Madeleine was Louis wife that he "made" so Claudia would stay with him and could be a family. Armand wanted Louis for himself and because it was forbidden to make one so young, he condemned Claudia and Madeleine to death.

@HijackThis1337 Actually, Lestat condemned Claudia to death. In the book Lestat sent Armand's group after her and had her killed. Louis was going to leave Claudia for Armand. Madelaine was Claudia's new "companion." <.<

Louis made Madeleine because Claudia forced him into making her. Clauda can't live alone since she's so young, and she knew Louis was leaving with Armand.

But yes, Armand wanted Louis, so Armand killed Claudia and Madeleine. He claimed that she was being killed because she tried to kill Lestat, using Lestat as a witness. Lestat however, was forced into being a witness. Armand blackmailed him, kind of.

@Hyperaktiviteten And according to Armand, Claudia came to him and used the whole "killing Lestat" thing as a way to hide what he was really doing to her. Armand supposedly thought that the healing qualities of vampiric blood would allow him to chop off Claudia's head and place it on the body of a full grown vampire woman, in which case she would be a woman. However his "devil's surgery" didn't do too well so she ended up dying anyway, in which case he burned the body.
