    RIP Trooper Leonard

  • Hello Mr.Ed. I know you. But do you know me? What do you prefer? Cobalt or Copper?

  • @GTVunit Hi Meta!

  • @edratliff How is it fathomable that you guessed so easily. My avatar right?

  • A family member of mine was born and raised in Kentucky. I live in northern Michigan near Lake Superior and went to Pikeville on numerous occasions when I was growing up. Pike County is a very scenic area. I noticed there were law enforcement from the Michigan State Police and the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) across the border in Canada in this procession.

  • My Dad was a cop and I rode along with him pretty often. Later on the county hired me to help map infrastructure in the county. I've been from one side to the other.

  • Hey, if you come down let me know and I'll try to show you around and answer any questions you may have!

    -Ed

  • Trooper Jonathan Was a good trooper. He was one of the best and always will be. He was one good trooper and was a great guy. May he Rest In Peace.

  • HES A HERO NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODY SAYS, PPLE NEED TO SHOW RESPECT, MAY HE REST IN PEACE

  • Hey Ed quick question are yuo lrelated to gary and misty ratliff they live in Nicholasville but go to pikeville on the weekends also i really liked this video and my hear goes out to trooper leonards family and friends. may he rest in peace and may god bless his soul.

  • @Seahawksfan951 No sorry man, don't think I am. How do you like this part of Kentucky?

  • @edratliff I`ve never been to Pike County or that part of kentucky at all because i`m from Lexington-Fayette born and raised. I currently live in Nicholasville, which is okay, except for the drama. other then that I would have to say I would love Pike County, as a matter of fact my friend Jasmine Ratliff`s little brother practically begged their mom to take me with them to pikeville for his sister`s birthday party. But no joke i`m trying to visit pike county sometime this week or next month

  • good lord - talk about a turnout for an officer. the way it should ALWAYS be.

  • Yes rest in peace he sounds to b a great officer were pretty devistated when soembody fom our state dies doing what we do from me and the Metcalfe County Fire Dept. god bless!

  • How sad, "from the son of Two DPS off. RET. " ... this is just sad , makes me cry. God rest !

  • I'm prior military and want to be a state trooper. this is the type of funeral i want...

  • YEAH send them back....dont need them anymore ya stupid tool. we did now we dont

  • police don't get paid enough to do what they do. R.I.P sir. This world would be alot worse off if it wasn't for police. thank you all for what you do in the States and here in Canada

  • Rest in peace trooper you have earned it and also earned the respect and gratitude of the Arkansas State Police and our nations police force you will live forever in our memories

  • wow this video has touched me ,may u rest in peace sir and god bless ur family!

  • I feel bad for this fam. RIP. I always pray for the officers on duty.

  • That is so so sad. :( Feel sorry for the family, I hope this never happens to me or my dad on the force,I mean, the dieing part. And this is sort of rude, i don't think you would you a complete stranger recording my funeral.

  • I think this was done out of respect. Out of all the garbage on youtube aganist cops, I'm glad to see a honor displayed.

  • Comment removed

  • I feel as though it's a great honor for someone to do this for a complete stranger who lost his life doing something not many will or can do. LEO's often go unrecognized by members of local communities.

  • Uhm..... Where is Pikeville City Police?

    Pikeville Native4life

  • Im pretty sure that it's in eastern ky..

  • Talk about a police escort...

  • i remember this very well. this was about 4 miles from my home. US 119 was totally shut down in the area.

  • Rest in peace, shall you never be forgotten.

  • may this trouper rest in peace.

but why do they have to waste tax payer money by all driving there squad cars? could they car pool?

  • Okay, so now you're putting a dollar amount on a funeral? Do you car pool to the passing of a family member? What an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with optimusprime50, you do the same thing at a family members funeral so i dont see where you can say anything, and im sure at somepoint somewhere in time you have wasted my tax money too!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • We did car pool.

  • RIP Brother. God Bless you.

  • This is a great thing to see that We from Kentucky appreciate those band of brothers... I will soon be in that uniform hopefully and I understand what KSP does for this state and Trooper Leonard is a hero and someone for me to look up too! RIP

  • amazing grace done with the pipes and drums always makes me cry, it is so sad to loose an officer, god rest his family

  • God Speed brother.

We're 10-8 to continue you're service to the public.

    RIP.

    -Robb.

    Future KSP.

  • what is the name of the music they are playing?

    rest in peace!

  • You have no respect for the dead.

  • R.I.P. My brother in arms.

In ym town we currently lost one of are officers (12/12/08) and we had his funeral procession and we had a few roads to go thru and one lane closed off for us. may all fallen officers RIP

  • R.I.P my brother.

