  • Most excellent. Summer of 1987.

  • @radioonemike The coolest journey that life ever took me on was indeed to follow the music trail of the eighties, ... with this tune nibbling tentatively at my eardrums. A significant piece from a most excellent band!

  • the lyrics are wonderful

  • Why isn't this on the HootersVEVO site yet? It's their best song! I remember staying up for hours one night to hear it in a local station's rotation when it first came out! ^_^

IIRC, they actually wrote this song BEFORE the Bakker and Swaggart scandals broke.

  • can explain my love for this, and im 15!!!

  • 0:42 is the best part. Just a split second clip you see the band dance playing their instruments. Shows how the 80's just rocked and how passionate music was. Sweet tune.

  • Awesome song and message!

  • eric is amazing

  • 1:23 29 people can't see the light

  • cool song................

  • 0 people don't like The Hooters

  • 27 people have no life!!!

  • 27 people dont know what music is!!!

  • I love it

  • Love this song and love the video that it takes the piss out of the money making preachers of god.

  • 0:45 LOL wtf?!?

  • I remember the Miami Vice episode...perfect fit!

  • Proud to be born in the 80s!!!!!!

  • @vertigo04 Was born on the Monday the 3rd of January 1972 - can I still join your 'Love This Song' Club?

  • @Blabloo72 The club is open to all ages, there's no drink minimum, and, most importantly, there's no cover charge. Also, all are welcome regardless of who they are and where they come from.

  • "If you fall, well that's okay." (Falwell lol)

  • 2:02

Is that me, or that kid has Instahype powers? :)

  • @TheVintagePL its just you

  • Great social commentary video and a superb song by the ever so talented Hooters!!!Thanks for sharing this one!!Hearing this makes me wish the 80's never ended!!

  • i want one of those keyboards

  • Wish I was born in that great 80's era

  • @martijnjanssen1967 Also note the old people in the background from the painting 'American Gothic', who sort of represent the 'old values' of the US. They now look in shame and disgust upon what has become of their legacy.

  • @bryanpc Yeah and I think it's also the "old values" of Christianity. Their look says, "These people are doing THIS in the name of religion?"

  • JULIA ROBERTS HOUSE SEX MUM KEPPER BANK TV AERIAL BRAZIL SEX CLUB

  • its kind of sad to see what good music there was and what music there is now, what happened? can't we bring this stuff back in stead of Rnb crap nd rap.

  • @xenawp5 I have noticed if you move around Youtube looking up 80s music these types of comments appear regardless of what artist you are listening to. Its probably one of the few times Hooters, Blondie, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Motley Crue and A Ha fans agree on musical taste. Personally I couldn't agree more, I have given up listening to commercial radio stations now that modern music is so unappealling to me.

  • I didn't notice it until now, but the phone number flashed on the screen, if you look at the phone, equals 1 800 HOOTERS (among other things, I guess) ;)

  • @martijnjanssen1967

Unfortunately, these types are still around. Only their chosen media has changed. :/

  • gotta love the Hooters!

  • God would have a great sense of humor if he played this song to everyone who enters that tunnel after their life is over. I would become a hardcore christian if he did.

  • @FallusInferior Wow, I hope the Almighty alters His schedule so He can let you enter into, what did you label it as?! 'That Tunnel'? Wow, how ignorant can you possibly be, not knowing His Word, I'm quite sure a whole lot more!!! And if you didn't know, most of the Hooters band were Christians with Christian beliefs, listen to a few of their other songs, like "All You Zombies"

  • @LollipopMonkee Whats so hostile to christianity or god, that you would like to see an afterlife (if there is one) with humor? What are you? Are you some kind of westboro baptists fundamentalist? Erm..nevermind. You know what? You're absolutely right. I burn bibles, rape nuns, bomb churches because im some satanic cult member. Hope to have helped you to order you're narrow mind. Now do me a favor and dont reply.

  • Three stooges FTW great song too :D

  • This looks like it was directed by Godley and Creme!

  • Superb band. This song popped up in Miami Vice Season 3 which I am watching through at the moment.

  • surprised those punk asses on glee havent ruined this yet

  • @VillaJoe101 Don't give them any ideas!

  • @VillaJoe101 HAHAHA Good one !! Greetings from Panama

  • @VillaJoe101 We must hide this song, lest it suffer the same fate at Journey :)

  • God bought me a satellite too,............. can't get channel 5 on it tho.

  • very good

  • This is real music !

  • aren't there any remixes???

