Because in reality, this song was a joke with her husband about a redheaded bank teller that her husband was flirting with. It's more of a parody really even though it is interpreted as a dreadful song.

This is one of my favorite country songs.

Don't kill me, but I like the White Stripes version even better. It has the raw emotion that Dolly can't touch. Not that her version sucks; it's great.

This song is, or at least is structured as such, a devastating song, and I think Jack White captures that feeling when he performs it. I like the Stripes version best too. But Dolly is great (her song after all).

you are not missing much. dolly is rarely there now. She only comes for about three days every other month and can be seen for about five minutes at a time. plus the park is getting boring now. it has lost its country theme.

Thanks for posting this. Dolly looks gorgeous and sings beautfully, as usual. I vaguely remember Ronnie Prophet frm the mid' '70s, but I don't remember his having a show at all. Did it broadcast in the U.S. too, or only in Canada?
