  • How bloody rude of Rutherford and Collins to walk off when another member of the band was making his thank you speech!

  • Was hoping tony banks would also say something.

  • Great ! quality cam

  • If soemone happens to like pop music because is easy listening and makes them forget about everyday life, ok thats a reason, that is taste. I dont like mass media inducing people to like things "just because".

  • @mikeao54 that is not respect is just jealousy, You can like wathever you like, but having taste depends on knowing why you like It. I doubt you like someone music because they get pay more than you. My critisism is because I saw disrespect towards hackett especially from Tony Banks, mybe I exeded in insulting the other two, after all Collins is a good guy (And Mike hasnt done anything worth of comment)

  • Curiosamente Anthony Phillips toca en el ultimo album de Hackett

  • Phil Collins is getting Old, an old fart, Mike Rutherford is a Failure, Tony Banks is a dick and a prepotent bastard, Steve Hackett look like he is in his 30's and Peter Gabriel is one of the most prominents artists, had done many masterpieces as Ovo, Up, and The Passion. So you have this three stooges that are a complete shame and a Guitarist that still can think and look like any young muscian. Peter dont need genesis anymore, and Hackett is more progy than Genesis

  • @bemersonbakebarmen Gee whiz! you really hate Mike, Phil, Steve and Tony I dare say there are few people who could write the number of great songs that they have written. It's a shame that you are one of the tragically hip who can't see the talent in songs like "land of Confusion, Turn it On Again and In the Air Tonight (which by the way, Ahmet Etegun considered one of the best pop songs ever written) by the way Genesis got back together once to bail Peter out financially. Develop an open mind!

  • @mikeao54 Turn It On Again was in the last good album of genesis, just before entering the pop stage, Duke was not great, but wasnt bad either. In the Air Tonight is the only phil collins song that I can lisent but I love IT.

And Land of Confucion is chesee, I cant stand It. I even find Disturbed version better LOL.

And the problem with an open mind is that people try to put everything in there, Maybe if you knock I would open

  • @bemersonbakebarmen Well I have an open mind there are plenty of groups and musicians I dislike but I don't slag them off on line because they have succeeded where millions of others have failed. I played drums for 30 years and even thought I have seen guys who were not as good as me with better gigs. They are better than me.

do you know why? because they are making a living at music.

  • Mike Rutherford needs his head examined. He says thankyou Trey, thankyou Phish, WHAT A GREAT VERSION, MUCH BETTER THAN WE USE TO DO IT. Mike is wayyy out of line saying that the Phish LIVE version of Watcher of the skies is better than THE Genesis version. That is absolutly incorrect, utter nonsense. How can he say that with a straight face. He can't mean that! He should mean, WHAT A GREAT VERSION, MUCH BETTER WHEN WE USE TO DO IT.

  • Telling Phish that they sounded better than Genesis is sort of a Mike Rutherford standard compliment. He said the same thing about The Musical Box tribute band which is actually very true. I think it's time we all grow up and stop pining for a reunion. The tribute band I just mentioned has been recreating the original Gabriel era album tours for years. Shame on any Genesis fan who has failed to see them but still childishly clings to idiotic reunion hopes.

  • @setalip68

I've seen The Musical box 7 times, including 2 times doing The Trick of the Tail tour. They are awsome! Phish's version of Watcher of the skies is great. But, There is no way The Musical Box does the Selling England By the pound, Foxtrot, The Lamb Lies down on Broadway or The Trick of the tail tour better than the real thing. NO WAY. The full power is missing. Phish did a great job with Watcher and no reply at all, as good as you can expect, but way short of the real thing.

  • There will never be a complete Genesis reunion album and/or tour. Peter Gabriel's absence from this event has officially put the final nail in the coffin from the reunion ever happening.

  • Was Steve on speed or something? Dude can't stand still.

  • Having seen Genesis in Chicago a couple of years ago, and Steve Hackett's concert in Milwaukee a couple of days ago, I think I can say without question that Steve walks all over Tony Mike and Phil, both as a songwriter and a musician. My guess is that the fortune and fame that came to Genesis after Steve left made the remaining members less hungry, less driven, and less about the art and more about the money.

  • i have to say, i was hoping that The Musical box would play here, but obviously you have to count the trio years too, and we needed someone who were comfortable with the later records, but, heck, they got stuck with Phish? I mean, how about Ian Anderson? Greg Lake? Peter Sinfield? Anybody somewhat prominent?

-Im sorry for being such an arsehole about this, but i think Genesis deserves better...

  • @remnrone i can kind of see your point.

  • Glad that Steve made it. He was crucial to this band.

As far as Peter goes, what the RnRHoF really should have done is blackmail Genesis, saying that they only get inducted if Pete shows up!

  • Peter, you'll only be inducted this one time so get to the ceremony. It is odd that Genesis were voted in by music writers who never liked them very much in either their progressive or pop periods. They are better musicians than most artists in the HOF and sold lots of records in the'80s (solo and group) but it is hard to spot their influence on music today.

  • It's nice of Steve to stand behind Phil to give the impression he has hair. What a great guy. I suspect this meeting will lead to a lengthy reunion of epic proportions.

