Un-American Liberals like you that make me sick.

  • @genogeno1234 and if you were, smart, diesels way better and you dont look like a douche driving them.

  • I have a 2010 Prius II and it is truly amazing. I am 6' 2" tall and kinda heavy at 220 lbs. and there's plenty of room. I've been getting about 48 mpg in suburban driving. I had to pay sticker, 23k, but that's a good price for what you get IMO. The Fusion Hybrid by the way starts at 28k. Ford should make a Focus hybrid, with a price comparable or below to the Prius and Insight, they'd sell a bunch of 'em.

  • That's a lot of car for $23K.

You cannot beat the range of a hybrid (also, my V-6 Tacoma got dusted by a Prius on a hill with an extra passing lane).

I am considering all electric, including the Nissan Leaf. Less range, but with it, no more I.C.E. engine maintenance and expense.

I uploaded a video on the battery swap technology that Renault/Nissan is working on.

I wish my government, Big Oil, and AmeriCar Co.'s did not favor huge profit over real solutions.

    Oil imports = ~80%.

  • I like these guys. Motorweek has been one of the few car reviewers that strictly give consumers the facts without a lot of biasness.

  • one of the smartest cars ever made.

  • I do agree that this generation looks better than the previous. However, when I tried one in a dealer last week, the steeling wheel is way too low. I have to flatten my wrist, which got pain in 5 minutes. Also, I am confused that the prius V doesn;t have the solar panel roof option.

  • Couldn't you just adjust the wheel? But I think the V does get the solar panel which is a nice feature. =D

  • I think these look better than the last body style.

  • Comment removed

  • I just bought the 2010 prius, and I will be testing the mpg on my long trips this summer.

  • Why isnt GM, or Chrysler making a FULL Hybrid like this?

Gas price explosion, and they had nothing to offer.

Chrysler made a partial Hybrid linked it with a HEMI V8 & put it in a pickup truck, WTF???

Short term CEO pay linked to profits, no long term thinking.

Why not offer the Dodge Caliber as a Full-Hybrid?

  • GM is apparently full of idiots...the economy hops outta bed and turns its fag on...and GM does what?...they put out more suv's ..WTFAIL???

  • @lifeseeker1 Yep, good point. I seriously believe that the U.S. auto industry doesn't want to compete against cars like the Prius. The Fusion Hybrid doesn't compete IMO since it's base price is 28k whereas the Prius is at 23k. It's also made in Mexico. The only competition are other foreign brands like the Jetta TDI and the Honda Insight for example. We gotta' get with it, and soon.

  • @lifeseeker1 They probably didn't think that Honda's and Toyota's hybrids would catch on.

  • @lifeseeker1

GM's GMT hybrids are full hybrids.

  • @lifeseeker1 these cars dont make the "so called" 40 mpg that they say. a BMW M3 will make better fuel economy than this on the highway. A diesel VW will make 70 mpg (and that has been proven). Also the electric motors that they have produce CO2. And not to mention the polution is created to make one of these pointless vehicles.

  • You should stop watching Fox Newsless and listening to Rush Limpdick. You are losing your grip with reality.

  • @CoyoteMan50 i listen to rush bitch and who watches Fox news?

  • @xbatman1x Waay too much top gear man. You talk like youve owned a Prius and compared.

  • @Ramos2905 i wish i had one to dispose of

  • @xbatman1x Ive own one since march 2010. Use it. Then throw it away. Low cost maintenance. Driven conservatively/normally it really does get 50ish mpg. Driven hard (mail carrier quick stop n go everyday) between 38-43. So its a buy. Boring Yes.

  • or just buy a 95 civic lol...great on gas and reliable

  • I could not agree any more. At least they are trying unlike Toyota with their VERY conservative styling and driving experience.

  • you are seriously blaming toyota for putting out a environmentally friendly car?...are you 9?...don't be a moron..a prius does exactly what it does.....act as a full hybrid...it never claimed to be a fun car...but a hybrid...

  • Wake up man. If automakers were not all controlled by oil companies and lobbyists, the internal combustion engine would have been scrapped many years ago and we would be driving electric or alternative fuel cars. The Prius still relies on fossil fuels. Hybrid technology is just a stop gap from the internal combustion engine and It's not really a solution in my book, even if it is much more efficient.

  • I meant to sorry why burn any gas when you're NOT moving. And you don't have to go really, really slow in EV. You can get up to about 25 mph.

  • I use EV mode for traffic snarls and like that. If you're moving why burn any gas at all? Put it EV mode and move along. Don't overuse it, the car isn't really made for being driven constantly in EV. Eco mode is the standard and it works beautifully.

