  • I don't have to go see this. BAAASically BW don't like their own hair. Dollar well saved.

  • 1:40

    - Matted Tangled Hair

  • "IF YOUR HAIR IS RELAXED, WHITE PEOPLE ARE RELAXED. IF YOUR HAIR IS NAPPY, THEY'RE NOT HAPPY" - The Best.

  • I'm a white girl from France and i love black hair! :D

  • WHY aren't white men feeling the need to make a film on white women who get implants, injections, suntans, etc.?..and WHY just the focus on black women? Black men were perming it up since WAAAAY black..The only brotha you saw in the 40s, 50s, and early 60s that didn't conk-up was Sam Cooke..and in the 80s, more men than women were sporting the jheri curl..This could've been a great documentary if it came from someone who had a SINCERE concern for this issue, but Chris Rock is fullashit ..

  • One of the things I didn't like about this movie is that it really only focuses on black women and their hair. Black men have hair, too, and their own unique stories that go along with it.

This documentary was entertaining, but fairly disappointing, and not as informative as it could have been.

  • I honestly straighten my hair cuz I don't know how to deal with it curly. Tonssss of work. but MAN I want to see this!

  • How funny is tht : 00:15 if Ur hair is Relaxed White PPL are relaxed , if ur Hair is Nappy White PPL arn't Happy xD

  • i feel bad for black women because their hair is so hard to deal with. i already put so much work into my hair, i cant imagine doing more

  • 00:33 is my favourite

  • FUCK BLACK WOMEN WHO DO SHIT TO THEIR HAIR, YOU'RE BEUTIFUL ALREADY WHY YOU WANNA WASTE TIME 'N SHIT

  • @lentejTV9 so it's not "fuck black women", but "fuck the ideal that says you need to look white to be beautiful"

  • Who is the actress at 1:12

  • @9maria91 meagan good

  • After this movie, I couldn't respect black women anymore

  • @284436 you might want to refer to the women in this movie and not all black women.i can guarentee you that not all black women have their mindset. and you really have to be ignorant to judge all black women by these womens actions

  • @284436 I guess we would be more "respected" if we wore fake boobs more, got ass implants, and got lip injections ...Don't use that wak-ass excuse for not wanting to like black women ...cuz black men were perming it up since WAAAAY black (i.e., Nat King Cole) ...You didn't even see a brotha in the 40s, 50s, and early 60s that wasn't "conked" up ...and let's not even go into the 80s, and the jheri curl ...More men was sporting that than females

  • 1) White people Ain't Studying You So stop saying that white people want black folk's hair to be straight. White ppl dont think about black people enough to want that or anything for that matter. 2) Black women get relaxers because thats just what little black girls do. So in 2011 thats it- nothing deeper than that. 3) Please stop with all the "Self-hatred" crap because Black women just dont want to break a comb on their hair because those naps are hard to handle if u dont know any better.

  • @wataki2 You clearly don't understand the nature of culture. "Whiteness" has been the default condition for centuries. Do African women Africa get relaxing? Nope.

  • @TacticusPrime Straight hair is whiteness? Really? White people aren't the only race with naturally straight hair. Asian people have naturally straight hair too.

  • @wataki2 Straight hair is a very common characteristic of whiteness, like round eyes and, the kicker, light skin. I never said that Asians don't have straight hair. I said that America's cultural supposition for centuries has been that the idea form is white, which generally includes straight hair. It's not just a question of practicality, or relaxing/straightening would be common in Africa.

  • I just don't understand how something fake makes someone feel real, you've got to be quite shallow upstairs. That assimilated negress look donned by the likes of Kelly Rowland really doesn't do anything for me, if anything all I see is the deep rooted self hatred which people seem to think how you look and having money eliminates the complex. Give me a natural African Empress any day.

  • Im 11 year old African American & Cuban girl my hair is soo thick & long & when I saw this movie I just stopped putting bad hair prouducts in my hair I love my hair the way it is(:

  • damn you chris rock i sat through 1hr 30mins of hair should of known tho the movie is called hair, but i find it very educational seeing what black women of america go through but personally i think women look good nappy, natural or bald.

  • 2:01 If you see some black women just run the other way... hahaha. Oh black people.

