  • I'm still waiting for the sheet music...

  • @Anon9988 You too?

  • @byurefcezarc the album has alread been released. You can find at the ocremix website

  • @45tailsfan Yeah, but the sheet?

  • For some reason, this songs makes me think of Dream Theater.

  • It really doesn' t remind the ice cap zone soundtrack, but it' s a relaxing and awesome performed on the piano, sound. Great job!!

  • 2:10 Sonic 1 (Master System) stage Scrab Brain

  • This is a really nice track, but I'm not quite hearing the resemblance. Maybe I should go back and play S3&K, so that I can hear something.

  • This should have been used when Chip died in Sonic Unleashed, not the triumphant music they really used.

  • Sounds more like the Sonic Adventure version.

  • Turn on the snowflake option... Insta-success. <3

  • !!!??? I dont wanna ruin this happy fuzzy rainbow unicorn kitten puppy moment, but HOW ON EARTH IS THIS ICECAP ZONE!!!??????!!!!

  • @IainStudios You need to play the level, and listen to the whole song. It's also an arrangement, not a rip of the entire song. >.>

  • Wait. I hear it! The Tempo has get been slowed down and other Notes have been added. It's truly a work of art.

  • I like the song, but I just don't here the Original in it.

And No one had better accuse me of not being a sonic fan for that. I've played the original Genesis games my whole life, have every theme from the Genesis games memorised, and have been able to draw the Blue Blur from the Age of Five.

  • 0:42 - 0:55,

    1:20 - 2:06,

    2:42 - 3:42,

    3:50 - 4:30.

Clearly, these are more proof of Ice Cap in the remix! Some people need to sort out their ears. Then again, I shouldn't complain - look how massive that Like bar is compared to the Dislike bar.

  • @HyperShan3 now as you can see thats how good video's like bars are

  • it's a pretty good piao arrangement of the song but i think it just out of the idea of the original song.

  • @PeterGriffin60 I would accept that dare, only I live in Fl IT BARLEY SNOWS DOWN HERE! D:

  • I am crying to this song. and my penis too!

  • 3:46 Ohhhh there it is! haha still love the remix tho XP

  • this sounds more like an original master piece than a sonic remix lol

  • Beautiful rearrangement. I can hear parts of IceCap at times (obviously at 3:52) but the overall feel of this version sounds more like a prelude or dark reprise.

  • It does't sound sad, It sound like something else...

  • Who ever made this song, deserve an WIN in giftbox

  • Honestly, I like Icecap 4 life better.

  • 3:11 *my english isn't good* isn't that Volcano Valley Zone from 3D Blast O.o

  • It's in there, but very faintly. I't's hardly familiar though.

  • People, how can you not hear the original song in this?

  • i CAN'T hear the original :( but i LOVE this song :)

  • for the record i can hear those who can't ARE NOT TRUE SONIC FANS!!

  • What the hell guys? Why is everyone saying they can't hear the original song at all? The original song in its entirety is in this remix, plus more. If you can't realize this, you need ear training.

Besides, the objective of OCR is not to straight on cover original songs. If you want that, listen to 99% of other "remixes" on Youtube. People just slap some synths on a MIDI file they downloaded and call it a "remix" Creative arrangements like this are what get my attention.

  • @cryptonomicon25 well that's the thing isn't it, this isn't really a remix and more a rearrangement, but honestly the reason people are saying they can't hear it is because they aren't listening to it past 20 seconds i suspect. or possibly their ears are full of shit as you remark.

  • I don't understand people that say they can't hear the original in this. You guys need better ears.

  • It doesn't even sound like the original music, but on it's own, it's a REALLY good song.

  • what is this? the ice cap zone is the most awsome song in all of sonic, I want a rockin out remix, not some piano, not saying it's a bad song, I just don't like that such an awsome song was made into something I couldn't tell the original from

  • For a Sonic song remix: not what you'd expect. For a song in general: Absolutely beautiful!

  • Does anyone know the name of the OTHER VERSION of this song??? You know, they apparently chacnged the Icecap music after the whole Micheal Jackson case

  • This is beautiful, maybe it's not a clear "remix"

    But such an awesome song

  • @somesortachipmunk because srsly what?

  • 13 people no longer have any feeling.

