This victory has pushed the Stallions up from jobbers to a known tag team. Too bad it didn't last long, they went back to jobbing until Roma turned heel and formed Power and Glory.
Roma and Powers before they were the Young Stallions. I don't think they got the push they deserved because they didn't have that great tag finisher. They would have been better heels I think. Roma and Hercules were great as Power and Glory, that could've been Roma and Powers.
@Holden308 You're absolutely right. There were a lot of guys around that time who didn't fit Vince's profile of big or muscular 6'5" guys or 400 pounds who could wrestle that got overlooked. I still think the mid 80's to early 90's were my favorite years of wrestling.
@N8iveNik Remember that Steroids were not illegal until the late 80s. Even after they became illegal, those guys were using them all the way until the 2000s....but the legal trouble Vince got into made Vince open up to guys that were still muscular but not bodybuilder physiques. That being said, several guys never got a real chance in the WWF, they had to go to NWA
Roma ?? LOL :) Only time I ever could stand him, is when he teamed with Warlord, as Power and Glory, they had a great finisher that was a double team superplex from the top, then a big splash from the top, it was one of the best tag team finishes. On the other hand, when Roma went to the 4 horsemen, that was just pathetic, would have never worked and didn't work...
The were replacing Shawn Michaels and Marty Janetty. The Midnight Rockers tried to get into the WWF in 1987 but were fired as soon as they got there. So the WWF needed to push another them..... it was Jim Powers and Paul Roma.
Referee Dick Letz is indeed refereeing this match. All of the other WWF referees refused to take this match because they feared the scrutiny they would be under since Danny Davis would be at ringside. Letz agreed to take this match only if Mister T would provide security.
Referee Dick Letz is refereeing this match and I find that interesting, because during the 80s he was primarily the senior MSG referee. He refereed all the big matches at MSG during the 80s, but very rarely did you see him on TV during 1986-1989 on shows like Wrestling Challenge and Superstars.

@N8iveNik Power & Glory. Another team unfairly buried by Vince around this time.

Wait, so Paul Roma & Jim Powers are wrestling as a team here before being rebranded as The Young Jobbers... I mean Stallions?

@pbrick6301 Referee Dick Letz was a great referee. He officiated a lot of the bigtime MSG matches back in the 80s.

It's amazing how you don't even know Bruno is THERE (doing commentary) alongside Jesse and Vince. That's how little he spoke.

That's cuz he was awful as a commentator
