Viral videos can work against your cause as well...
So far all I have seen is spin. Like this, for instance. There are videos released showing the protesters inside the lobby. They might have EVENTUALLY closed their bank accounts (because that's all they wanted to do...right?) but they were too busy shouting over Citibank employees and disrupting business on private property. That, my friends, is the very definition of trespassing.
They were *repeatedly* ASKED TO LEAVE, and they STAYED, and so the manager called 9/11. At that point, they were all involved in criminal trespass. The police told the bank to lock the bank down, because it was obvious they weren't going to leave. You don't get to barge into a place of business and harass the employees. That's not in the Bill Of Rights.
I lost all respect I had for the New York Police Department! I don't see them as professionals anymore! They answer to the bankers and the corporate elite. I can't believe NYPD are stupid enough to fall for the rich man's bullshit. What did the bankers promise you? Did they promise you to take you along with them as they get richer and richer? You people [NYPD] are the most gullible idiots I ever seen! These rich people don't give a fuck for you flat footed doughnut eating pot bellied suckers!
the rapid spread of misinformation is making this world a dumber place..
check the video on my page and see why they really got arrested. a little effort to do some research goes a long way when commenting on things you don't have the correct details on.
Its gonna be really funny when the pigs lose their pensions and are protesting and the private security forces come in and beat the shit out of them and take them to jail. Just a matter of time pigs.
Citigroup Inc. on Wednesday agreed to pay a $285 million fine to settle civil charges brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission that it sold securities backed by mortgages that it simultaneously bet against.
The regulator alleged that Citigroup Global Markets structured and marketed a $500 million collateralized-debt obligation that was backed by subprime loans, and then bet against those mortgage-related assets, which it didn't disclose to investors.
@Annihilate3275 ... they pay $285 million for committing a fraud that netted them billions? They still come out ahead. People should be imprisoned, and not for just a few months, and not in one of those Madoff country clubs. Real, bigboy prison, hard time with wouldbe gangstas. They have done FAR more damage to society than any of them apart from maybe a bigtime heroin smuggler.
“We reserve the right to require seven (7) days advance notice before permitting a withdrawal from all checking, savings and money market accounts. We currently do not exercise this right and have not exercised it in the past,” reads the manual.
lol...would they rather us citizens beat the piss out of them when they get rowdy while I am at my bank?!!?! when I get inconvenienced by THEM?!?! then its....waaa, I got beat up and there were no police around to protect me!!
Pick up A Chair Hit The Guard who Locked the Door, Then Throw his/Her Body Through the WINDOW !!!= (Self Defense) .... Unlawful Detainment !! By NON Police IS KIDNAPPING CHARGE THEM WITH IT !!! (You Can Charge A Police officer with Wrongful Arrest as well ) Sue Them FOR THEIR PROFITS !!! Class Action Style ..
Outfuckingrageous... What will they charge them with... closing a bank account?!?
Citibank is terrified, and well should be. Piss off the American people and you will lose. Let them try to arrest thousands, thousands more will step up.
Citibank Public Affairs issued the following statement regarding today's incident: "A large number of protesters entered our branch at 555 La Guardia Place around 2:00 PM today. They were very disruptive and refused to leave after being repeatedly asked, causing our staff to call 911. The Police asked the branch staff to close the branch until the protesters could be removed. Only one person asked to close an account and was accommodated."
Can you see who is really in charge now? It's not the government.
Let Citibank and the other big financial institutions know how you feel about this! Don't deposit! If you have to store money, put it in a bank safe deposit box.Don't let these banksters take our money, invest it and enrich themselves, and then screw us over!
youtu. be/l2vtXJ0k7AA (copy link a delete the space before the "be") Here is Video from inside the bank (if the caption is correct) Though the protest is nonviolent, it is disruptive and on private property. And it seems they were NOT in there JUST to Close Their Accounts.
And on Monday, thousands will withdraw their money, and a run on Citibank will be caused. If they did not arrest these people, then this mass withdrawal would not have gone viral.
@dangerouslytalented I agree the #OccupyCitibank movement needs to be swift and merciless. Their business has just lost the right to operate. Shut them down!
@FreedomForever2010 Destroying Citibank might not be the best option. They are one of the "too big to fail" banks, and if it fails, it could set up a domino effect throughout the economy. Scaring the fuck out of their management is. Forcing them to take massive personal pay cuts, to renegotiate all those underwater mortgages, and getting the worst criminals to step aside in favor of all those honest employees who were forced to resign, THAT is what must be done.
@dangerouslytalented Its now Tuesday... what happened? The problem you face is that a bunch of college kids cant withdraw anything. They dont work and have no money. The worst they can do is ask Mom to withdraw her $ out of the bank... LOL

I really don't think the bank security guards have the authority to lock anyone in. They CAN NOT keep you from leaving if you want to leave.
