lol no manual mode? @ 1:55 seconds there is PRND21 2 and 1 can lock you in lower gears if needed. Not that you do since it will do everything for you because it is an AUTOMATIC!
I have the 166 HP 2007 model. I've always been known as an agressive driver but I've been quite satisfied that this CR-V moves quite well. I wouldn't take it to a drag race, but I merge and keep up quite well with traffic. Besides...how much faster can you go on the freeway if the speed limit is 65 or 70 MPH? And with AWD, when there's a foot of snow on the ground and everybody is sliding off the road, I go straight ahead and get to work on time--HA!! HA!! It's a good car!!
@manuel21863 that was a very ignorant remark. just because an engine revs high does not mean its going to break quickly. four cylinders have their peak power around 4000 rpm so its normal to go up that high when power is needed.
@r81365 - Nissan Murano is a nice car, but much larger than the CR-V with a higher pricepoint, and not technically in this segment...large SUV v. compact crossover
Honda know what they are doing , the crv has good power for it's purpose .maybe Edmunds works for gm pushing Americans away from buying Asian cars lol
wow , ur hot chick , marry me and i will buy this honda as well . I had crushed before only on honda crv but does ur company have offers to get u with this honda . I gotta crush on u . Ur the intelligent brunnete which is scarce in the world these days , hahah .
the 0-60 times for this car are the same as a civic, corolla, and cruze, keep in mind that this car is much bigger and heavier. The engine is adequate just like the engines in all of those other cars i mentioned. Honda is very good at managing their power to weight ratio
I test drove this vehicle with just 7 miles on it and it felt like my brother's Jimmy GMC with 75,000 on it. Road noise was pronounced & horrible to listen to. IMHO anyone who drives on any road that has imperfections ( anyone NOT in the far western or southeast states) should steer clear if you value your sanity. As far as I could tell , riding in an empty wheelbarrow would make less racket. I appreciate Honda's reputation but that test drive blew it for Honda's chances with me buying it.
@polishoak275 Thats really a shame about the road noise (and thanks for mentioning your experience). Guess I'll stick to looking at a VW Tiguan or Subaru Forester.
still quicker than a RAV4 with the 2.5L and 4 spd auto, CX-7 with the base 2.5L, Forester with the base engine, and Equinox with the base engine. You have to compare it to the base engines in the competition, not their optional engines. Besides, most of the women who buy this car don't care about quick acceleration.
The CR-V is pretty good, does the job well, with the 180HP.. The only thing is, that it lacks the torque..
Hmm.. People complained about the the 166hp being low, so they raised it to 180hp... So, if people were to complain about the torque being low, would they raise the torque?
how is 180hp underpowered i think you guys are just used to driving the gas gusling American v6s and v8s. cr-v does a dam good job for being a 4 banger
for a 4 cylinder car, its not so bad as you might think. I've raced other cars while driving the cr-v. And beaten them at it... But then again, it always depends on how good the driver is..
@BaronvonRichthofen true, a little bit more horse would do the job, but handling wise, i think its one of the best of semi 4x4.. especially at corners at high speed. Even a Harrier doesnt handle as well as the Cr-v does. It may sound like im saying it just cause i own it, but generally speaking. And i think the size, and weight is just right.. Not too heavy, or too big.
underpowered eh........and you wonder why american car companies are going down for their overpowered vehicles.............fuel economy is key Edmunds.com
Why do they all say it lacks power? Just shut up and get a Bugatti Veyron or a Caterpillar 797F if you're not satisfied. Yeah, these two should be a lot more practical and fuel efficient than a CRV!
to get this pile of shit going you MUST put in first gear, at 42mph it will redline, you switch to 2nd gear, the 2nd gear on this pile traps at about 72mph, at which point you put it in drive.
(Don't try this at home, track only (for the professional driver).
I just bought my 2010. It is a 4 cyl engine. I agree it has plenty power for what it is and if I wanted anything more I would have got something bigger, but then I would sacrafice my fuel Milage. My EX-L is a rolling music machine with 4 wheel drive, a hitch, leather, heated seats, comfort, and close to 30MPG. Not to mention the safety of the vehicle. I love it.
Why do they keep saying underpowered on these reviews. I have one and it has more than enough power in the city, on hills and on the interstate. I have never had the gas pedal more than half way to the floor. Passing in the city or on the interstate is easy. I go from 50 to 80 in 4 seconds flat.
@flags6262 Most of the so-called expert reviewers have that thinking that they always need power no matter which vehicle they are in. Whenever they mash that right pedal, they expect their heads to be snapping. They must realize that saying underpowered is a purely subjective matter. Vehicles that get the job done are what's important after all.
@heder98 Amen!!! With reviews or most, you have to take with a grain of salt. Majority of buyers aren't going to treat it like a track car (like reviewers are). Heck, most people don't even know if they have 4 banger or V6. Another thing is, reviewers either whinne about not enough power or if it does it doesn't get good enough mpg. Its either or. Terrible. Cheers.
@MrLalasd dude, it's a crossover, why would anyone care about 10 secs? it's not meant to live on a dragstrip, and it has more than adequate power for its needs when climbing uphill or merging into freeways.
@MrLalasd If there was a v6 in it not only would you get more power but more millage because it will weigh less than 1000 pounds less than the pilot and so i have bought a toyota RAV4 v6 yesterday because it was cheaper than the crv v4! OMG
i think the engine is not underpowered depending on where you live and how you drive. it give me adequate performance, nothing less and nothing more.

I still don't like the front end styling and the interior is showing its age compared with other compact SUVs. Luckily a redesign is almost due.