  • 13 people didn´t feel the feeling

  • JUST Beautiful, this songs makes my soul want to cry. *tears of joy* 5 stars

  • @Excalibur78059 Never associate a badass game with a not so badass game, last time somebody did that, Chuck Norris divided by 0, and the universe exploded. And that's how the dinosaurs died.

  • Is there any way we can get the sheet music to this? I would love to play this on the piano!

  • @TheManOfManyCheeses Try asking here wwwDOTprojectchaosDOTinfo

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever made. I could cry and listen to this all day. Simply amazing.

  • Its Sonic the Hedgehog meets Kingdom Hearts; purely beautiful in every way!

  • i dare somebody to listen to this on a cold snowy night with a bunch of abondoned kittens by you...if u don't shed more than a single tear then ur not human

  • @PeterGriffin60 I think i would die laughing of just how ironic the situation was XD

  • @linkomega123 i would have killed those kittens, and write PeterGriffin60 with the blood

  • @PeterGriffin60

    AAAAAAAAaa im already crying

  • @faisalabulaziz1 ME TOO!

  • @SuperRockchic101

now this guys idea with this song is sticking in my head for a long time now i love cats and thinking about those helpless cats on the street oh man........

  • @SuperRockchic101

    what ? lol

  • @faisalabulaziz1

    Nevermind

  • @PeterGriffin60 That's awfully specific....

  • @PeterGriffin60 Snowing now, do fish count as kittens?

  • GREAT

  • This song describes the failed relationship between Locke and Lara-Li (Knuckles's parents).

  • Besides the chord progression there really isn't much of the original song in there.

Great piano though I love it

  • @TeamBlackster Think of it as more of an impressionist's view on the song. Much like the how the Theme to Meda of Honor was done. I agree, this is a pretty impressive song.

  • what the heck - above and beyond my expectations. Love the piano!

  • 13 people have no capacity to appreciate such an exquisite piano arrangement of one of the most popular Sonic stage music tracks to date.

  • @MegaJessness that got ruined by a boring piano track that doesnt represent icecaps song in ANY WAY

  • @IainStudios Then you obviously weren't listening closely. This is supposed to be a remixed arrangement, therefore it doesn't have to follow the melody note for note, or even be at the same BPM.

  • not gonna cry *sniff* not ...gonna...cry.....

  • Tim Burton meets Sonic the Hedgehog. hm...

  • I hate to be 'that guy', but this a pretty poor interpretation. Sure, it's very beautiful and well arranged, but I had no idea that it was Ice Cap zone until 4 minutes in.

  • @Thicketford You can kinda hear it from the beggining

  • I love this piece :3 and i can see Ice Cap near the end of the song, it's just rearing up for the big ending, it's like the piano is personifying the snow, the coldness, the beginning sort of puts the snowboarding section in place, when it starts you get on the snowboard go down the first part, when it hits a lower note it means yer going down the other way, and returning the same direction. When it stops, it means you went over the cliff of the first, on the end of the intro, it means you hit.

  • @SuperVegeta5425 the wall at the end, and the snow comes down on you where the piano hits down like that. at 0:38. Then you get out of the snow pile, going through the zone as the piano picks up. When you enter the quiet part of the piano, it means you reached the bigger rooms of the zone. By 1:40 i can hear Ice Cap's original tone in there. By 2:25 you've reached the end of the act. 2:50 I hear the Ice Cap tune again. After 3:10 I hear it more as it gets quicker. after 3:40 you'll hear it more

  • @SuperVegeta5425 After 4:18 it means yer around the end of the zone. (As if Act 1 and Act 2 were one whole act) and winning against Robotnik, with finally slam of the piano you un-capsulize the animals. And THE END!

  • 176 people sliped on the ice. ouch

  • I couldnt tell if that was Ice Cap but it was emotional...So POINTS

  • It's more like volcano valley zone from Sonic 3D Blast!!!

  • sorry , but this sounds nothin like ice cap , honestly beautiful as hell though

  • 9 mario fans misclicked

  • Do you know where I can get the piano sheet music?

  • Ice Cap. One of the best Sonic Songs ever. You notice now that the only good songs anymore are the Final Boss Themes. And Knight of the Wind. But in the good old days, all the songs were good. Maybe Sonic 4 will surprise us. Now, lets just listen to this amazingness

  • I have started writing up a score for this piece. Unortunately i can't post the link here so send me a message if you would like the link and i'll try and send it to you

Please feel free to check it out as I progress through getting it written up. Some of the parts don't sound right and may look overly complicated because i'm writing it and trying to make it sound right on the playback. It's a half decent attempt and please feel free to comment on any improvements that could be made. Thanks.

