This, is due much more to lipids and cholesterol and wrong nutrition, if someone is fat. Smoking comes as a second add-on to the problem since causes some blood elements to "stick" on the arteries. Fortunately you are thin, but do you have high cholesterol?

Wow, I really enjoy your whole attitude towards pipe smoking. I'm 23 years old, and my sister just gave me my first pipe (not entirely sure why but I love it). My question is: After a decade or more of pipe smoking and loving every second of having a pipe within comfortable reach, would you, if given the news that you did have plaque built up, be able to just stop smoking. Or would you resort to other means of getting rid of the plaque.

I'm in the same boat you are, I'm a personal trainer and im very healthy.. but i smoke pipes and occasionally cigars. I only smoke a bowl every 2-3 days, and maybe one cigar per week.

and honestly... I'll outlive obese people before i ever develop oral cancer, if i even do. and even then im at very low risk because i don't smoke daily Since i started smoking ive relaxed much more, and im actually "healthier"

my hypertension has gone down, and im easily within healthy range, and my doctor.

You seem fairly healthy overall. It really looks like you take care of yourself. I doubt smoking a pipe has a huge effect on you. Most people are unhealthy with or without smoking, but they blame it all on the smoking.

Very interesting! I have my dentist check for oral cancer annually. For your carotid artery, what type of specialist did you see and what test did you request?

@skibumbob2178 my doc sent me to the vascular lab in a hospital and instructed me to ask for an ultrasound for the carotid artery only. Not heart or anything else. $45
