I have adored Karens voice for decades, during her life and unfortunately afterwards, there was a running joke in the eighties of which I shall not mention here out of respect for this talented family. But let us all be reminded by this haunting, yet beautiful voice that you don't have to touch anyone to abuse them . You don't know how this woman's voice and life could've been so much more if it were not for demeaning and disparaging words by one so close to her.OHHH rest in peace Sweet Karen.
Such a beautiful song. She was an incredible talent. Thank you so much for providing it for all of us to listen to. Very well done. As usual. Another home run by the uploader.
I've tried for years to understand why Karen was taken from us so young. When one listens to this, it becomes clear. God missed her and wanted her home!
What a beautiful song, sung by one of the worlds greatest female voices. God bless her soul. Every song she sang was sung with passion and perfection every time with out fail. Superb
karen's voice has never sounded lovelier. i love how sometimes she sounds like a little bird, like when she says the word "do" at the end of "what must i do" beginning at about 2:58. so pretty.

There must be a video of her singing this song somewhere....only if WMG would let it be released to U-tube...but they would probably deny that request as copyright infringement. So its lost for all time or until the copyright expires, 25 years...and the 25 years is up now.
@marleneg55 ----You hit it right on the head marlene. Some of her songs have a spiritual religious quality. I am tearing up listening to this song, even though I have heard it many times before. Only 2 people affect me this deeply---Karen and Alison Krauss. Check out Alison on youtube "A Living Prayer". Such purity of voice . It resonates with your soul!---Gr8gildy
@karenaperville There is no video of Karen singing this song. I used the video of Karen singing "Ave Maria" to create this video. This song was not released until a year after Karen's death.
@NedNickerson2010 Thanks for the clarification; I was completely unaware of an Ave Maria video. If that's the case, the imagery really fits Little Altar Boy, too.
I read that Richard Carpenter believes her vocals on this song showcase her voice better than anything else she ever did. I personally would have trouble picking!
I remember being terrified of this song as a child, and yet I had to listen to it because I thought it was beautiful. Many years later I get the same feelings listening to it. Hauntingly gorgeous.
@guitargeekette I know what you mean... I still get goosebumps with different parts of it, particulary the very last verse... It amazes me that she was just 28 years old when she recorded this.
