I had a DX true 30mw green laser 3 years ago that could burn electrical tape with no mods. Now I have a true 50mw but it has less power than my old 30mw. I'm thinking that the potentiometer on the 50mw may have been set too low from the factory...

Does anyone know if the DX 30mw and 50mw have different diodes or if the pot is just set higher in one and lower in the other?

So, I conclude that the stronger the laser, the more visible the beam will be. I have a good DX 30mw, the spot is super bright, and the beam is dim but visible when very dark. Almost invisible in normal room light; you will not see it unless you know it's here and are looking for it.

Watch your eyes! A reflection from that laser is enough to cause eye damage. When playing with lasers 14mw and above, laser safety glasses are a must. You don't want to end up blind.