  • LOOOOL "HELL NO NOT A BLACK WOMAN"

  • I want to see this movie, so I can understand why black people think the straighter the better. I"m 17 and I had been getting relaxers since I was 7, and week ago, I big chopped my hair down to like 2 inches after 4 months without the creamy crack. I'm natural! And I LOVE IT! And i can't believe I put my hair through the abuse that is the relaxer. Black hair is so beautiful and I'm seeing more and more girls going natural now a days! I love it! "

I'd rather die an original that a copy"

  • I love how this documentary explores the connotations of good/bad hair, and also delves deep into prejudice and expected images of black women across america. great video =]

  • whats that woman's name at 1.29..anyone??

  • @TearDropOfLove melissa ford

  • @enditall727 shouldve known, thanks x

  • I really loved this documentary It was really an Eye OPENER for a lot of people I know. For a lot of my clients that wanted to go without a relaxer I suggested micro illusions hair extensions they use no heat,no glue,no chemicals and best of all they last a YEAR. It works well for people who have thin or bald spots due to perms.Visit my channel for more info.

  • who is the girl at 1:13 ?

    she looks like scarlett johansson

  • @sean57954 raven symone

  • This is really unfortunate, I have straight and dull hair and I have always dreamed of having curls, and big black hair. Then I see people who do trying to dull up their hair.. I've learned to accept my hair, but I still get really sad when I see people doing all of those things shown. There is nothing sexier and beautiful than big strong natural hair. Love yourself, don't let anyone tell you that what you have is bad or worse. Don't try to compare your hair, body, genes... all beauty is unique.

  • Style of First Lady Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, to name a few have beautiful hair, women, black, white, mixed, any colour, change their hair, their looks..much like fashion we love to change our hair dos~ fashion, fun, or traditional, ~its all good~its beautiful

  • Gotta love Chris Rock

  • I'm glad I'm half Hispanic. No wonder my black boyfriend likes to touch my hair cause its soft && smooth && it's not black hair! :D

  • @monkeyfbaby You're excruciatingly pathetic :s

  • @monkeyfbaby

so called 'black hair' comes in ALL different textures, from the uncomeable 'nappy' to wavy/straight and that's the same with biracial people who are half black. p.s. latinos can have afro hair too.

i take it you're about 12 or early teen by your comment. i guess you just need educating.

  • @monkeyfbaby You are an idiot, you realise latinos can have really really tight curly hair.

  • Can anyone suggest other documentaries like this? Or that they enjoyed?

  • @queenimayya hahaa to look good for a brotha.

    hahaha

  • Can you make a movie putting together all of the thousands of Youtube together and showing how black women are embracing their hair in record numbers? That would really HELP. I have had natural hair for 19 years - meaning in 1994 I started wearing my hair completely natural with no special products, hair dressers or support for my choice. That is much more interesting than perms.

  • @FreestylezKilla lauren london

  • this movie was so interesting. I had no idea black peoples hair was naturally nappy without relaxers...and that so many wore wigs or hairpieces, definitely interesting. Plus Chris Rock is hilarious, love him.

  • ME don't want no africa!!!!

  • I wanna see this movie sooo bad! but here in switzerland they didn't show it in cinema :( so do somebody know where I can watch this film? on a internet page or something like that?

  • 10 to 14 inches.... p**no? LOL. :D

  • I saw this film last night. If you're looking for a pretty lighthearted and entertaining film, this one is perfect. This film is awesome! I saw it for free on fillmsi.co.cc..The all star cast is great!

  • I'm 12 years old. I cut off ALL of my relaxed hair and I have about an in of hair on my head right now. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that I feel the best and the most beautiful I have EVER felt in my life.

  • @100PersentSmart :) good for you!

  • @100PersentSmart

I am so relieved to hear your comment. Good for you!

  • @100PersentSmart YOU GO GIRL! :) you remind me of the girls tyra banks preaches about <3

  • @100PersentSmart i did the same thing when i wa 15. at around 14 i washed my hair and felt "new growth" it was soft and curly/coily. i wanted all my hair that texture. i stumbled upon natural hair on youtube so i thought about cutting it and watched big chop videos for like 3 or 4 months. then one day i just cut it. everyone was like NOOO girl why u cut ur hair. they didnt understand that for me it was for the better.

  • I tried to deny it and think the first one was the best but in all honesty, this was the most action packed sequel to date!! LOVED IT! go watch it on fillmsi.co.cc people!

