Very beautiful tunes and lyrics, hopeful and gloomy (almost melancholy) which isn't unusual in Swedish music and poetry. The translation of such work isn't easy, this is quite good though, considering words can have wider meaning and different nuances in different languages.

And I know that those who has departed this life ( it literary means leave us but the context and the nuances suggest passed away)

have come to realise that the living are (we used as meaning the living)

as flickering flame as long as we resides with the living

Though stensopp666's translation is much more poetic than mine, it doesn't quite capture the swedish text, so I tried to make one of my own. Please forgive my swenglish guys. I think it at least almost follow the music.

No I don´t speak swedish (yet!) =), and what you said is interesting. I used to think like that too about my own language but I actually find english quite beautiful too. I think once you learn other languages you also learn to value your own more (I also speak spanish), plus you get some training on separating meaning from sounds
