I can understand hunting for food after all I'm not exactly a vegan nor will I ever be. But to call hunting a sport is like using dynamite to fish. Seriously how dangerous is that deer to a man with a (basically) sniper rifle? Any true sport should involve risk. The only risk to the hunter is another hunter. And don't start talking about managing the population the predators we wiped out did that better. Hunting is about killing plain and simple. We are killers and we ravel in it.

It strange to go back and look at this with regard to when it was made had what was going on at the time. There was a big Eco-movement to regulate game hunting as well as a big influx of fire arms into urban and suburban areas. For kids back then there wasn't a big message about anything aside from what the song said. Getting the point across with muppets was the best way to try to get that kind of idea across.

Uhm thats not true at all, my girlfriend and I both live in a seriously redneck community and her entire family is hunters, but both her and I still despise hunting and so do many of her friends who ALSO grew up in this community. If you're eating for protein, go ahead and eat insects (I hear their good, especially if raised in a clean environment). But I like beef, beef is tasty. You are correct this was actually about a demonstration, but like I said earlier the soldiers who went to Vietnam adopted it and thats why most people associate it with Vietnam rather than the demonstration it was based upon.
ACTUALLY...it IS about California. The original song is about the Sunset Strip club in West Hollywood closing and the protests surrounding. So, instead of judging others so quickly, you might want to catch up on YOUR history since the song was recorded 4 years before Nam.
OK he may not have written it about Vietnam, but the veterans who went to Vietnam took it & adopted it to better explain how they felt in Vietnam. It was a way for them to communicate to the people at the time about what happened over there. He wrote it for a different reason but most Vietnam Vets will say that this song like Fortunate Son by CCR had a way of helping them readjust to society after the war. So please don't take it away from them, its one of the last few things they have left.
The original Buffalo Springfield song, "For What It's Worth" was supposedly about protests over a club closing. The lyrics are substantially different in this version though, making it a good bit more kid friendly than the original. I still consider it one of my favorite pieces from the original Muppet Show.
Jim Henaon was a genius. Muppets rule and so do the Buffalo Springfield who wrote the song. It is a relevant anti-war song and everyone should pay attention.

Spongebob and eveything on nick jr. rots the brain and melts the imagination. It makes kids strive for mere mediocrity. Shows like the muppets showed children how to learn and have fun at the same time. It taught people how to use their imagination.

And I'm not sure about DayinShade but I for one am certainly not spoiled or sheltered, quite the opposite in fact but I still manage to afford organic foods (ever hear of the 100 mile diet?) and to not eat innocent animals, but @DayinShade there's no changing selfish people like Metool2, so its not worth it.

Poignant.... though, to be fair, hunters, at least in North America, where there are regulations on hunting, aren't a big concern for conservation of wilderness biodiversity- it's the clear-cutting, gmos, pollution, mountaintop removal, apoxic zones, and climate change that we gotta worry about now.

I remember this from being a kid as well. My mother then turned me on to the Buffalo Springfield and, later, CSN. I have to agree with the comments about today's childrens' shows not having much substance. I seriously doubt Mr. Stills had any problem with this parody.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE ORIGINAL SONG WAS ABOUT A DEMONSTRATION(aka protest). It was a specific one that i cannot remember at the moment. Stop making stupid stuff up. Learn some history about Nam. Please fr the love of god. If you didn't know alot of demonstrations ended with death. Search Kent State Shooting. That is one example. The man with the gun is obviously police. young people speaking their minds...(protesters) So yeah. Its not about California dimwit

You are correct this was actually about a demonstration, but like I said earlier the soldiers who went to Vietnam adopted it and thats why most people associate it with Vietnam rather than the demonstration it was based upon.

ACTUALLY...it IS about California. The original song is about the Sunset Strip club in West Hollywood closing and the protests surrounding. So, instead of judging others so quickly, you might want to catch up on YOUR history since the song was recorded 4 years before Nam.

OK he may not have written it about Vietnam, but the veterans who went to Vietnam took it & adopted it to better explain how they felt in Vietnam. It was a way for them to communicate to the people at the time about what happened over there. He wrote it for a different reason but most Vietnam Vets will say that this song like Fortunate Son by CCR had a way of helping them readjust to society after the war. So please don't take it away from them, its one of the last few things they have left.

The original Buffalo Springfield song, "For What It's Worth" was supposedly about protests over a club closing. The lyrics are substantially different in this version though, making it a good bit more kid friendly than the original. I still consider it one of my favorite pieces from the original Muppet Show.

This scene was definitely made as a video for this song. Made in November 1977 and broadcast during the 1977-1978 season, this predates MTV coming on the air by three years.

Spongebob and eveything on nick jr. rots the brain and melts the imagination. It makes kids strive for mere mediocrity. Shows like the muppets showed children how to learn and have fun at the same time. It taught people how to use their imagination.

its not just nick that has crap on it, its disney channel and other stupid shows that they make these days that is the problem, they need to get back to airing stuff not aimed directly at one demographic, and start showing family based entertainment like the old mickey, donald duck, and goofy cartoons. they were old when i saw as a kid in the 80s and 90s and they are a lot better than this crap they have now like hannah idiottanna and idiotcarly.