  • @Anothersatellite how do you know Steve has "hair"?

  • I think it's great that Phil mentions their first stateside manager, Ed Goodgold. Ed is a a great guy, and it's fantastic (and noteworthy) that all these years later, Phil still speaks well of him

  • love all the guys music past and present ,really looking forward to Steve's tour this summer .I am glad he is still going out and doing both Genesis music as well as his new album which is great .

  • Come on guys, could not at least mention Anthony Phillips for crying out loud?

  • Well, I did mention him in my comment 1 week ago (jimbun10) '... All my respects to the other Genesis guys, including Ant ...' Anthony Phillips was known as Ant, so he's not been totally left out of the band's glory ;-)

  • Also Peter not being there...BULL SHIT NO EXCUSE THAT BAND HE WAS IN WAS MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN ANY SOLO RECORDING HE MADE. He could of made it give me a break. It was 1 night for crying out loud...All that for a Peter cover song solo cd Peter lost a lot of devoted fans he made 4 decent cd's the first 4 ...So can eat it ....ok So was a good record...... still...Abba same complaint Agatha cant fly on a plane and if it crashed it would of been for a mighty cause

  • @MikeHirsh Maybe Peter doesn't care about awards. I personally can't stand most award shows.

  • The band seemed to distance themselves from Hackett which was sad to see as most fans are remembering his era (1971-77) not the pop years.

  • Great to see Steve Hackett up there, and look forward to seeing him on tour. Everyone has an opinion on the various lineups of Genesis, so I'll give mine: Peter was the face, and "artist" of the band, Tony Banks was the heart and soul. But Ant Phillips was very important in the early days, and I wish the others would have at least mentioned him.

  • Hear Mike!!! MUCH BETTER THAN OUR VERSION....:-) I think they need to give themselves more credit. They sure deserve it. They wrote the song not Phish.

  • Steve Hackett has truly carried on with the bands progressive roots and his solo music is and has been more Genesis than Genesis. To see him live and performing Genesis music from the 70s is a joy to behold, so catch him on tour in the US this summer. I know I'll be there.

  • It must be said that Steve still keeps some of those great Genesis moments alive till this very day. Therefore, I volunteer to cry out from the wuthering heights of Kong's tower to all early Genesis fans and followers of Steve's solo work not to miss out on his ongoing phenomenal gigs.

All my respects to the other Genesis guys, including Ant and Richard Macphail, and some I'm undoubtly forgetting to list here, without whom Genesis wouldn't have been... until there were three.

  • There's no doubt that Genesis deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, but for me, it's for the Hackett era (it all changed when he left, not when Peter went) and as a 30+ years fan of Steve, it's really for him I'm pleased at the induction. If you haven't followed his career since his departure, I recommend you do so.

  • @grundigradioboy This is simply the best Genesis comment I've ever read in years, grundi, you deserve more than thousand thumbs up for your wise and accurate reflections ...

  • maybe Im overeacting

  • This is the most awesome band in the world put their records together and you get a marvelous HEAVENLY BEAUTIFUL place...Trey I thought was UP THERE trying to explain it to them. THE BAND UP THERE SEEMED LIKE THEY WERENT EVEN IN A BAND...SHOCKING...THEM SEEMED DETACHED UNFAZED...PHIL TONY MIKE WERE JUST EMOTIONLESS ALMOST DEPRESSED HACKETT SEEMED DISTRAUGHT

  • I always get the feeeling that Phil is a little ashamed over the early albums, he seems to have a hard time embracing their cult.

He is and his solo career sucks

  • In all honesty I love Genesis since 1982, i truly believe Mike Tony and especially Phil need to seek therapy. You can see it on their faces they are hurting and confused. Phil Collins is a mess

  • Nice to see Steve Hackett 'back in NYC.'

Genesis got rich and famous after Steve left, but the music suffered.

  • Phil.."I get to do the dirty work" then Tony and Mike look at each other...! Classic

  • Is Phil Shrinking....He seems to be getting smaller....

  • @TVSOAP nah he's always been short

  • I really don't think that was a shameless plug. it was a plug, but he did it nicely.

I always get the feeeling that Phil is a little ashamed over the early albums, he seems to have a hard time embracing their cult.

  • Phil didn't like the mixes of the earlier albums and said some of the rehearsal tapes he said were better than the original mixes of the albums. His favorite Genesis album is The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (Tony Banks loves Foxtrot, Wind and Wuthering and Duke) so he doesn't hate all early Genesis. Phil is shorter now as he had back surgery to correct a disc he blew in his back on the 2007 Genesis tour. Peter refuses to do the reunions as he didn't like the reunions.

  • CHESTER!

  • that wasn't so bad - why shouldn't Steve say a few words? Didn't find it an ouch or a shameless plug.

  • That's OK- Steve got a plug in for his summer tour! ;)

  • Just love the camera work...this impression of them abandoning Steve Hackett up there at the end. Banks is like, oh gosh you actually have something to say?

  • @wscott16 That really wasn't very polite of them. Maybe Steve thought "Hey, what the heck, maybe they won't also notice the plug."