  • This film's gonna feel like it will "BLOW YOU" away... it's gonna "GET HARD! ACTION! NONSTOP" ... lot's of SHOOTING! and EXCITMENT!.. in and out of the film. Can't wait to see on sitemoovis.co.cc, and enjoy this film.

  • I didn't grow up in America, so when i came back and they said "good hair", I had no clue what they were talking about. I was thinking to myself, how can hair be good, it's an object. LOL I seriously thought they meant the hair did good Samaritan deeds or something.

And THEN my cousins said, "you black". I was like, yes. ... They were brought up thinking that dark skin meant you were inferior. Can you imagine? I never grew up around that retardedness.

  • black is beautiful

& they aint picking on whites so STFU!

  • Black females are the least desired. If they try to look white they might actually attract a male. Nappy hair looks like shit, that's why black males shave it off completely.

  • Very funny! And Ice T needs to shut up with his wack, sellin' out, lame ass........

  • As a half white and hispanic girl who has curls, I LOVE natural black hair. The kinky-curlier the prettier! I think it's awesome when I see a black woman, or man, wearing natural hair. And even if it's a fro, that just means she's got swag and ain' afraid of how God made her!

  • I like women with fro's

  • Great documentary!

  • I don't usually like Sharpton, but DAMN that was a great comeback.

  • im like indain and that guy who doesnt know what porn is hilarous cuz most indain ban talking about sex

  • Itspossible im a black/indian girl with straight hair and i have naturally straightish hair and ppl always ask me if i have a weave and its annoying. my dad went to see this movie and said it was good but its true you dont touch the hair

  • I just watched Good Hair.

I think this movie picks on white people a little unfairly. A common theme in the movie is black ppl attempting to make their hair look like "white ppl hair."

But the long, flowing, relaxed hair that black ppl strive for is had by Chinese, East Indian, Persian, Mediterranean, Hispanic, Native American, etc.

But I think thats what makes the plight of AA's understandable, their hair looks different than every other race & a womans esteem is strongly tied to her beauty.

  • @StuUngar Picked on unfairly? Are you serious?? When AA's were bought to America, they were taught that the epitome of 'beauty' was to look as close to 'caucasian' as possible. There were even skin bleaching systems marketed to black people guaranteed to make them look pretty & successful. Ever since, black women have been stuck with that stigma. So it's not neccessarily 'picking on white people a little unfairly'

  • @Tamz1989 I'm full native american & i grew up in a poor area that was mostly black. Girls would tell my older sister and her hispanic friends that they wished they had their hair.

Maybe the AAs were just being nice bc I was indian, but Id get compliments on my hair & hear about their indian ancestors who were freedman slaves.

In the movie, it said several times of wanting "relaxed, flowing hair like caucasions." White ppl arent the only ones who have "good hair," but they were singled out.

  • @StuUngar Yeah the thing is Asians have the straightest and most used hair weird eh

  • Chris Rock nailed it. His interview with Al Sharpton was fantastic! His comic genius was heavily laced throughout the whole film.

  • Just, most people want what they don't have. I had afro hair, and I went through loads of trouble(relaxing, steamining) to get it straight. Then u see all these white girls backcombing and adding volume to their hair. Im glad though, that a movie has come out explaining why were so overprotective haha

  • I Love My "Nappy" Hair. :)

God Blessed All Of Us Black Girls & Women With It So We Should Be Proud. Personally, I Think The Media Has Had A GREAT Deal In All Of This "Good Hair" Crap. Figures Because The Media Is Run By Jews...They Really Must Don't Like Us Black People. Oh Well, I Don't Really Give A Fxxk. ;D

  • 27 people cant relax mauhahahha

  • lmaoo good movie .

  • Black hair may be great for women, but now for guys when we wanna style our hair up with wax! Trust me on this one, its just to thick !

  • @Jatsun95 ilove black dudes hair. i love the waves!

  • Meagan Good is gorgeous!

  • Meagan good is fucking hottt!!!

  • a black women with a wig, weave or perm gets ZERO play from me cause it shows me her minds is off. if i were to have a daughter with her she would then pass that filth onto my bloodline.

