Looking forward to next spring (of 2012), when he returns to Carnegie Hall here in NYC to play this sonata. A month earlier in the same hall, Richard Goode will also be playing it. This sonata is one of the holy works of the piano repertoire, and this Largo, like, e.g., the closing mvt. of the Beethoven Op. 111, has depth, scope, pure beauty, and emotional force of few other moments in all of music. When he recorded this version, Kissin was still maturing; so I'm looking forward to his return.
I love it, perhaps it's played a bit heavily, but still very soulful and absolutely ethereal...Favorited without question. I will listen to this often to soothe my soul...
Fabulous pianist!