  • Somebody has got to transcribe this.

  • I played about the first two minutes of the song on the piano after sorta working it out and playing by ear. It's a nice song to play when there's nothing to do, or of course, just to show off!

  • @Champ3I3 Did you by chance remember what the intro was? I've been trying to figure it out

  • @Jcrexxor the first four chords are E minor, D major, C major, B Major with the responding chords note played before the chord in the left hand. The next set of chords do the same thing except this time, the chord sequence is E minor, G major, D major, B major, then a G and F# on two octaves back to the E for the next sequence. Then it's the same with the first sequence of chords but at the end of the sequence, you play an A and a G on two octaves.

  • @Champ3I3 wow I had it all wrong I was playing C octaves then Bb octaves then Ab Octaves then G. Hmmm I figured it out from what the original song goes like. I guess I need to rethink it

  • @Jcrexxor i'll send you the link for the site where i'm making it if you want.

  • @Jcrexxor CONTINUED... The next bit is hard to explain without writing it out on manuscript and I can understand if none of what i just said made much sense. Does anyone know any good sites that allow you to write manuscript on the computer?

By the way, this is in a seperate message because I ran out of characters. LoL!

  • I like this piece as well as your other work. Is there a way to download these songs?

  • This is absurd. I listen to remixes so I can heard a favorite song interpreted differently. This is so out of the ball park I forgot what song I was listening for. What a shame, one of the best of sonic songs of all time.

  • i can hear ice cap perfectly why are you guys complaining?

  • @DerianX19 So your saying if you never heard this remix before and someone just played it to you without saying what it is you would know that this is Icecap. Im not saying it is a bad song but I cant even begin to hear Ice cap in here,

  • @DreamKing2 From 0:00 to 0:30 is the beggining part. Then Hetcenus just makes other parts of his own. At 1:26 the main melody of ice cap starts then at 2:07 it stops.

then Hetcenus plays a little with the beat of the song. at 2:44 the melody starts again. at 3:17 he plays with the beat again(adding new stuff). At 3:52 the melody starts yet again but this time he adds some notes that makes it better. the other part has notthing to do with the song but its a nice touch.

  • @DerianX19 I didnt ask that, I asked you if you could say yeah that ice cap right off the bat without anyone saying anything. At the time i didnt listen to the song all the way, it wasnt in till about 4:20 till i could hear any ice cap. Even if you say that there were part that they used it, that doesnt help because it is too over shadowed by the style this guy has chosen. Im not saying this is bad, but as a person that has been listening to this song for about 16yrs, i could not pick it out

  • I don't know about you guys, but I got into it only when the main melody started at 3:52 :P

  • About a minute and a half into the song, it started to rain outside. This song is magic.

  • Minute 2:11 A well introduced remix of the master system scrap brain.

  • almost sounds like the end of Faith No more's Epic

  • If i was searching for a sonic remix and found this, I would be disappointed. If i was looking for one of the best emotionally beautiful songs, I would have found it in this song. Awesome!

  • @Champ3I3 project chaos is very good most of the time but they do get a little to far frlom the source material. sometimes they just go on irrelevant guitar solo's for over half the vid.

  • @waldoman7 Like Malicious Fingers for instance, which i luv sooo much! it's really the Daniel Baranowsky one's that i can't stand rly. Lyrics don't go with any sonic remix. They're just unnessesary. Rate me down if you don't agree. Haydn and SnappleMan in my opinion are the best Chaos Project ReMixes.

  • @Champ3I3 exactly. I do adore malicious fingers, but the parts i enjoy most are teh parts that remind me of the games. Obviously we want more than just a guitar playing the original tune, but it should all tie together and sound like the natural evolution of the original music.

  • As much as I freakin' love this song If someone played this to me without telling me what it is I would never have guessed it was supposed to be icecap, but I repeat I freakin' love this song

  • I agree that Hetcenus doesn't make stuff that we'd expect from a stereotypical Sonic re-arrangement, but at the same time...

I absolutely love his stuff. I find it so cool to hear videogame themes transformed into professional piano solos.

