@wacmac1 There not as different as you think, Dave use the same sort of scales as Clapton does in his playing, that Bluesy Pentatonic scale. He was influenced by Page and Clapton and uses it in his own playing. Sure Clapton can't play as a fast as Mustaine but the man is nearly 70 years old and Mustaine's playing is sloppy as hell most of the time. Hell listen to an isolated track of Mustaine's opening lead in Peace Sells and you'll know what I'm talking about. P.S I know Eric personally.

1. totally diffrent styles, Kerry King is more aggresive. more on the heavy side of metal. whilst kirk is more well not really melodic... just overusing the wah pedal and pentaonic scales and he is really repetitive in his solos.... and he isnt really that good.
2. not the same music, Slayer is Trash Metal.
metallica WAS metal..
3. its ultimately a personal choise but dont talk shit about the other one (unless its kirk)

1.-You don't spell "Trash metal" cause that would be an insult. it's spelled "Thrash metal", and Kerry King himself said that.
2.-You may not like Kirk Hammett but he's really good and if you knew what he actually plays and the theory behind it you would know that.
3.-Metallica created Thrash Metal with its first album "Kill 'em All".
Please watch some interviews and read a fucking book or something!

RE 2. he isnt really that good, sure he can play fast but who doesent? the theory? lets see... riffs can be good some times, but that is mostly James job. solos = repetitive, mostly just tapping and shredding.
RE 3. Dave mustaine wrote "kill 'em all" he said to metallica NOT to use his songs in the album when he got fired, they did not listen... i dont talk shit bout metallica just dont like them cuz they are liars and copywright everything.

We agree in the last point: without Mustaine there would be no thrash metal (in Anthrax's Scott Ian's words). @VendettaMax i kinda like kirk as a person, but not really as a guitarist. i like some of metallicas work (i never said i'm a metallica hater) but i really like almost everythin of Megadeths work. and i hope this will be a peacefull reselution, cuz fighting over this is kinda stupid :P

(and btw KK is Rythm guitarist not lead as kirk)
so most solos are played by jeff i think his name is.

My guitar teacher told me "you can be as good as Oasis, as good as Clapton if you like. But if you want to be REALLY good like Dave Mustaine, you must play for 10 hours a day and forget about girls."

@JackTheRiipperUK Ommmm no, he does not -not in any way.They are TOTALLY different in their style and approach and Clapton could NEVER play as intricately,or as fast as Dave.Clapton is a genious of sound,tone,songwriting and has been around for 20 more years.Yet he is quire predictablein his playing and he is playing american black Blues. Dave created hid own technique on his own and does not EVER claim to be GOD-you will think me a liar,but i know Dave personally.your post was way off man.

@wacmac1 There not as different as you think, Dave use the same sort of scales as Clapton does in his playing, that Bluesy Pentatonic scale. He was influenced by Page and Clapton and uses it in his own playing. Sure Clapton can't play as a fast as Mustaine but the man is nearly 70 years old and Mustaine's playing is sloppy as hell most of the time. Hell listen to an isolated track of Mustaine's opening lead in Peace Sells and you'll know what I'm talking about. P.S I know Eric personally.

In fact, Megadeth is probably the band that plays most acurately to the album versions in live shows! Dave's singing though is a diferent story, but the playing is awesome !!
