This new years eve I'll be having a few drinks at home , and having a laugh with my young family and at midnight we'll open the front door and let in the new year.
Twenty years ago , I was somewhere on this video , absolutely twatted , having the time of my life.
Happy new year to all you 'old' Hac heads , good health and happiness for 2011.
Also used to go to quadrant park doorstaff there were scumbags remember them trying to tax one of the lads we travelled up with, brawling not good when off your tits. . .
Used to travel up from the midlands about twice a month and Damian the doorman would let us sraight in no queing no messing would lovt to know what he was upto now. . . .
@outy1978 Thanks for the reply thats really bad news he was a top fella, the doorstaff there had a bad reputation but we always found them great, cant remember any of the others but Damian i think looked after people who had travelled a long way. . .RIP. . .
@dixon97a He was killed in a bike accident in tenerife. Was on the back of a bike that was runover by a garbage truck, believe it or not, as big as he was. PS his surname was NOONAN. google it.
i envy the people hu went to the ass! been brought up wiv the tunes all my life coz of ma mam n dad heard all the storys n like settend and the thunder dome n sequins
Sorry guys but the HAc was fuckin wank in 1991. Sure, 88/89 it was shit hot, but other cluns were miles better than the hac...Konspiracy..Thunderdome...the hac started playing boring music as a backlash angainst the harder belgian tunes/breakbeat that was coming out in late 1990/1991. It was also to keep the 'riff-raff' out. If you wanna see a PROPER atmosphere, check out the quad park video opposite. Now that was a proper club. BTW, I spent NYE 1991-1992 in the Hippodrome, Middleton!
@konspiracykid the Banshee on oxford street was the best, followed by new dawn at Rockworld. Went to the hippodrome once, not very welcoming. I used to travel every week from Chester, with a few of my mates, even on my own sometimes. Top nights with the Mix Factory Dj's, who I became very good friends with.
@outy1978 Thanks, god i wish i was around in this era, although i admit i prefer daft punk, deadmau5 and all of todays house artists simply cos it's my generation, there doesn't seem to be anything like this these days...
I was there no shit,im 38 and was a die hard Hac fan,the Thunderdome in Ancoats was another session monster of a club Jay and Mogy on the decks oh and me acasionally.Good Times.
@konspiracykid i was the lad on the crutches if you ever remember seeing me and the thuderdome, hippos, shellys in stoke was much better than the hacienda.after 90 it was just some where local to go to....
@daveisspidey Everytime I went through the f***ing doors into the club I felt Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz landing in OZ. LOL-It was very special. So many happy memories.
wow i was 2 when this was wish i would of been 20! old skool is sick! just a shame this kind of thing will never happen again music has changed so much!allthis crappy gay pop shit and rnb shit.:(
wow looks so nice. dreamy happy atmosphere and music. i were never in places like this in real lofe, only in my imagianation trhough the radio and cassette player
Whatever happend to the hac DJ Steve williams..he just quit during the summer of 91 n dissappeared without a trace even sold all his tunes..know this cos leeds rickys dj farah bought some n then e fucked off djing but i know where he ended up he works in relic records in Leeds ,but where is steve williams n whats he doin now
DREAMIN DA DREAMS OF DA DREAM KEEPING IT REAL UPWARDS N ONWARDS FOREVER AND A DAY FIGHTING ON FOR DA CAUSE TILL DA DAY I DROP....
Around 2003 Steve Luigi used to work in a record shop in Leeds city centre with another guy. I used to buy records from him reguarly, I think he owned the shop
Nice! Actually, the very very last tune being just mixed in is defo C&C Music Factory - Just a Touch of Love... Most likely the Keyboard Express mix. How about that for sharp I.D'ing :)
No footage but I remember the freak nights well, run by Paul Cons. The best atmosphere I saw in there was the Hacienda Classics series throughout summer 96.
Sorry clicked remove on your last comment on Part 1 by accident. I didn't start going to the Hacienda until 94 but I heard 88 was rocking in there as well. :)

what's that right at the start where they all start kicking off massive time?
jm338 1 year ago
@jm338
The tune is 'blow - cutter' but the crowd are going crazy for the 'landlord i like it'' piano riff which was a massive hacienda classic from 1989.