  • It always reminds me of some of ZUN's calmer pieces of music. Especially "Border of Life" springs into mind.

  • @matteste

Such peace put into this song... far passes Border of Life... sorry. Its like... our hero died... but we know he is still alive... we have a hope... Sonic the Hedgehog is still around. So sad... but... so peaceful...

Border of Life is great. Now I see how this reminds you of it. Its fast tempo... its like... Sonic is back... Or something.

  • Beginning at 2:10, there's a theme from the 8-Bit version of Scrap Brain Zone.

    pretty cool!

  • Blacksmith, your dead on. This song and Beneath the Ashes are 2 of my favorites on this album. It is simply moving.

  • Right now, a chill ran up my spine, this song is amazingly beautiful! Certainly Hetcenus has put a lot of emotion in this song. Look, some said that you can't recognize the song until certain time, but I say that if you are a true Sonic fan &/or a good listener, you can uncover the original song, that remains along the remixed music context.

  • Great music, just not IceCap. Hasn't got enough of the original to justify it being a remix.

  • This is fucking epic. Beautiful. Shoulda took this into the Ice Cap zone rather than the original music. ^_^

  • I disagree. All the Stages are usually supposed to inspire a more upbeat progression. A solely piano song is, by default, not good for a Sonic level.

As for opinions on the song... good remix, but the intro was EAR-SPLITTINGLY harsh. It got much better by the end.

Honestly I think a song like this is more likely to be heard in an RPG like Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy.

  • Hmm... if I recall, there were a few stages with more...calming music. I forget which ones. Though I can see where the transition from upbeat to dulcet may be a bit startling. I dunno...I didn't find the intro ear-spitting at all. XD Turn your volume down?

  • nothin to do with volume, it's just a song that is supposed to be as calm and serene as this one doesn't need to have an intro that sounds like your banging on the keys too hard. there are easier ways to make a piano piece bold besides doing that.

and I've heard calming music in Sonic games, but not on this level... I mean, there's a time and place for such songs. That certainly isn't saying this remix isn't beautiful, I just couldn't see it in a Sonic game.

  • Piano would work for the shrine of the master emerald I believe.

  • You just don't get it, do you?

Project Chaos wasn't made to make high-quality, "better" versions of the tracks. It's a collection of the tracks, REMIXED in all sorts of styles.

  • @CCrockyourass If we were voting this on a piano piece, the intro kills my ears. and if I were to critique this as a piano piece, I'd say that there are better ways to make it "bold" then banging on the keys. That was my only criticism. The rest of the piece is great.

I understood that the idea of the project was not to create re-done versions of the same songs. I was replying to the people who said that it SHOULD be in a Sonic game, which is not the intention of the piece.

  • No Respect? Seriously folks? Do your ears not work or are you just looking for something to insult? It is a good remix and if you don't like it than make one better.

  • I personally feel bad for Hetcenus, people keep bashing the music they help with when, the people really shouldn't.

If you can hear the original music or not you HAVE to admit its a great song.

Personally, and I know I've stated this before, I think this is an epic remix.

  • everyone will find this an amazing song if you'll just try to stop thinking of it as a remix.

  • see, the thing is, it's supposed to be a remix.

  • says who?

  • This is a shit "remix" of the song.

Good piano skills, and I guess good song.

But terrible, shit attempt at remixing Ice Cap.

Doesn't even come remotely close to sounding like it.

  • Obviously you didn't listen to the melody Closely.

Plus it is a remix after all - it would have some original melodies & differant instruments.

This is what makes it stand out from the original; it is different, yet at the same time, simular to the original Ice Cap Zone versions Act 1 & 2 (heck, Act 2 is a sort of remix of ICZ Act 1).

  • @Peoplesuuck and ppl wonder why some good videos get bad comments, because jackasses like you can't just keep their traps shut, here's an idea so basic even you can understand it, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all, got it?

  • @ultimahedgehog14

No, I'm stupid. I don't "got it". And besides without people like me in this world, who would be left to troll people like you?

  • @Peoplesuuck

Yeah real nice on the crappy sarcasm, somewhere without ppl like you trolling me or others would be a really good idea, no trolls at all is basically what non-trolls want, I'm not continuing with your immaturity and I'm just going to stop here

  • For those who can't hear Ice Cap in this, here's what I can recognise:

0:00 - 0:35 - Seems to be bassed on the bassline of the intro.

