@JouninSpriggan Wow, I just saw Google's new background and I DON'T like it! They have options to customize your own and such which is great but most people won't (ask Facebook about the whole "opt in" vs "opt out" ratio).

I personally feel (notice I didn't say "think") its a bad move. I'm sure within a couple weeks or less they will have the analytics to track and prove if it was good or not, and hey, got to go with whatever works, so good for them to atleast try!

@sundown798 Yes, or at least the intro page, good point. Notice how Google has so many other pages that are all hidden. The down side of it is most people never know they are there, but this far out ways the good side of most people don't want to know they are there, they just want simple search!

Its hard as a business owner cause you think EVERYTHING WE HAVE IS IMPORTANT, right? It all must go on the homepage and therefor clutter.

Without traffic, you can't convert. Your first priority should be SEO. Once you have that traffic, then you concentrate on converting it.

@CoolVallieJean Right? But you need those 5 visitors to land on your site first, which is traffic, isn't it? And there is also something called TARGETED traffic. If you have 1000 people landing on your site and can't convert them, then that traffic is junk. It's not targeted. So not only do you need targeted traffic, but you need to convert them, too. But without that traffic, you can't even begin to convert them, whether targeted or not.

@bigjoe501 Ha! I hear ya. Yeah, the dopey noises serve as a "pattern interrupt" (NLP technique) which just means as people start to doze off or lose interest it "SNAP" brings them back in.

We have tracked videos with and without them using the YT-INSIGHT tool and we can see that when we DO use them, the attention the video is way higher.

But... on the OhVeryNice website I plan to do some longer more serious vids, but for YT I gotta dance like a sea-monkey to get the view count.

@ray274 Its not "what you say, its how you say it." Look at the top viewed shows: the characters are highly animated and everyone watches.

Look at the smartest people you know: very calm and boring.

By teaching with high energy, emotion, quick shots, funny sound bites, etc, it catches more of an audience etc.

Sometime go into your YT videos and click on INSIGHTS-HOT SPOTS and you can see at what points in your own videos people are interested or leaving. You can see the principals at work.

googles homepage is still great, only problem is after you search, the whole options features n stuff turned GAY!

its not just a cluttered mess, it looks like it got gangbanged by a crayola, colors, n adds, n fonts n sizes n options everywhere on the left side and top. its irritating now.

i liked the version that i used in the 5th grade back in 05 when it wasn't this messed up.

Also can I add that there's some things the Belcher Button video doesn't explain. Another usage of blue text on orange is used because the two counteract each other, for theyre direct opposites.

Also the dash line - doesn't work internationally, its a very American thing to have 'coupons' with dashed borders. What probably does win over international buyers is that 'because the US can trust it, we can as well' sort of attitude, however to me, a dashed border always seems a little bit tacky.

Cool dave has already incorporated the button, but one thing dave you taking about how to make purchasing easyier, well: if a logged-in member of the RCP forum goes to you homepage and clicks a PDF plan he doesnt go to the page where he can buy it, there are allot of people who dont know how forums work and thus dont know you have to go to the LAST page istead of first. this will dramatically increase sales ;D (hopefully) DAVE POWERS is the best!

@melrobRTF Yes, I know. There are LOTS of things that need to be fixed with our RCP site, this is why I used Google as an example and not our site. At this point, its simply not cost effective to work much on the RCP stuff. Its just way more trouble than its worth.
