Yes, This video was worth watching. It is like going to see a live performance every night. I realized that I had forgotten that he was not with us anymore. It is as though he is still here. I am a huge Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan fan, and though I understand the baseline meaning to most qawwal, i'm greatly inhibited from fully understanding due in large part to my weak grasp of Urdu, Farsi, and Hindi.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

@pelitsnake yeah, most of the lyrics that he sings are devotional love poetry. They are done in the Qawaal tradition. They go back to Jalal Rumi, who started the whole Sufi sect of Islam. The poems are done in a way to show devotion to a love of God. Oftentimes, the lyrics are also love poetry for people as well.

This is not written by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan... but its "Shikwa + Jawabe-e-Shikwa" by Allama Iqbal

Nusrat like all the other qawwals (except Aziz Mian) didn't produce his own meterial. This kalaam was written by Naaz Khayalvi however Nusrat takes verses from various sources so some of them could have been Allama Iqbal's (R.A.)

allama iqbal was murid at Alipur Sharif, Siyalkot. His shaikh was a shari'ah following shaikh, who was totally against this kind of samaa' with illegal musical instruments. TASAWWUF goes hand into hand with shari'ah. There is no tasawwuf without shari'ah. Nusrat sadly did not really follow shari'ah, what kind of a sufi is he? Baba Bulley Shah raziallahu anhu had a fistful beard, because he loved the sunnah of our Habeeb salAllahoalayhiwaaalihi wa salam