  • why are there three different modes to choose from? It's sooooo hard to decide, do I want to drive slow, be eco-friendly and rescue the whole world with my car or do I want all 98 horses, power, and speed?

  • It's not that hard; the EV mode doesn't work unless you're driving really, really slow anyway. So your choices are really the ECO mode, which is the default, probably best for all-around use. The Power mode favors the gasoline engine for quicker acceleration.

  • prove it it cost 40 k!!!! prove it!!!! sorry bro, haven't u hear tejh news? GMC stole money from us to survive! i odnt trust a company like that, TOYOTA didn't asked for money to keep up, and now is Number 1!

GMC sux, American cars are built so bad, Japanese are better with technology.

  • i luv the prius, only thing i dont like is the seond half of the car.

  • and yes!!! teh facts for that volt? u forget to say it costs $50 k, sorry for taht price im getting a BMW or Lexus

  • it costs 40k and with a government discount irs around 35k

  • Why would anyone want a BMW?

  • Drive one and then you'll understand.

  • Just wait one year for 230 MPG it's worth it

    Chevrolet #1

  • I have a 2007 model and it runs like new. Its quieter at the light than my lexus and it fits my mountain bike in the cabin.

ah i love this car. 2010 must be a gem!

  • Now THAT'S what I call progress/evolution!

  • I just traded in my 07 Mercedes E class for the 2010 Prius IV. I must say I love my Prius, I can see why people who have owned a Prius brag about it. I don't have any complaints about the car, other than they run out fast, so you're limited on the car and base option.

  • Wow..how do you like it.....how good are the lights are they ok...i wanted to get the led's but there not avalible on that model....did you get the sunroof.....if so how does the solar powered air work...

  • The lights are fine. I will look at my features... I think they're the led's, but I will get back to you on that. I have it fully loaded, and the solar power ac works great. I like that the navigation way better than my Mercedes one they put in. My mom wasn't happy that I got a Prius. She wanted me to stick with getting a new Mercedes. I usually do leases cause I don't like older model cars. I feel good about my decision even though my mom was trash talking. LOL

  • Oh ok. Yea you don't have led lights they only come on the prius that parks it self.

  • I was going to get the 5, but honestly it doesn't come with the solar roof, and the solar roof makes the car appearance look better. I also thought the self park thing was stupid. Now, if only I can convince my fiance to get rid of his range rover. bleh. lol

  • Are you planning on getting a Prius? The 5 is only 2,500 more, but they do not let you have the solar roof (I already asked many times). So far so good, a lot cheaper than my benz, and I feel somewhat more consciousness of what I'm doing for the planet... although my friends who don't believe in global warming are making fun of me for getting it, but I don't care. ;)

  • I'm getting the iv with the solar roof and navigation. With grey interior and white exterior.

  • my mom wants one...lol and im starting to want one to.

  • DAmn thats a lot of options!

    The future is now =)

  • ah fuck it turbo it too prius RTurbo man that's a nice body -_-

  • i think it sucks big time that you cant get the Prius V with solar sunroof!!!!!

  • i asked toyota that question and its cause it takes away from the mpg's

  • i just got one and I AM IN LOVE WITH IT

  • You think it has enough electronic options? My God!!

  • I noticed they showed the basic Prius at:

    2:00 - 2:07 mins

    3:25 - 3:32 mins

and the top-of-the range Prius at all other times, from the alloys and the front fogs.

    (Yawn!)... sorry!

  • Why the loss of 2.5 inches rear seat room?

  • Great review for a great car!

  • its a great car but its just that it doesnt look that sporty..ya know

  • ...Are hybrids supposed to be sporty?

  • They tried to make a car with the lowest kinetic coefficient of drag.

  • I prefer the option of keeping my van and walking more or buying a simple compact like a Focus or Corolla. Prius is too more of a statement than an answer.

  • Good old John YOU ROCK!!!

  • My first 3 kids were conceived inside the Prius, the Prius is so hawt.

  • oh for all the people saying that the prius is not a real car why do u want so much horse power if u are doing to be stuck in traffic half the time

  • and for going to the grocery store.

  • @samyear All that horsepower and no space to gallop. :(

  • I like the dashboard´s interior layout, so futuristic.

  • oh so we are not suppose to advance and make things better

  • I honestly think that this car isn't that bad

  • if scion made a hybrid, then it would look like this

  • Considering Scion is a branch off Toyota, I'd imagine so...

  • Are you serious? This car does suck, but it's meant to suck to save gas. If Toyota wanted to build a fast car, they could. I know, I own one.

  • 98hp gas + 36hp electric = 134 HP total
