  • Beauty full

  • Mark E. is the most normal honest suffering human who does hide behind fakeness...He's somewhat should be an example to all bastards of the world! If there was one guy i'd be honored to smoke with it'd be him

  • @skankadelic7 I think you mean 'does not hide behind fakeness' ;)

  • @u2mixer correct! i'm dyslexic that's my excuse

  • I discovered Eels about 2 years ago...Not till recently I've learned a lot about front man Mark Everett and his life.

I was lucky enough to catch Parallel Worlds on Pbs. It was very intriguing his life his experiences.Who he became the lyrics of songs that's what music is about .I love The Eels I wish Me and my wife would get to see them perform live in concert someday. Come to Texas!!!! .It'll be the bomb!!! Keep on ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!! peace out....Ralph

  • This song speaks to me so much. I can relate with everything he says.

  • This shows the true beauty that can ly behind the intent within an anxious persons day to day love the song :)

  • amazing work with the video! love it! thank you!

  • "but my heart is in the right place, and this I know"

  • E's father was a quantum scientist ... he invented multiple reality theory

  • always puts a chill down my spine when he says " i feel like hes with me now...even though hes dead."

  • E writes the nicest lyrics.

  • For some reason, i think this guy smokes a lot of weed!

  • Thanksalot, incredible sound

  • I want to meet this guy so damn bad. He seems so down to earth.

  • nice CELESTE amp @ 1:01

  • i dont live the house much and i dont like being around people.

  • A beautiful, tortured soul ...

  • This song has the best message of anything ever written by man.

  • I love all his CD's and I love his book. If I ever bumped into him in public, I'd want to thank him for helping me through so much shit in my life. Not to be a creeper or anything, but I've got a weird sense that he's kind of my friend. But if I ever DID meet him, I'd probably get too choked up to really say much.

    Thanks for the music, E.

  • @goldeneye45935

    completely agree with you.

  • so much love for Mark, just a damn fine man. Changed how i see loss, i have had much loss but in a way, well this makes it ok.

  • Great video!!

  • genius!!!! enough said!

  • Great song. The father part got to me. I relate.

  • Brilliant song that makes me cry without fail, particularly the part about his father. AND the fact that E doesn't have kids, so most likely won't have grandchildren. Don't worry man, we'll make sure the grandchildren know.

  • yes

  • amazing song by an amazing guy - i`ve just read his book which was riveting .

Thanks E for all your songs i have on my ipod and laptop, best wishes from the UK

  • This is one of my favourite video on youtube.

  • very good song.....and a touching video. Mark did a brave thing by retracing the steps of his father.

  • You did an amazing job with an incredibly brilliant song.

I had no hesitation favouriting this video.

  • Thank you so much. Your video made me cry -never a bad thing. keep up the good work my friend

  • This song's lyrics make a LOT more sense once you learn that Eels' father Everett was a physicist and concocted the theory of multiple universes. RE: "I know what it must have been like for my father to live inside his head."

  • Wunderbar - (German)

    Maravilhoso - ( Portuguese)

  • I adore Uncle E. The voice of crazy sanity in my life. Bless you a million times over, E. You have been the soundtrack of my 30s. Okay 40s now too. We all outgrow the Clash eventually. Kind of. God, what a poet you are. A family of hideous gifts. Thank you, a million times thank you. All my love and admiration.

  • and his story shall remain as long as there are people who listen to him. What better mark on history could you ask for?

  • if it wasnt from hearing a segment of the song Beautiful Freak on a tv trailer, I wouldnt have known who he is. People need to know more about this brilliant man, I feel like i should have known of him 2-3 years earlier. But I understand that he isnt 'mtv' material and to be honest im pretty damn glad about that. I just hope that more people would know of him, he doesnt make music, he creates them.

the bit at the end made me cried when i was watching the whole documentary.just so heart breaking

  • I cried , songs don't do that to me.

Amazing ! E is pure genius.

    Seen them once , Fabulous.

If they ever come to your town its a must see show. Thanks for the upload I've never this before

  • thanks alot !

  • i love the song ,

my daughter does too , shes fifteen now and a big eels fan

    thanks for the video .

  • I wrote this song, in another universe....

  • This awesome. Thanks for making this.

  • that was great, thank you

  • This song is so perfect -

    I just wish I didn't understand it..

  • with people like Mr. E, society has hope.

  • And with people that like E as well. This song should be on MTV all the time so the kids stop killing each other

  • this guy just seems so nice. shame the majority of the worlds population isnt made of up ppl like him. damn shame.

  • @fleebus090 Well we can be like him in a way don' t you think... we can be respectful, interested and sympathetic to others, god damn it's so much harder to love than to hate, to genuinely understand another... just think about how truely good you'll feel after you've helped someone

  • @fleebus090 Why? Im so glad there not alot of people like him because that is what makes him so unique and special, It makes his music that much better.

  • Painfully relatable.......... Thanks E

  • Thanks E ! You music like your dads work is positive for mankind!

  • thanks is all I can think to say. once in while you find a song where it all adds up.

  • "I feel like he's here with me now.

    Even though he's dead."

devastating. Thank you for this video, the documentary footage fits perfectly with the song.

  • Great video, top job.

I just saw the PBS special he did about his dad, very moving so it's your video.

    Million thanks for sharing.

  • I saw the Nova special too and was also touched. I always liked the handful of songs I knew from the eels and now I have a deeper appreciation for their creator.

  • Really really great. brillient editing, I am moved.

    Thankyou...

  • For years, I thought I didn't like the Eels. It's a true testament to a band's greatness when I initially hate them and then grow to like them -- especially when songs so musically simple as this are poignant enough to truly win me over.

I really think E is a maverick and an artistic genius. Classic.

  • @Hi ..i was the same..then one day it clicked, this guy is a genius when it comes to putting his life and thoughts into song..I relate to so much of his story maybe i was too afraid to listen..but not now.

  • @shuckslbj how could you don't like the eels?

  • Well done video! Huge Eels fan here and this video was excellent

  • i enjoyed the bbc documentry on eels his father was one very clever man mark seems like a very chilled out dude an this song is an masterpiece i think its a case of like father like son but in two differnt parrel worlds lol if he ever comes on tour to liverpool uk i will deffinitly go and see hime :)

  • My favourite song.

  • Brilliant!

  • i got to say this is truly amazing. very well done.

  • Lovely.

I can say for sure I'm a true Everettian.

  • amazing

  • This video was awsome. I love the eels! E's songs have really help me in some bad times. I hope you do more vidoes of them :)

  • nice video. i love the eels and that song is soo good. does anyone know where i can get the documentary online? i live in America so the bbc sight doesn't let me use theres. thanks peace

  • You don't happen to have a video of him on The Culture Show on Sat 1st March do you? I sadly missed it! Great video by the way!

  • Sorry man I haven't, but I'll keep an eye out for the repeat.

  • great song, great video, great work! as great as U2 is/are and as much variety as there is within their catalog, it's nice to switch it up once in awhile. ;-) thanks for sharing it-

  • On a completely unrelated note, I wish Bobby, Jr. were my dog.

  • The "I'm turning out just like my father..." verse puts a lump in my throat. Every time.

  • That is the exact line that grabbed my attention the first time, and why I listen to this again every once in a while. without that line, this is just a three chord throwaway song, but with it, really a good song (but impossible to cover well)

  • This is really awesome. I love it. :)

  • Brilliant. Nicely done.

  • very good!
