FYI, this is from the February 6, 1971 Brussels concert broadcast on the Belgian TV show “Pop Shop”. It’s available on the “Pictures at an Exhibition (Special Edition)” DVD. The complete concert (i.e., including “The Barbarian”) is available on the “Masters from the Vaults” DVD (albeit poorer video quality).
you are so right--I never get tired of listening to his voice. He uses his voice much more completely than a lot of rock singers--he has a great deal of vocal dimension, even when he was just a young thing. I wonder when he discovered he had an a-ma-zing voice. I don't think he has training, just a natural.
Also by 10:36 you can see he's humming his bass line--something most singers do when they are harmonizing...

Great live ELP! One of the gropus that is greatly missed. They should play more of their music on classic rock 104.3FM. They only play Karn evil 9 and Lucky Man. EPL did so many other wonderful pieces.
One of the greatest rock/jazz fusion pianist bar none, so innovative for his time, set the tone for everything that came after, granted he (like so many other incomplete musicians) took so much from other composers, even though he is a hack, his technique is still superb ! Also, his selection of keyboards and his mastery of them puts him into a distinct class of pianists, hats off to Keith Emerson. (sorry no harpsichord)
Greg's lyrics, for me "the deepest" rock lyricist of all ... out of hats.
40 years since I first heard this song. has always been a favourite of mine. Although I saw ELP perform live several times, they never did this one. Lovely to see it played.
one of the best of the bunch that I listened to in the 70s on LP and now I got them on CD. The 3 record set was one of the best record sets I ever heard. Just imagine if you heard this in a car coming down the street instead of that shit rap that is out today.
there will never be another group like this one young people today should take a look at this to get some kind of idea of were there favorites came from at some point i comes back to here
Love this song. Is it me or am i seeing things a shirt change on Greg around 5mins.

Great Upload. Best ELP clip on the tube. Some parts sound like a 1950's jazz club. What a band.

Nice playful tune with Greg doing some incredible acoustic work--
and with Keith being Keith...lol
And Carl bringing it home with the "ching"
These dudes knew how to have fun