  • Rest In Peace Brother, we have it from here.

  • death comes at the most strangest hour..

    unanounced or unplanned for...

  • God speed my brother.

  • and god yet took another angel and gave him his wings. he risked life and yet was a hero.

god bless those with wings. your a hero in my book. rest in peace.

  • We will never forget you my brother. Rest in peace.

  • I don't cry often, but I'm holding tears back watching this video. Wow! The incredible respect by the KSP for their own is nothing short of respectable itself. KSP and Kentucky law enforcement in general is very professional and hard-working; I know, I live here.

  • I am not American, but I think that every police officer wich loses his life in the line of duty is a HERO and he deserves respect and gratitude.

Thank you officer Leonard. Rest in Peace.

  • Absolutely! :)

  • @alanshore78 Amen

  • For those of you that post comments on video memorials, such as the one USABillOfRights did, shame on you. If you have a problem against cops, keep it to yourself or post it somewhere else....NOT ON A MEMORIAL PAGE. Show some respect. DO NOT disrespect fallen officers.

  • as a soldier, there is one thing in the world that will make me break down in tears, and it's this

  • Amen to that. Rest in peace Trooper Leonard.

  • Nice Video. The taps really goes good with it. Sad to see a law enforcement officer killed. Bless him.

  • That's Amazing Grace, not Taps.

    RIP good sir.

  • this is only about 25 miles from me. Very sad. God bless you all!

  • I honestly can not believe this! Whether or not a cop has died or not, a HUMAN life was taken in vain. How dare you people have an argument like this to a memorial video. How would you civilians like it if people were MFing your family on their memorial page? God Bless this Kentucky State Trooper and ALL people who risk their lives every day to keep society from harming us.

  • god bless all the troopers and wat they go through everyday, brave men i hope to b one someday

  • God Bless this trooper and his family. And to you sociopathicregret, you are entitled to your opinion, but don't disrespect this trooper. Plus, would you consider an underage drunk driver a criminal if they crashed into your mother and killed her? Your logic is crazy.

  • Noone would do that for someone who does not respect anyone at all. You are one of those people who bad mouth cops but call them for help when someone is beating the sh*t out of you!

  • God Bless Trooper Leonard may he rest in peace. You are greatly missed. From your fellow Trooper and his family

  • And I'm sure that all you do 98% of the time is get tickets and drink soda... You too, get a life... and don't dial 911 when someone's bashing your head into the ground... Just take it like a man!

  • So when you write your will, be sure to tell your loved ones to use their legs, horse and buggies, and bikes, since it would be a waste of resource to use the fuel to attend your funeral... Instead of being so closed minded, why don't you try to think about all of those who showed up to Trooper Leonard's funeral... They cared... However, I'm quite sure you never showed. Perhaps you were out burning resources to run electricity to that computer of yours. Get a life! .. God bless you Jonathan!!

  • Rest in Peace and you are remembered.

Because of you(cops) I can go to work at night (I police dispatch) and know that someone is watching out for my family at home, and my mom in AZ, and my brothers family in NV, and the kids down the street, people I'll never know,and...

    Thank you--

  • Rest in peace, brother, your work here is done

  • Rest In Peace Trooper Johnathn

  • Rest in Peace, Brother, We all miss you

  • rest in peace

  • rip, well done thank you!!

  • Rest in peace - Jonathan K. Leonard!

  • Rest in peace - Jonathan K. Leonard!

  • My Dad, now a retired, was on duty with Leonard the night he died. I spoke him minutes after it occurred and words cannot describe what I heard. They don't bury colleagues. They bury brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles to people like my sister and me. We are one big family. The next time you see an officer, even if you are being pulled over, thank him or her for their service. You may be the last one they talk to face-to-face. Trooper Leonard, Dad, all my "aunts and uncles," thank you too.

  • that's beautiful!!!!

  • Rest In Peace Trooper Leonard. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Leonard family and KSP Post 9.

  • RIP Trooper Leonard

God needed a hero... a KSP Trooper, he got one.

  • Such a sad day for all of us in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers to all those at Post 9. I am driving the Lexington cruiser that you see at about 7 minutes into the video.

  • AT 0:38 - Leonard was a three year veteran of the Kentucky State Police at the Pikeville Post - Post 9. He was the first trooper killed in the line of duty in Kentucky in nearly 20 years.

  • I'm not sure why the font turned out so poorly. Here's the commentary:

AT 0:15 -On December 19th, 2006 Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan K. Leonard was on duty in his cruiser and responding to a domestic violence call when his cruiser and another car collided.

  • R.i.p!
