Love this movie but I have to tell you...I am claustrophobic and have literally had nightmares about this pool scene since I was a kid in the late 1970s. I dream I'm swimming in the pool and it closes over my head.
Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed! What a pair. This is one of the greatest scenes in all of slapstick, and you can imagine a young couple in such a situation carrying on just as the chatacters did!
Thanks so much for thr post, and thanks to all involved in giving us that wonderful movie!
This sequence was so magically executed by all concerned! It actually appears as though it's all been improvised... which is what makes it work so well! Such a pleasure...
Did you recognize the actor who played Freddie Othello, the character who takes the key to open up the floor? It was Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer from the "Our Gang" Little Rascals !!!
This is my favorite scene from this movie. The song brings back a lot of memories as this is what my Grandma used to dance too. They were ROCKIN it back then!!! Now no one wants to have fun and that is sad :( Thanks for the FUN memories!
i wish it was more of a film version on youtube... but hell i was trying so hard to find this on youtube...thanks sooo much for posting the recording anyways
That segment is what makes the movie one of my favorites; I could watch that part another thousand times and unfortunately thanks to you, I probably will--so automatically delete 1,000 from View, cause it's just me.
The High Scool gym this was filmed at still exists, Beverly Hills High. Also, that's Alfalfa from Little Rascals turning the key. See you at the Class of '28 80th reunion!
that was alfalfa that unlocked the floor

This was back when dancing was classy. Now it's just humping and pop locking, so sad.

THis has to be one of my favorite scenes from an old movie. Why don't young people want to have fun like that anymore?

I agree. I love this scene! Especially, when he meets the 'little girl' now all 'grown-up'. :)
whenaman 3 years ago
@charminsouthernbelle because our society and youth culture has become verrrrrry sexual...and lazy....dancers. leaving no room for simple fun.