  • Lol everybody likes black hair except black people, go figure. Its sad but all a natural girl can do is laugh to keep from screaming :)

  • @silentthunda35 If everyone liked black hair except for blacks blacks would not feel pressured to alter it because it is appreciated. Also good hair means different things to different people. So there is no one definition for it. To some people it means long hair, straight hair, loosely curled hair, or hair that is just well kept. Good hair is not always about how straight or curly the hair is. Cause anyone can wear their hair straight or curly.

  • looks more like a documentary than a comedy to me. well done chris rock this looks like it will be an eye opener for most of the people that will watch it.

  • Loved this doc, definitely a fascinating subject i knew absolutely nothing about.

  • this is soo true. when i was younger, my mom would use a very light perm mostly to detangle my hair. she would use it so often that i believed it was my real hair. imagined what happened when my natural hair grew out and i had to comb it. i was literally in tears cus it was so nappy and i didnt know what to do with it. now that i'm 17 i'm still learning how to properly take care of my hair. when i make my hair natural and short, my friends actually compliment me and say i look like a model ;)

  • I think this documentary launched the natural hair movement we see in the youth today

  • is he tryin 2 promote nappy hair

  • Comment removed

  • I have black hair, and i love my nappy hair :) People dig it :D

  • Lol I always found it bullshit for the fact that black women think their better with relaxed hair. My mom has natural relaxed hair (she has a white mother) and would think that she's better than other black women with nappy hair. I didn't accept her attitude though because I'm an afrocentrist. She now accepts that everyone is equal, different yet equal. I feel sorry for the black women that do think tehy are less worthy because of their hair.

  • I want black hair. >:(

  • @StrivingSinner hahaha no you do not! trust me. its not as fun as some people make it out ot be. i have just come to accept it but i know when i am older i am getting a weave. you wouldnt last a day with it lol.

  • @BowieZeppelinDoors14 I dunno..my hair is a pain because I flat iron it, but it's also nice to know I can wear it in an afro if I want. I feel like I have more options than people with non-black hair. But then again, I got long hurr don't curr.

  • @StrivingSinner no you don't my friend no you don't

  • loool @ lay away for hair

  • "has anyone ever tried to steal your hair?" "no..?" "if you see some black women, just run the other way!" LMAO .

  • why can't good hair be hair that's nice and shiny and healthy?

  • chris rock is a disgrace to the black race

  • that bitch at 1:11 is wearing a metallica copy shirt or w/e it is

its the cover of the master of puppets album but really fucked up

take that off bitch you don't even know what it is

  • this will last prince about a month

  • Terrible :( Then again how many white girls are bottle blondes? Everyone needs to chill out and be happy with what they have. Though I do wish I had more of it :( (fivehead going on sixhead)

  • who';s the girl at 1.11?

  • The girl @ 1.11 is Lauren London

  • Watch,'.Movies.;'Online~''Here~"`

    COPY,':THE.`,URL,';ABOVE,..

  • who is the girl at 1:11?

  • HA!! 'Indian biggest export is human hair'.... ? read a book chris

  • Just bought this DVD tonight I'm looking forward to watching it

  • why dont black girls let people touch thier hair?

  • @lovelilylove11 because the hair is not theirs

  • @JohnsLazy yeah but still if i had fake hair i would still let people touch it..... i dont see y they dont want people to touch it..

  • @lovelilylove11 unlike white hair, it doesn't return to its normal shape when you mess with it or touch it. we have to go fix it all over again.

  • who is the girl at 1:12?

  • @unveil64 Meagan Good :)

  • Chris: "Do you let your mum touch your hair"

The old dude:" The question is do I let her touch mine!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Oh my fucking god, like every freaking comment is by a spam bot...

  • This movie really scared me , it doesn't seem this serious over in England but it made me think i never ever want to get mixed in that business, it's too crazy and we have the most diverse hair people just fail to see it >.<

  • hahaha this is hilarious! "if u see a african women just walk the other way" hahah I want to watch this!! what channel is this on?

  • @VanessaShowShow It's a film, so you would have to get it on DVD now.

  • im 11 and if u dont have straight light hair u dont have good hair... thats just the rules

  • @lovelilylove11 well you're still 11 so.. 'nuff sed.

  • wtf is up with the spams...

  • Heyyyyyyyy I REALLY LEARNED FROM THIS YALL SAYS Keeley

    From: HOUSEWIVES OF MISSISSIPPI (video)

  • 1.13 meagan good looks very hot

  • back when I had a black girlfriend, I tried to convince her not to straighten her hair. She spent so much time, but it did look nice in a pony tail. Black people spend A LOT of time and effort on the way they look.

