  • whenever i try to get Duane's tone, i generally use a tremolo fx. i also put my re-verb around 6, and my treble all the way up, to get that echoe rockabilly effect

  • Very Good!

  • Hi , I love Duane Eddy sound and I try to learn or to know how or what kind of Echo his used or yourself . Thanks Mike

  • eh.....this doesn't really give any serious idea about the guitar..you're playing single notes, is all..it's a pretty git-box, but how does it really sound if you actually play it?

  • @beezerk1

eh..He played it that way because .that's how the song goes. What part of that don't you get?

  • Class act man!

  • where did you get that guitar i've been looking for it all over but it only seems to be sold in the u.k. seriously i'd kill for that guitar!

  • Love the beat to that song...nice job here! Try both pups and make the sound brighter...you've got a big hollowbody there!

  • maybe mr Duane couldplay in mexico soon

  • As a luthier ( maker of guitars) I can reliably inform you that the part of the guitar you are trying to refer to is called the "Head" or "Peg Head". " Headstock" is an engineering term for part of a lathe!!!! Adrian Turner

  • @atthings Terribly sorry mate, the headstock "is" the peghead. The part of a guitar which holds any tuners, machine heads and the truss rod cover on some guitars. Don't believe me, ask a luthier.

  • Using the wrong pick-up - garbage sounding track - probably thru a transistor amp - low-volume sound has no balls, no feel

  • Nice ax, man! A real beauty ! I've got '67 6120 still cranking..gold plating is a little worn :- ]

  • I see some comments about 'best guitarist' 'bullshit' and so on.. Yes I too comment on how good guitarists are.. but lets not forget.. the object is to play MUSIC!.. and that has very little to do with how 'good' you are and everything to do with sincerity and conviction.

  • Brings back memories from my early teen years, but Tommy Emmanuel he aint.

  • Perhaps (maybe?) he should change the Strings. The Sound is "verwaschen" not "Groovy" He plays really brav! Regards from Switzerland. Sorry aubout my English!

  • Sounds Like Crap ... sry

  • Well it might be the best GRETSCH in the world. But he can't play like Hank Marvin.

The best guitars might come from America. But the best guitarists are right here in England.

  • Sorry, he's not playing a Gretsch at all, but a "Peerless" copy, with lackluster pckups.

  • bullshit

  • Of course it is Bull shit. The best guitarists are now coming from Japan, Thialand and places like that. But we all have our opinions and my opinion is that Hank Marvin is the best guitarist that ever lived. Even now in his old age, he can still come out of retirement and play as well as he ever did.

  • You have to have the Dynasonic pickups to get anywhere close to Duane's sound. He originally recorded it on a standard six-string...not a baritone guitar. You've gotta break down and get yourself a Gretsch if you want to replicate the recording. Check out a Gretsch G6120DSV.

Oh, I don't know about that. I think a cheap old Dearmond can get you pretty darned close as well.

  • Peerless = Gretsch. It's the same. Peerless produces guitars for Gretsch.

  • Not on THIS planet! Unless you're trying to delude yourself cause you own one.

  • Nearly every Gretschproduction ist a Peerless, they later put the "Gretsch" on it. It's true, you can google it.

  • True. But only for the NON pro models (such as 5 series). They also produced some epiphones (Broadway). Pretty good overall for the amateur but not quite the quality of a Terada, or Fuji Gen Japan top versions...Just try the 5120 and the 6120...They are very different (then again this is normal as the 6120 is 3 to 4 times the price of the 5120)

  • again true for electromatics but nowhere near the pro versions. I have tried both and although the electromatics (peerless) are respectable guitars they are not of the same league at all...

  • I think You are pretty close to sound You want. Please, tell me is this model good for straight jazz (Joe Pas, etc). Where I can buy Peerless guitar in Europe.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

Try picking closer to the bridge and it should give you more twang...Also, fool around with the tone controls on the amp.

  • Just some constructive criticism: all of your picking were downstrokes. Try using alternating picking with your right hand, you will be a much more efficient player.

  • nice tone

  • First instrumental I ever played, on a guitar I made myself at the age of ..I forgot!! I am still playing it 50 years later, here in Spain. The song, not the guitar!! Hahaha!! I loved Duane Eddy.

  • Very good! I can't get the twang either because I don't have a custom-made Gretsch Baritone guitar. Gibson and Guild also provided Duane with baritones. He used a baritone guitar almost exclusively on "Twangs the Thang" album.

  • I think that you'll find that some of the Twistin'N'Twangin' album are also played on a baritone (Walkin'n'twistin')

  • Very good job! The Sax too.

  • is that guitar modeled after the G5122?

  • It's very similar to the G5122 but I think it came out before that model(but could not swear to it) and it's also made by the same people who make the Electromatic Gretsch's. As far as I can see the main difference is in the headstock shape!!

  • Thanks for your comment. gratefully recieved.
