  • @scmm42 Sorry; my bad. The post on YouTube said 2006, but I know Rufus Thomas died sometime in 2001 or before that, so that definitely makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. =^)

  • Rufus would get a Grammy in my book for this 21 Century remake of this classic original of his; great stuff!!!!! By the way, WHO is that keyboard player? She looks like a hot woman from the neck up, but appears flat chested, which means she could be a he!!!!!!

  • @MrKillerjoe56 Technically this is a 20th Century remake since it was filed in 1989. The keyboardist is Philippe Saisse who is definitely male.

  • David is cookin!!!

  • cool beat !!!

  • Jesus said that we must become like little children in order to enter into heaven for such is the kingdom of heaven!! Rufus God sure loves you!!!!

  • Absolutlely Brilliant........

  • that suit matches his gums

  • Awsome, awsome, awsome. Today was my first time hearing Rufus on the radio. Inmediatily came here to watch him. God save Rufus!

  • I never knew Scottie Pippen played guitar

  • Good time music.

  • Why doesn't the great Don Alias on percussion get a mention?

  • That solo was so hip.

  • Great stuff... Keep on jammin Rufus;)

  • Just blew me away! It was so damn good. Don't here horns like that anywhere on the radio.

  • And the late, great Hiram Bullock on lead guitar. Its so obvious that he was enjoying himself tremendously.

  • great !!

so far about the topic:"old men are too old"

i know many young musicians who have not half the soul...

  • Love it! Love it! Thank you!

  • Such a pity that the man has left us!

    Love it!

  • He was the real thing, for sure...

  • AWESOME!! You gotta see him dance.

  • Omar Hakim on drums, Hiram Bullok on guitar, David Sanborn on sax, and the bass I think is Victor Bailey... awesome band!!!!!!!!! :-O

  • One of the greatest!

  • He looks like the butler from 'Fresh Prince' and the guitarist looks like Scottie Pippen!

  • he looks nothing like the butler you need to watch the shows again

  • I think it's the pompous faces he pulls throughout the song - Why are you being argumentative anyways? Also I notice that you didn't deny the fact that the guitarist is a ringer for Mr. Pippen

  • not being arguementative i just don't see the resemblance and i don't know who pippen is

  • lol

  • Rufus is cooler than cool...our 8 pc band still plays this in tribute to him.

  • The year was 1964.

Rufus was playing our small college in North Carolina. Asking for volunteers for "The Dog", my (now) wife hits the stage.

So there they are......Rufus and my girl friend.

    Doing the Dog.

Raised quite a stir in this Methodist school, but hey......we were young, and,

    it was Rufus Thomas.

    Great night.

    The man just ROCKED!!!!

  • What a cool ending on that tune. A toast to the King of Memphis. You ain't nuthin but a bearcat!!

  • Rufus just rules... no one ever topped him and no one will... he was just sooooo original.

    Thanks for posting, love it!

  • Rufus was Memphis royalty... Very much loved - and STILL loved - and missed terribly. He was Memphis' ambassador to the world. The funkiest man who ever lived and the world's oldest teenager. He had a sweet, jovial spirit and brought so much happiness to so many. I LOVE this version! Thanks for posting.
