I am really liking your style and taste in music. if you dont mind me asking. how do you have your camera set up and what kind is it and how do you have your mixer settins for your toms on your mixer?.

@MnMTnS thanks! I have a canon HFS100 camera placed on a small tripod on a wooden ledge that we have in our practice room used for storage. So thats how I get it elevated, it's pretty high up. Each tom is close-miced and we don't really use much EQ on the mixer. maybe a small low-boost but I'm not too sure, since my singer set it up. The idea is to get the toms sounding as good as possible first, and put as little effects and eq as possible to get a natural sound.

I've only watched 25 seconds of this video and I can already say that you're amazing xD first of all, great sound quality. Your playing was amazing, but you kind of played it "note for note" I would've liked it if you improvized alittle too, but at this reate I hardly care. What I also liked was how the camera shaked when you hit the base. It made the video have sort of a raw feeling to it.... idk.... Well thats the end of my long ass comment because if I go on I will start rambling.

We went through some lineup changes, and now have it just like we want it. Got a new singer who is really talented, only one guitarist. We are currently writing for our first EP. hey. Close. They are Evans EC-2 heads on the batter side. I use G1's on the resonant side. EC-2s are worth the money IMO, especially for birch kits.

all by ear. usually by the time I play the song, I've listened and air-drummed to it enough to pretty much know how everything goes, heh. Sometime have to practice certain sections to work it out. Sometimes I put the song in slow motion to hear really tricky parts.

I use Final Cut Pro. Pretty sure you can do it with iMovie, Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media player. google like "slow motion using (name of editing software)" and you'll find instructions probably.

yeah no overheads, just using the "bleed" from other mics to pickup cymbals. Not enough room on the mixer for overheads at the moment, but we are looking to fix that soon. Cymbal sound will greatly improve with overheads.