  • and you blacks wonder why the world laughs at you? it's because so many of your own put on this kind of coonery and degrade your women. you would NEVER see men of other races and cultures publically degrading their women like this.

that's coming from a half black person who leans to the non b lack side because of COONERY like this

  • @xhappyrainbow ive seen all kinds of races degrade their women. you need to travel more or something.. or you know not be so damned ignorant. this is coming from a half black girl, who is tri racial (three races) who leans neither side because its not important, i love all races equally and its a non issue to me!

  • @xxpoisenandkissesxx yes, but no one in america publically degrades their own women like black americans.

  • @xhappyrainbow Men of every race degrade their women in one way or another so I don't understand why you only think it happens in the Black community. Maybe you need to learn more about your Black side and every other race before you try to make a comment like this. Also, how in the world did you come up with the degrading women stuff from watching this video?

  • @zutarafan00 it happens MOST PUBLICLY with blacks.

  • OMG I love african's hair i had no idea that thay dont like it

    its news for me O.O

what so wrong with their hair?!

  • @SweetestDollie uh, HELLO! its ugly! im black and im about to watch the documentary now, and ill let u know if my opinion's changes or not, but black hair is most certainly FUGLY. unless you live in the 70's, which is of course LONG GONE. would u rather slide our fingers through smooth silky hair, or corse african jungle mayhem? thank you very much

  • Apparently to that Asian BSS owner, straight hair is more "natural" xD

  • I'm a White dude who happens to know a lot about Black hair products, since I was after all, married to a black woman. I did get to touch her hair once, and she realized I didn't know any better and let it slide, but I never touched it again after that. Although I was fine with her hair whether she straighted it or let it go natural. I for one am not "afraid" of natural hair...

  • gee, and black americans wonder why they are universally hated and are the laughing stock of the world? If I were a black woman, I would be ashamed and disgusted. Black Americans are like crabs in a bucket- always tearing eachother down. black women are at the bottom of every totem pole and to make things worse, black men have no respect for black women.

  • @xhappyrainbow didn't know that "black americans wonder why they are universally hated "

  • @EllysaE well, you people are subhuman filth. every decent black american stays far away from other black americans

  • @xhappyrainbow STFU moron

  • @xhappyrainbow Umm, I don't know whose viewpoint you're making this ridiculous comment from, Because I am a young black woman, and I sure am not at the bottom of any "totem pole". You need help. Go read a book, and maybe you'll come back with a more intelligent comment. Just becausse you lack in respect for yourself, doesn't mean the rest of us do. Just some words of advice. (:

  • @pepperannziggi amen!

  • Nigs

  • Great movie.

  • I learned so much from this movie...

  • paul mooney is a hot mess lololol

  • i love raven!!!

    "yeah, this is a weave,"

    *moves weave*

    "yeah, like that."

  • i'm a 13 year old black girl from central Africa Congo and i LOVE my hair ,black people tend not to have allot of hair but i do, i have ALLOT of hair and it's long too! It turns heads when i walk by ,but i have noticed i'm losing hair. i relax my hair three times a year and use 2 pots of relaxer each time, since i have allot of hair. Lately every time i use relax it burns my scalp which causes hair loss so i have decided to go natural and it's been six months since I've stopped relaxing!

  • @Clawdeeyah1 wow good for u, im 17 and went natural too.

  • @anewmeePassion WooooW Happy 2 Be Nappy! :D <3

  • @JohnBullocks he clearly didn't mean that dude. he just wanted the others to take care of their children. thats all.

  • LMFAOOOOO

  • whoa... why deal drugs when you can sell ...creamy crack!

  • @pepperannziggi I have a feeling when you where younger you thought the white doll was prettier than the black doll.

  • @pepperannziggi who told you black womens natural hair was bad? your mother , step out of slavery for a second put down the hot comb and the creamy crack. Your dreads braids and afro where gorgous until your mother fucked it up when she put an illegal chemical in your head when you where a baby. SCIENTIST SAY THEY PUT THE SAME CHEMICAL IN NUCLEAR BOMBS. try and tell a black women her natural hair is beautiful THEY STILL GET OFFENDED OMG there is no hope for the future.lol
