how does this compare to the DN4? in terms of loudness, and tone? i know the DN3 is spruce/sapele and is "supposed" to sound brighter than the DN4 which is spruce/ovangkol, but is it true? i played the DN3 at the store and it sounds really good, they just didn't have the DN4 for me to compare.
@mautsukuda Same thing happened to me a few days ago...I loved the DN3 sound and I really wanted to compare it to the DN4! If you ever found out about the difference I'd love to hear from you!
Very nice guitar, sounds good in pick strumming too. What would you say is the main tonal difference between sapele and avangkol? basically I'm looking for a 12 strings guitar so I have the choice between the Ga3-12 or ga4-12. I see that you have a 12 strings in the back, would it be possible that you do a video for this one??
I have had my Taylor DN for about 6 months and I am loving it. It is the best sounding acoustic guitar I have come across after searching several Guitar Stores.
You could argue that a Taylor will last longer due to the fact that it has a bolt on neck and the neck can be shimmed in later life negating the need to cut out the tail piece as is needed on some martins They are quite different really and the martins will last well if looked after also I love them both but in different ways.
I've had my DN3 for about a year now. It plays and sounds absolutely fantastic. I also own a Martin 000CME which also plays great and sounds great plugged in but unless I need to plug in I always reach for the DN3.
DN3 are rebranded and slightly remodified 310. The *14 series are rebranded "GA". Difference between *10 and *14 (DN and GA) is mainly in the style of body - former is dreadnought, latter is grand auditorium. Each one suits different playing styles.
I've had a DN3 since January. It has a beautiful, rich sound. I don't find the bass lacking at all. With John Pearse mediums, it sings. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone thinking about a great sounding, no frills guitar.
Tried this in a music store, then bought it over the net for $800 before Thanksgiving. I love her bass, strong and powerful. Treble is loud too, but lacking some brillance, seems like some high pitch frequency has been truncated. But I don't care, this is the best guitar I've found in this price range. Made in USA with real wood.
I noticed that Taylor 310 is dicontinued. It had excellent reviews on Harmony Central. Now, Taylor DN3 model seems to be similar, however not identical, e.g.: plastic rosette instead of wood fiber one, small pearl dots instead of large... nothing important. So is this model a kind of continuation? Can anyone compare these two models? I'd be grateful. :-)
While I'm a happy D-28 owner, I'm also impressed with Taylor. I'm considering acquiring a DN3 for playing to my students at school on Fridays.

Yeah, one of the best value guitars you can get from Taylor I reckon...sensibly priced, good features. Everything you need, nowt you don't.
