I have no real problem with the bible, or believing in God.. What I do have a problem with is religion, Taking an idea, and making a belief structure. Yes, they removed homosexuality from the DSM, but the point is not necessarily the specific actions they took, rather it's the way they did it. Nothing about their decisions could be considered scientific. It was a political takeover that spawned an oppressive culture in which certain ideas died.

Frankly, by actually talking to gays/lesbians without being judgmental, I've found them to be exactly the same as anyone else. The only difference is what gender they're attracted to, which I couldn't care less about.

Proposition 8 was more than an assault on gay rights, it set the dangerous precedent that even legally-granted rights can be just snatched away by a popular vote, at any time.

Well I have already shown it twice, so I don't know what else to do other than repeat myself. The morality of a state of being is independent of whether you chose to be that way. You stated that it's not a choice, as if to imply that by that reasoning it was moral. Alcoholism isn't a choice, but it is definitely immoral. On the other side, enjoying a particular style of music isn't really a choice, either, yet music is certain not immoral (hard to call it a moral choice, really...).

Why should the government tell me who I can marry? If I want to marry 5 women and 3 guys it's no one's business but mine and the people I want to marry. Allah had more than 10 wives. It shouldn't even have anything to do with age. There are laws that protect children from being physically and mentally harmed, but a child of any age should be able to 'get married' as soon as they can say the words 'I Do'. Being married does not mean you can have sex with that person against their will or the law.

That's one small group of people, I'm gay and I'd never do anything like that - many of us are respectful of other people's views. You can't take one example and proclaim that everyone with from the same minority group think or will act in the same way.
You're right heavenstinyangels (to a certain extent) but the comparison is unrealistic. Whereas LGBT people are a minority group, Christians make up the vast majority of the US population and are therefore not under any major threat from the government imposing policies, and similarly organizations who oppose their being, scapegoating them and making others scared of them.
The only general "hatred" of any kind towards Christians is due to people seeing nutty groups liking Focus on Family and gathering stereotypes towards them that's why other moderate Christian groups should work together to demonize the extreme views of these groups in order for people's perception of the Christian faith to be positive, rather than opposing

I have no real problem with the bible, or believing in God.. What I do have a problem with is religion, Taking an idea, and making a belief structure. The bible was written ( I think) for that particular point in time. I don't think the same rules in the bible apply to people today, if that were the case than People would NOT work on sunday, you couldn't plant two different crops together, and wool and cotton wouldn't be worn together and yes those are true scriptures..lol

I never said it was a choice, either, at least not in the usual sense of the word. It's definitely not a choice in the same sense of "Do I want chicken or steak?"
However, you don't CHOOSE to become an alcoholic, it develops over the course of many individual choices. Similarly, you also don't CHOOSE to have a preference for a specific food. It develops in the same way. So the morality of something is completely independent of whether or not you chose to be that way in the active sense.

Well I have already shown it twice, so I don't know what else to do other than repeat myself. The morality of a state of being is independent of whether you chose to be that way. You stated that it's not a choice, as if to imply that by that reasoning it was moral. Alcoholism isn't a choice, but it is definitely immoral. On the other side, enjoying a particular style of music isn't really a choice, either, yet music is certain not immoral (hard to call it a moral choice, really...).

Why should the government tell me who I can marry? If I want to marry 5 women and 3 guys it's no one's business but mine and the people I want to marry. Allah had more than 10 wives. It shouldn't even have anything to do with age. There are laws that protect children from being physically and mentally harmed, but a child of any age should be able to 'get married' as soon as they can say the words 'I Do'. Being married does not mean you can have sex with that person against their will or the law.

Whereas LGBT people are a minority group, Christians make up the vast majority of the US population and are therefore not under any major threat from the government imposing policies, and similarly organizations who oppose their being, scapegoating them and making others scared of them.

I guess thats what catches me totally off guard. I dont agree that the church is not under threat by the government. I think OBAMA wants to socialize religion. The CHURCH of the USA is not far off, in my humble opinion.

There is, and always should be a seperation between church and state in America. This allows people of other religions, political groups, social ideologies and of course homosexuals, to live and prosper in peace, among everyone else, regardless of certain peoples prejudices. Obama knows discrimination, being an African American, and he will never "socialize religion" whatever that's supposed to mean. LOL

Where did the churches get thousands and thousands of dollars to push this bit of legistlation in certain states. Instead of using that money for feeding the poor, educaton programs for underpriviledge students, poor families. Instead, the religious right spent TAX FREE DOLLARS on culture war. THE. CHURCH. As it was pointed out you were incorrect about the 70 mil. But whatever money was spent on the the pro gay side of this issue was spent to protect gay rights, as gays already were given the right to marry moths beforehand. Prop 8 was created by anti-gay organizations so the full blame of this outrageous expense lies with the creators of prop 8. I give to charity ever so often. Instead of giving to feed the hungry this time, I gave to protect my rights as a California citizen.

They are filing as non-profits, and there are basic rules that govern that. If you don't follow those rules, you don't get to be a non-profit ... even if you want to throw the word 'religion' at them.
If the IRS slacks these rules more I don't see any reason why I can't just, say, file my secular buisness as being religious. I'll throw a cross above the couch and a buddah in the bathroom for good measure.