  • God bought me a satellite. Im pretty sure. Hey, I had this real creapy dream of these people swimming in this river near my house, its muddy, but in my dream it looked blue and many were just floating down it. Somehow i got into it. Its scary the rest. I got leeches on me and came out from it threw a tunnel like a sewer, got rid of the leeches. . many were in it. I know what it means, it really scared me. The leeches sucked out the poison the sin. For real. No joke. needed to tell someone.

  • 23 people jumped in the river and failed to swim.

  • YYY, is this world so evil., i allready know,. i just wanted to say, IM pissed off.. I try my best to spread the Word, God boutght me a sattelite. I promise YOU.

  • that ugly b*tch dissgusts me

  • Yes, TV evangelists have certainly blown it for many sincere people - I can listen to the song and watch the video with a spoof mentality - But sadness is in my heart for those who were lead down the wrong road by them - to sin is easy - even if that is not your initial intention.

  • what is about this song ( im not english) ?

  • @marcjusz : It´s about an satellite :o)

  • Televangelists disgust me. They give a bad name to Christianity and all Religion for that matter.

  • @gsleith lol people like you make me get the trololololo song stuck in my head, and I thank you for that.

  • @adamguy911

Christianity and all Religion disgust me. They give a bad name to Televangelists.

  • weird clip...

  • Comment removed

  • great stuff,..Hooters....yep!

  • iconic video, great production and interpretation of the music, surprised it passed the USA sensors. Great take on the industry that is religion. Yeeehaa! $100,0000 will not buy you the keys of heaven but it will buy you a Rolls Royce!

  • Am I the only one who finds that cartoon woman putting on lipstick at 0:28 REALLY freaky?

  • @Aiwenil Oh no!

  • Oh no!

  • @Aiwenil no

  • @Aiwenil i think you're supposed to

  • @Aiwenil personally I find the woman with the MASSIVE grin and wide eyes a lot freakier.

  • @Aiwenil They're all freaky. Weird All couldn't do it better!

  • "So jump in the river and learn to swim

God's gonna wash away all your sins

And if you still can't see the light

God's gonna buy you a satellite"

A great description of the way into faith, and i interpret these lyrics as truly Christian, but maybe you have to know a bit about Christianity and have been thinking about spirituality and religion some to understand.

  • Feeling foolish - loved catchy tunes of The Hooters, and adore Joan Osborne. I just didn't realise until today that Eric Basilian is the common theme! Doh!

  • Love it love it LOVE IT!!!

  • Hey it's Mrs garret and Jo from Facts of life at 1:40! :)

  • @MyYTFaves Wow good catch! I had to super-slow-motion to see that.

  • Great song....

Last day at the legendary "great 208" Radio Luxembourg!

  • @4700Thomas GOOD OLD DAYS TOP DRAW RADIO STATION YOUR SPOT

    ON

  • grande

  • Just awesome

  • Just awesome

  • Only recently jus found this tune. Didnt even know it existed. Catchy as hell. Love it

  • MEDUNO TIMO DE VIDEO...

    UNA MIERDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

QUE NO SE OLVIDE QU EENGAÑAR EN UN TIMO Y VOTAE PARA QUITRLO

  • I don't know if anyone has bought it up, but the video is similar to the "Jesus, He Knows Me" video by Genesis. Genesis may have seen this video first.

  • @AndrewNewZealand nah dont think so

  • choon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song

  • Really should be in Rock Band or GH!

  • Love it still.

  • this song really should have been the lead single off this album; it was a lot more radio friendly than the chosen lead single (johnny b) and every bit as topical.

  • So much love for this, awesome song, terrific blend of synth pop and guitar 'power' chords, awesome video. Not an attack on religion as some have claimed but an attack on the excesses of televangalism, love the little girl, she's SOOOOOO cute and you get the impression that thankfully she doesn't buy any of this and her American Gothic parents are starting to think the same way

  • online Asian wives ***lushfmlk.info***

  • Can some please tell me what this song actually means?

Like what does it mean buy god's gonna buy you a satellite?

I might sound stupid saying this But i honestly don't understand lol

  • @ThRaX9119 I think the song has a clever double meaning. For the person sending their money to the televangelist, they hope it brings them material wealth. The Satellite referred to is the brand of car. Think also though the satellite can be inerpreted as the means televangelists can use to spread their word. Just my interpretation though, may be wrong.

  • Someone tell me where to get sheet music for these guys? I cant find it anyplace!

    Thanks in adnavce!!!

