@CarlD2 she was disappointed that their loft in a warehouse where they had lived was no longer there. How she could tell where she was a second after waking up is beyond me.
Its still so cool. After DM's death, ATWT still honored its history, and emphasized on family, while incorporating new characters seamlessly. And Lisa!! That kiss!!
@dolemitedavis This truly was Lisa's last romance (I'm not counting Chedwyn, and I don't think Eileen Fulton does either). That lingering kiss, and Lisa being swept away in it, are the essence of her character, and of what ATWT lost.
I'm not sure if this is the remainder of Douglass Marlands material, but Juliet Law Packer and Richard Backus did a good job of carrying on his legacy. TPTB really screwed up when they fired them, and should have brought them back to help with Hogan Scheffer. I think it would have been the start of another golden era for ATWT.
@dolemitedavis At the time there was criticism for slow pacing, too many characters, not enough excitement. I think the show was still OK, they just focused too much on some dud stories. Even then, things picked up against in 1994 when Orlena started going to the dark side and Pete arrived, Janice was at her evil best. A lot of stuff annoyed me at this time but nowhere near as much as what Valente, Black, and Stern did.
I also wanted to point out Kathleen Widdoes' performance in that very short scene where Emma learns about John. You immediately know how much Emma still cares about, maybe even loves, John, even if the script never says it.
I didn't know Evan and Rosanna were ever at an "I love you" stage. I think the show saw her as the bigger character but I was reading an SOD from their relationship and it said fans wanted HIM in a better love story.
I guess Andy and Courtney were mostly just deluded young love, so their split makes sense, but the whole OMG he takes pictures at bad times! always annoyed me. This is leading up to when he takes photos after Courtney was injured, not knowing it was her, and she leaves.
@CarlD2 I don't remember how much was made of And & Courtney being bonded by destructive compulsions like bulimia & alcoholism, but that would have been a nice angle to explore their breakup.
This was better than I'd expected. The Shannon return had some promise here. What was she upset about being gone?
Is it me or had Duke basically just become John by this time? The crazy sayings, the social awkwardness, the mustache. He was sort of like this before but not quite as pronounced. I'm sorry we never saw him again after this.
Holden is as cold and obsessive as ever at this time, but I did love that Caleb called him out. By far the best part of those scenes for me.
@CarlD2 Considering that Michael Loudon joined ATWT 5 years earlier, it's amazing how his look could change and make the casting so uncanny.
I don't see how Shannon could have no interest in what Duncan's life has been like for 3 years. The assumption that she could just ram her tongue down his throat with no questions is odd, and his holding out on the truth only created a monster.
@Oakdalian I could buy that she would be so caught up in seeing him again that she wouldn't be interested in what had happened, and seeing the ring on his finger, just assumed he had been waiting for her. It's the way Duncan behaved when he saw her again that bothers me most. Well that, and the horrible way Shannon was written after this, and the depressing story, and too much reliance on backstory...
I wonder if by this time Loudon was deliberately mirroring John. It's fascinating to see.

Duncan! Get a cell phone! Did no one on the bus have one? I think they were in use -- particularly by the wealthy -- in 1994.
Eduardo's accent is so phony that it is so distracting from whatever he is saying.

@PavedParadise I didn't notice the accent so much at the time.
Thanks for answering my question about the loft. I am surprised she'd have fond memories of that place, as they didn't even live there a year.
