"These dont work in the uk".. Or darkness surprisingly, moron.. Whilst TRAVELLING they are fantastic.. Also in the UK for example say you get lost, run out of charge on phone etc you can easily get at least 2.5 hrs more even in cloudy conditions.. Say you use the bag every day but don't use it to charge its always ready to go.. It's an emergency standby not for daily use.. It's never let me down.
Trust me these dont work as well as they say, here in the UK during a nice weekend of clear sunny skies and 25c temps it took the solar panel and the battery 2 full days to charge, and only gave a 75% charge to my iphone.
Maybe in the next 10 years they will do what they say on the packaging.
i love what u guys have here.. i do a lot of thru hiking.. like weeks at a time.. and alone at that so i have to pack extra light .. and a book bag or messenger bag would be difficult to take with me ontop of what i have.. do u guys make any kinda solar mat like a foot long i could unfold??

The intensity from the charger doesn't vary much because your devices are charged indirectly from the included battery which is charged by the solar cells. Modern batteries are very tolerant and they may even include a voltage selector switch.
What IS stupid however is knocking a technology that provides power without pollution!
This is stupid a phone need's to be charged on a specific voltage and on a specific intensity, it's ok to recharge your phone with data cable, infact even soo it's not realy ok, but that recharge type I'm shure that will reduce the life of your phone battery or your ipod or your laptop battery so think twice before you buy something like this. May be i'm not 100% percent shure. And secondly enyoy living with out all this gaget's.
Is there a backpack with solar charger in which I can put my video camera and my 15" laptop? If you know any please give a link. Or does Voltaic Solar Battery Charger Backpack work for me? I am looking for it and I am gonna buy it! Thanks!
The new briefcase model will charge a laptop. The backpack model charges phones, PDAs and smaller items. It is really amazing to see it in person and I'm looking forward to CES 2009 for the next gen of this product suite. Ilyce Glink
The Backpack models cant charge laptops. Only the Generator model (Briefcase one) can charge laptops and has a slightly larger battery pack and larger panel.

They really don't work that well. The solar panels are just not strong enough. Takes about 8 hours in full sun to charge the battery. Not worth it

There are a bunch of plugs that come with this backpack, so I'm sure you'd have a plug that works for your chargers.

What about a handheld gaming charger? Could this charge either a DS and/or a PSP?