  • Ah yes, "Should ya "Falwell", that's okay."

  • THIS SONG HASN'T SHAKEN MY FAITH..I'M A STRONG CHRISTAN..AND I THINK THE HOOTERS ARE GREAT

  • @1942PANTHERV I dont think they were trying to shake your "faith". The band was making a statment how corrupt organized religion is in general and how gullalbe and blind people are to follow something that has no proof of it's existance.

  • @saganhill theres an old saying that is still very true today..there are no athiests in foxholes

  • @1942PANTHERV I disagree. They ALL cry for their Momma. God is a man made idea for gullable people who have nothing but need to feel their life is "full". Waste of time. People need to get out of the 7th century and start acting like rational adults.

  • @saganhill .......4 yrs ago.....3 juvs..2 boys and a girl........took thier "SUPPOSED" BEST FRIEND INTO THE WOODS IN THE CITY OF PHILA....NEAR THE DEL RIVER......THEY WERE BORED..AND EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THE LAW SAID IT WAS A CRIME THEY HAD NEVER BEEN TAUGHT MORALITY...SINCE THIER PARENTS DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME....AND RELIGION..WHICH TEACHES MORALITY..IS NO LONGER TAUGHT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.....SO THEY HAD HAMMERS AND AXES..AND BASHED IN THIER FRIENDS HEAD.....WHEN THEY WERE ARRESTED..

  • @1942PANTHERV So teaching christianity in schools will solve everything? Now I have heard everything. Who the hell made you the religion police? Suppose I do not want my kids being taught such a cult? You're an idiot. An irrational one at that. Why not come join the 21st century? There is no grey haired old man who lives in the sky. Trust me....

  • @saganhill ......NO THEY JUST MADE ME THE GUY WHO HAS TO GO OUT EVERY DAY AND DEAL WITH THIS SCUM EVERY DAY......NO MORALITY....NO RESPECT..NO NOTHING....MAYBE ONE DAY LIBERALS LIKE YOU WILL WAKE UP AND REALIZE..IT DOESN'T WORK.....

  • @1942PANTHERV THat is total bullshit. Religion has done more harm and is responible for the most horrible crimes in human history. The Spanish inquisition, the Crusades, Salem which trials, Slavery, and the killing of millions, all in the name of a non-existant god. Christianity has brainwashed millions into thinking that there is a god and he will save all of us....So far he has done a shitty job.

  • @saganhill ......am i denying history??..sure has killed millions....every religion, has because of some men using it for thier own purposes....but it's also done incredible good. some day maybe you'll be touched by it....

  • @1942PANTHERV How can I be "touched" by something that doesnt exist? Once you are rational, maybe you can see this little tidbit of info.

  • @saganhill well only difference between humans and animals is that humans have ceremonial burial of dead people... --- that mean religion, or centre for religion in human brain created by outside intervention...

  • @udical You are totaly wrong. Elephants have areas they use to "bury" their dead. Dolphins also have this behaviour. Hundreds of other species do also.

Religion was created by man to enslave other men. Note the hirarchy of religion. Some people live way better than others in the name of this made up god. They use this made up god to wage war, enslave other people, kill, rape, pillage, and do other unspeakable things to less fortunate people or unbeleivers.

    Simple god=simple minds

  • @saganhill nope they do that just to protect traces, but u will see that they will not put any mark there, they will not bow, they will not do anything outside anykind of their normal move... not even one move, they can cry, they can feel sorry, they can bury them but not even one move looking to sky or something similar, or stand above grave, or to put something in grave

  • @udical And that has to do with?...

You're making no point other than you're trying to validate your faith by making shit up. There is absolutly no proof of any "grey haired old manthat lives in the sky". Faith is not fact and I have no idea where fundamentalist get that from other than trying to validate something thats not real.

  • @saganhill that has do with that we are not animals, we have centre for religion in brains, that s fact, and animals don t, thats whole and only diference, beside that gray old man called god, who knows how he look... i totaly agree that today religion do t present god very well today... some religions like muslims tend to devolve nations from progress also, religions are not perfect but jesus is good person he told best things

  • @saganhill ..THEY STILL COULDN'T SEE THAT WHAT THEY HAD DONE WAS WRONG

  • @1942PANTHERV THat has nothing to do with religion. THat has to do with bad parenting skills.

Religion doesnt teach morality. As an athiest I know the difference between right and wrong and know that bashing a humans head in is wrong.

Your analogy is so bad it borders on the insane.

  • What did Jesus say? "Beware false prophets, for they shall make money in my name"?

