Piers appears to be out of place in america's got talent, probably because he's english, as well as the fact that he seems to have a relatively higher intellect, mentality than the general american level, which is relatively stupidly low. Britain's got talent, despite being the same kind of mainstream and commercial show, manages to create a more eloquent and sophisticated athmosphere, perhaps, in this case, due to probable mental differences between the 2 cultures.
