from a european and german perspective i am very worried about this video, although i understand there are a lot of patriotic feelings attached to it. duty is good, but questioning it is even more important. citizens are not there to follow, they are there to control and question, for debate and for pluralism, not for the sole honor and duty. different then what he said, history teaches that one has to question military action and not to glorify it.
I came to America for school two years ago. I am Tongan by nationality but sometimes I wished I was serving in the American forces. I would do it in a heartbeat!!! America is a great nation and I am grateful for the opportunity to be here. This piece of music makes me wanna serve more. I'd be in the airforce if I could!!!
@pilotguy11 Thank you for the love you share for this country. It is such a beautiful thing to hear. So many out there despise the USA... I too love her and know that she can be better and rise above all the things that are bringing her down. I know this country is meant for good.. thanks for your love and patriotism toward America :)
I never serves in the military, but I am very thankful for each man or women who has served or is currently serving in the military. THANK YOU for your service. THANK YOU for protecting us. Daily I pray that God will protect you as you protect us.
@FireYourJOB -- Amen to that! He was my choice for President in 2008. I have great respect for him and his intergrity. BTW - I am not Morman, his religion is his business and is not a concern to me.
@hyperiontheevil - what are you talking about.... his voice is awesome. he is always doing the introductions for general conference and other church stuff.....
I served in both the navy and the army but my neighbor thinks that owning a Prius is more patriotic. What do you think, should we change the code to duty, honor and Toyota?
This seriously gave me the chills. I love the MOTAB and funny thing is... I usually hate he bagpipes but I absolutely loved this. Thank you for posting.

The original writer, producer, and announcer of the spoken portion of the broadcast was Richard L. Evans, who continued in that capacity until his death in 1971. J. Spencer Kinard took over as announcer in 1972 until he stepped down in 1990. Lloyd D. Newell has been the announcer since then.
This is absolutely beautiful. Highland Cathedral is one of my favorite songs and this is one of the most powerful and moving performances I have ever seen. The choir did an outstanding job as well. It truly does sound like something straight from heaven. I showed this to my grandfather(he is all Scottish) and this brought tears to his eyes. God bless the U.S military and its troops, bagpipers, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, playing Highland Cathedral, is famous and is the most perfect sounding choir and orchestra on the World! It sounds so beautifull it could come straight from Heaven! Together with the District Pipe-Band it is so Heavenly played, it would couse tears to wave out of the world's eyes! Thank you for adding this Clip to the YouTube database!
Probably the best ive heard this song played. They should have used the pipe organ as well, it sounds even MORE (hard to beleive) magnificent with pipe organ to go along with it!
Please!!! Do you not know that this song was composed by two young Germans a couple of years back and then played all over the world and then taken over by the Scots!!!
If you've ever heard bagpipes in real life, you know how loud they can be. Combining that with the fact that there were so many of them and the terrific accoustics in the Mormon Tabernacle, that had to be really really loud!
@Navian1 that makes two of us this would have been so awsome to witness live especilly hearing those bagpipes and actully this is not the Tabernacle this is the concert hall on the same grounds there in Salt Lake City the accoustics in that place are remarkable

Well, go ahead and worry. Worry about your country and your military. Our country and miltary did not murder six million civilians.

It is wrong to say that Highland cathedral was a traditional melody. It was composed in 1982. But nevertheless a nice arrangement.
