The US government needs to start their own oil company. Hire former petroleum employees and drill on federal lands. Compete against the private oil companies in order to control the prices. After all the oil actually belongs to the American people. Saudi supports their citizens education and medical care from their oil profits.

There's a simple way. Reduce the number of people in congress and the senate/
. Let them drive their own vehicles, pay for their own travel expenses, most of them could use some exercise, so why don't they walk.
Every time you you see them in a big SUV, put them in one of the little crappy cars they want us to buy.
The best idea is to remove the credit cards, stop paying more than their salaries, and them maybe they won't waste so much of our time and get things done

Yeah euthanising the stupid people would be another nice stopgap measure for the medium-term, to aid conservation. Sadly I guess we'd have to redefine stupid, since at this point we'd be euthanising mostly everyone then.
