  • There are not many Brits in the U,S. Navy so I suppose the fire control segment was filmed in England. Nice Doc. thanks for uploading. I can´t get the History channel so these films on Youtube really help.

  • What is this show called i remember it on the Military Channel?

  • For christsakes ole' boy... ditch the pink shirt.

    Who is producing this?

  • i think a 13 year old starcraft player could figure that packing all 4 carriers together is not really smart. the protoss will cast a psi storm =) in this case the Americans wiped out 3 carriers with one strike

  • @jigsaw556 Actually, there are good reasons to keep the carriers near each other. One, it makes coordination of flight operations easier, and; Two, it allows you to mass your defenses against attacks. The US started the war with the doctrine of splitting up their carriers to make them less vulnerable to a single devastating strike, but by the end of the war had completely reversed their doctrine to instead huddle their carriers together behind a massive screen of protective ships.

  • @Ranillon To be fair, we had so many ships that we didn't have much choice but to group them together.

  • @hunterkiller232134 Not really -- the ocean is very big and the US didn't have THAT many vessels. They could have separated the individual battlegroups far more than they did, but US anti-aircraft fire was excellent even from the start of the war and only got better. It was therefore more effective to group everyone together to have overlapping fields of fire.

  • A nitpick--at 6:32, it looks like all four carriers had the islands on the port side. Actually, only the Hiryu and Akagi did. The Soryu and Kaga had their islands on the starboard side, which was typical. I know it's a minor detail, but...

  • I really can't imagine fighting fires below deck in the 1940's while hearing constant bombardment outside the ship with it swaying from the ocean and the explosions constantly ripping through the hull. It would literally be fighting through hell itself, what madness!

  • enterprise was practically indestructible

  • i just want to get right to the point

  • Those Japanese Battleships were a large waste of steel and oil. At least use them to bombard something!

  • Japanese people all have small penis, that's why the Jap-Devils lost the war

  • Have you ever started a war and wondered: "Will my opponent probably kick my ass?"

  • @IvoryPhil thats like saying do you breathe oxygen?

  • @IvoryPhil Yes, the US won the war, but don't be so ignorant to think that Japan was not a force to be reckoned with in their own right.

  • @Mullafunka Well, in general I dislike the way the 20th century turned out to be and the 21st century started. I dislike all kinds of armed conflicts. We are reasonable and intelligent. Time to use those possibiities.

  • @IvoryPhil I think Yamamoto thought that. I think he knew from the "git go" that Japan was going to lose. As to Tojo and the other Army types and more then a few Naval types as well didn't think that.

  • the Japanese when they faced the americans had one word....."FUCK" when they saw the American fleet. LOLZ tricks on you ya Jap bastards....slant eyed fucks. We will bomb you back to the stone age........ever hear of a nuclear warhead? we own 20,0000 of them.

  • @JackieFan123 thank god americans are clever enough to keep stupid fucker like you far from the warheads.

  • @JackieFan123 wonder what will happen if they all exploded because of a earthquake in your country? No offense, but nukes aren't always the solution.

  • @JackieFan123 Also, you may have the nukes but using it will not make Us the most powerful because we all know if they are all used, US will be nothing but a large piece of land in a broken world.

  • ah-kah - gih

    not Aey-kay-gee!

  • @toof its there acent

  • Is that real 3d simulation technology or is that simulated 3d technology

  • ive watched 3 episodes,,, What the hell does this got to do with the Battle of Midway

  • "point luck" was a rally point northeast of Midway were the american fleet will postion itself to wait for the Main Japanese Carrier striking force. they were lucky that the Japanese intercepted a fake message that Nimtz ordered to be transmitted. The message read that Midway's water compressors were not working. If the Japanese took the bait, then they knew that Yatomoto's target was Midway. it gave time for Nimtz to prepare.

  • great graphic presentation.

  • did he just say point FUCK? 8:22

  • @marastugyo yes. yes he did (:

  • @marastugyo He said "Point Luck"

  • thekrazeone "majic" was the code the could only read bits and pieces but had got lucky when the us figured out what japanese "AF" target waS

  • Lol USS enterprise

  • @LaddieGalicia There's been 8 USS Enterprises in history. Including one that fought in the 1770s during the American Revolution.

  • the japanese should have improved the zero, it became obsolete far too quickly ater midway. they should have improved the engine and should have added self-ceiling fuel tanks.

  • The Zero was still the best fighter in the Pacific until 1943 when the first Hellcats began to appear.

Since they had a better plane and better pilots (their traning was way longer than the americans), the biggest Japanese mistake was to understimate the Navy tactics when using the outclassed but tough and reliable Wildcat.

But i agree, they should have added self-sealing tanks and some armor to protect them right after the battle of Midway.

  • @bfahren the flying tigers made progress enough againts them

  • Flying Tigers barely fought (if any) against Zeros, since the Japanese Army mostly used Nakajima Ki´s.

  • @bfahren yes the zero was much more deadly

  • Some please tell the old man not to wear brown shoes along with a black belt. Except for that, good job. Thanks.

  • Great upload.

  • i'm a history teacher and I say this is a great educational video

  • i didnt know teachers went on youtube

  • The most critical point was when intelligence cracked the JN-25 code, so the Americans were aware of the plot, and planned accordingly.