I tell you, if He ever comes back, these bastards will be the first to go.

"It is written that my father's house shall be a place of prayer! But you have turned it into a den of thieves!"

  • @RamBam3000 How very Christian that would be then. Would He have them killed? What a knob you are.

  • @RamBam3000 "If"...you and every human will be waiting for a LONG time... LMAO ...There is no more a god than you have cable TV coming from your ass...

  • up you religion

  • I wish that people would stop preaching on music videos, just listen to the song!

  • A song (and group for that matter) a little ahead of its time. Would have a been a major hit during the alternative 90s.

  • They hit the nail on the head with this one. Power on. Excellent song.

  • is that linda hamilton?

  • @sproggens No, it's Michael Keaton.

  • oh just read your comments, just thought it was a great song......didnt get the deeper meaning thins/messages and still a proud christian...

  • Old school PHILLY classic! Hooters will ALWAYS RULE!!! :-)

  • used to love this song, pity none of their follow up singles made an impression here in the UK

  • Nobody remember No Limits in the UK big song then Jenny powell one of the presenters magic song though

  • the girl is so cute (:

  • I was so busy watching the Three Stooges clips i missed what the rest of the video was about!! whoops - great song though ;-)

  • I think the spazzed nature of this video helps the song. I love it! Though I think Eric is having waaaaaaay to much fun with it. : D LOL.

  • Wow, I love this song even more now than I did back in 1987. It holds up incredibly well.

  • "he's chosen you to do his will/you can spread the word in your Coupe deVille"

    love the sarcasm!

  • My favorite Hooters album! "One Way Home"

  • I like these guys and their lyrics. It's about God.

  • My sister (who was quite religious at the time) used to love this song...until I suggested she listen to the lyrics. She didn't speak to me for months after that... What a great song, will forever be one of my favourites (along with And We Dances - the Hooters were awaesome back in the day).

  • @crudewarrior

lol she should've been hanging out warbossworm (see comment from that person below)

lol - "who cares - don't listen to the words just bop up and down and enjoy the SONNNNNG" ;)

this song was so good on miami vice with that episode of the money hungry preachers at odds with one another.

  • @crudewarrior Trying to figure out how she thinks its anti Christian

  • @crudewarrior

What was her objection to it ?

  • @crudewarrior Has she forgave you for you sins and talked to you yet? that is a funny story. I love this song along with all you Zombies.

  • Absolutely ORSM..............

  • Awesome song, was it really that long ago!

  • Amen, send money.

  • I heard this song once, back when I was about 17- a little over 20 years ago. It's stayed with me. No idea why I dsecided to look for it now, but I love it every bit as much as I did then. Great satire, great song. WIN!

  • I just luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv this.

  • Great lyrics !

  • Timeless - Wheezer could cover this.

  • vastly underrated satire on televangelism

  • come on ppl stop fightin about church and war and just enjoy the song for god's sake

  • @FunkyAxl11 I like what you say.

  • @starncat

thank you, they just act very naive when they should enjoy the song

  • This music is the best!

    (btw i'm 16)

  • @Nielsjes1234

Great to see more people of my age loving this music instead of today's crap :)

    Check this out: /view_play_list?p=71BC29F79EAEBA9B

  • @Renderclippur I hear ye :D I'm 24

  • i can remember listening to this track when i was much younger and loved it, just thought about this tune and had to key some of the lyrcs into google to find it.. glad i did :) takes me back :)

  • they definately are no better because of Phat Opran and her pro lesbo agenda.

  • just shows again why the 80's were awesome compared to the drivel of the last 20 years

  • the songs okay.... but the fact that it's the wierdest video I have ever seen, makes it one of my favs

  • Just like I respect Ray Davies views on life, my hat's off to you Eric and Robbie for your views on religion. From "All You Zombies" to "Satellite" I have enjoyed your tongue in cheek points in both songs.

  • did you know god goign to buy you a satilite

  • people start wars not religion. people cause all the nonsense thats happening, people-not religion

  • @komyokan1 people IN the name of religion.

  • @komyokan1 Eh no ! if we all just lived our lives creed and culture fine but a silly god !! I dont think so.

Religion is a figment of mankinds insecurity to his very existance ????

  • @peak45 and your point is? people are responsible for war, not religion or god. people are responsible for global warming, not religion or god. people are responsible for pollution not religion or god. im not defending religion or god, im just saying it like it is. religion is an excellent tool for those in power to divide & rule, even the church itself plays this game.
