Paranoia Agent was a masterpiece. Ever since my first time seeing it on tv it was forever embedded in my life it was a great series. never did an anime grab me like paranoia agent did and for that i thank you and hope you rest in peace.
AHHH, I just heard the news last night. Satoshi Kon is my favourite of all directors, he made me realise that anime can actually be good! HIs work was so original :(. What I want to know is if they'll still release dreaming machine in memory of him. I've been waiting to long for that film. R.I.P Satoshi Kon :(
@Zaothus it was hayao miyazaki's fault, the guy who's not retired and kept being persistent of his masterpieces, and he's not the only one who's dying to make him very healthy with some healthy diets, GET A CLUE!
and I tell, he died in loving memories like Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy died in February 9, 1989 and Shotaro Ishinomori, the creator of Cyborg 009 died in January 28, 1998, except Rintaro, Katsuhiro Otomo, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, and Leiji Matsumoto, they're still alive safely
Terrible terrible loss, Lovely tribute. His work for me is among the best in Anime. When I first watched Perfect blue it opened my eyes to just how good anime can be in the hands of this Man. Toyko Godfathers is my favourite Kon work, its so honest and often funny, its very dificult to produce a work like Godfathers thats gritty and inject humour into it not for this Man, his work is so unique and well written. He will be sadly missed and his passing will leave a huge hole in anime.
Satoshi Kon wasn't just an excellent animator, but an excellent filmmaker as well. You can tell how much he loved movies by watching any of his interviews and hear him speak about what movies and filmmakers inspired him. Of course, you could also tell that simply by watching his films.
@rjxsapri Very true. Movies like Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress and to some extent Paprika were as much meditations on cinema as they were on the nature of identity.
Satoshi Kon was one interesting character in my opinion; his films, especially Paprika, being not only surreal and unique, but deeply interesting for me. I never even knew that he had cancer or any such problems like that, but now that I've heard that he's passed away, he'll be sorely missed by me. Paprika was my favorite film of his!
RIP Satoshi. Thanks for all the films you made. Let's hope people like Zaothus preserve your work for future generations to enjoy.
I cryed when I heard about this, I loved his work and he was my idol, as someone who wants to be an animator. Before this I was already pressuring people in to watching his wonderful films but now more then ever I want peole to know about him his work that inspired me so.
I'm pretty shocked and bummed out right now. I just watched Paprika last week on Blu Ray. He made some unique films, and the animation industry has suffered a tragic loss. I had no idea that Kon had cancer. Too young at 47 to be gone, RIP. His legacy and mark is assured and will live on.
Rest In Peace Satoshi-Sama. Another genius has faded away from this world. It was shocking to hear that you've passed away. Thank you for everything. You will remain as one of the most remarkable directors in the anime industry, especially among us fans.
Thanx a lot for all the good Art and Movies you did Satoishi kon RIP
