brilliant, underrated singer. If she hadn't mouthed off to those radio executives back in 1985, she would have emerged as one of the greatest stars of all time.
@DaveWollenberg ... Hi Dave, "Wall Of Tears" was written by: Richard Leigh; Peter Mccann. K.T. Oslin had this song on an album and also Francis Black recorded this on an album. Hope this info is helpful.
Carol- Good to hear back...just wanted to let you know that the night after the fun with Gus, my friend and I stayed at Betsy Brooks house, with her and her then partner Sandy. They were the nicest two ladies, had us a spare room and shower to use, and the next morning Besty got up and cooked an awesome breakfast for us all. We ate, shared some memories, and then left to head back to Fort Worth, Texas.
My friend and I were floored to later find out that Betsy is Garth Brooks sister...
@19Olds68 ... What an incredible adventure this turned out to be for you and your friend! Always heard Betsy was a very nice person...you offer proof now of her kindness and generosity.
Not often one lucks out as you did on this trip! This trip really holds a lot of wonderful memories for you. "Lady Luck" was with you on this trip!
I drove from Fort Worth, Texas to Tulsa Oklahoma back in 1995 just to see and hear this lady sing...got to meet her, spend some time backstage, make pictures together, and attend a dinner party afterwards! I have an autographed T shirt in my closet Gus signed...as well as some record album covers! Loved this gal, she was a great lady! Still play her music today...
@19Olds68 .... Been away, sorry to be delayed in returning your comment.
Gus was one great performer! I loved her music then and now. You are very lucky to have seen her perform plus get to be backstage after the show! I wore the "Wall Of Tears" album out literally from playing it so much. Wish she was still with us....
Beautiful video. Love Gus & was fortunate to see her perform several times in the early 90's. Hope I can find her singing "Magnolia" on here.
