Excellent video there, I've got a photo of this bus (2620, CX07 COJ) at Mostyn Street, Llandudno last Wednesday, sporting an additional teal (green) curve from the top near the front. :)
VDL Wright Gemini's have been purchased for Arriva London... To replace the Articulated buses on certain routes... I have to say there great buses... I suppose that companies up north would be purchasing the new VDL Wright Gemini's
I'm not pleased about what has happened to the British bus industry and in North West england we have lost some great bus mark Leyland and enginges such as Gardner and Leyland. Coach builders Northern Counties, Massey and many others that are no longer round. the only bit left is East Lancs. Why have some things in Britain now gone belly up?
Yes I agree. I recall that DAF used to make Leyland O.680 engines under license. They improved on it and increased it's size to 11.6 litres. I have heard DAF repowered Leopards and Nationals. The Leopards sound more like a Leyland than a Leyland! Anyone know if this range of DAF engines is still produced?
we have the sb120s with the allinson gear box and to be honest i much prefer the sound of the voith. the trouble i find with allinsons is they keep kicking down when driving.
They are fantastic vehicles to drive, and have the voith boxes. can get a little bouncy goin over speed humps as they have air suspension drivers seat. but a fantastic vehicle. I took one to manchester on a PH, bus 198 (which i think is F98 STB) and it was a dream, done 56* flat out fully loaded and 56 flat out empty coming back.
Nice! I think Domiators are very nice buses. About 10 years ago my school buses were ex WBT Atlanteans XTB5-9T and XTB11T. These were apparently awful buses to drive with no powersteering and generally bad to drive. A day or two in the Warrington area is something I will have to do soon I think.
well i'm the youngest of the crew and fortunatly never had to drive anything without powersteering. we do have a leyland routemaster pd2 i think, thats the old bus with no powersteering or auto box. I have rode shotgun with inspector on a private hire, (well sat on the stairs LOL) she sounds lovely . I can arrange for photo's of our buses if you want? I dont have any fancy camera but its pretty good.
This bus, CX07 COJ, is the first production Wright Pulsar.

i thought this was a volvo B7RLE eclipse what does VDL mean?
jaggass 3 years ago
New name for DAF
video47 3 years ago
the eclipse is gemeni's body for the B7RLE, the pulsar is the name for the DAF/VDL (both the same company) chassis
VDL tends to be a mix up of dennis chassis's (engine and gearbox) or MAN chassis's

That will be the Leyland Titan PD2/40. Yes they do sound brilliant, especially the 'croaking' sound from the exhaust.