1:25 - 2:04 and 2:43 - 3:15 - The right hand is playing around with the lead melody. It's changed a fair bit, but it's still fairly clear.

3:15 - 3:40ish - The right hand is playing with the intro's bassline again.

3:52 onwards - The main melody comes in again. This is probably the easiest section to recognize.

    I hope that helps . : )

  • Definately helps, thanks! =)

For me, this is one of the best remixes I've ever heard on Project Chaos: It sound so calm & full of emotion!

For some reason, this remix makes me think of Sonic frozen in icy water, & Tails is desperately trying to save him before he drowns/freezes to death too! It's amazing how 1 song (or remix) can make you imagine stuff!

  • Alicia Keys is playing this shit?

  • Ice Cap in a slower classical style has alot of emotion within it! I don't know why but it sounds more nostalgic to me than any other Ice Cap remix/remake I've heard in the past (I guess it's the emotion in it)! =')

Another reason why I love this remix is cause it's alot different than the average I.C. mix - there usually techno or dance all the time, & it ca get abit boring sometimes (IMHO).

  • Those of you who are complaining that they can't hear the Ice Cap in it are obviously not listening to the whole song, which makes me wonder if you're just tuning in to the first five seconds and then leaving.

  • classic! this is awesome. 5tits!

  • @TotalKaosE tits? WHERE

  • @TotalKaosE ...5tits?

  • does anyone know where i can get the sheet music for this song?

  • i need the piano sheet music for this.

  • This is weird because when you play Ice Cap it's normally fast paced cause you're blasting downhill away from avalanches and all that. However, this fits when you're underground, cause you are just kinda walking around, avoiding traps, trying to get back to the surface. Almost like you aren't sure if you're gonna make it back to the surface without dying D: kinda sad

  • This rendition makes me want to get good at piano just to play this.

  • This is a lovely version of a classic tune, it's very different from other remixs and it works really well. 5star!

  • Amazing...

  • Very beautiful song. First time though I couldn't recognize that it was Ice Cap except for the end but after listening to it a few times I can hear more of it through out the song, very nice.

  • You can still hear the dominant notes in the song. But it's much slower and has other extra notes that weren't in the original. Otherwise, it's in the same key, has the same melody, and beat.

  • I always liked the Ice Cap Zone~

Though, I personally thought the boss at the end of Act 2 was harder than the final boss.

    At least for me, anyway.

  • it´s easy if you use the "shield jump" thing that happens when you double jump and have no shields. Although it´s really hard as Tails.

  • YOu mean Sonic's instant-flash-shield ability?

Yeah, that's what I use. Problem is, I can't get the timing between ice-blasts properly.

  • i can get it perfectly, and the final boss it´s not that hard with that either. I still have to beat it as Tails, without the Shield Jump it´s really hard.

  • A very nice song, but only small parts in it sound like Ice Cap to me. Rating it 4/5. :D

  • this is my favoriot in the collection even if you have to pay more attention to notice the similarity

  • I give you points for making it sounds like a new song but this isnt the IceCap Zone I've grown to know and love =(

  • Some of this song reminds me of FFX (And that's very good in my opinion, because I like FFX since it was my first Final Fantasy, so this brings back memories.)

    Nice work, very well done.

  • You gotta listen oh so closely....you can hear how its like icecap.....and it fits so well... i feel sonic and tails braving a blizzard! <3

  • I'm sorry, but I don't hear any thing like Ice Cap in this :(

  • she means especially at like 1:24-2:05 and 2:44-3:11 and really through the rest. listen of so closely.

  • While I love ice cap's musics, and normally enjoy slower, more sensual music... and admittedly a piano's perfect for a 'crystal' feel that's almost inherantly required for an ice song, unfortunately this one's just a bit too slow to capture the sense of the song it's attempting to portrait.

Even as a standalone, disregarding its' affiliation with ice cap temporarily, while the basic melody works fine, the individual notes have a bad feeling of lagging behind.

  • Very slow to get started, but becomes recognisable for me somewhere around the 1:30 mark. This is a lovely piece of music, and a novel take on Ice Cap.

  • sounds like a french funeral

nice piano jingle though. sonic series seriously lacked piano in the old days

  • French funeral? lol

  • ...This makes me want winter to come sooner.
