I just woke up. Suddenly I remembered the song . Though I was not born when this movie came, I saw this movie in late 70s in Doordarshan. What a master piece. All facets of the song are excellent.

Simply Outstanding. So many reasons:

Lyrics-unmatched. Surat hai mere sapno ki tu sohni jamuna hai tu hi meri mohini. How beautifully he explains to his wife that there is no other girl but his wife whom he imagines a glamorous mohini.

Dance-Who else can dance but sandhay on and below those big ringing bells with number of persons on them. Her face and eye expressions awesome.

Sorry I disagree with you on Sandya's dancing

Look again carefully at her feet, which appear to be flat through out.

Her body movements are not fluid and not in sync with the music.

Quite jerky at times ( see where she jumps from bell to bell)

Most knowledgeable classical dancers would rip her performance to shreds.

This is one of the few movies that had me completely hypnotized when I watched it as a child. Its as if I was transported to some time 200-300 years ago, and I felt difficult to adjust to 'normal' thinking for a couple of hours after the movie had finished. Truly haunting movie and music.

Navrang depicts Bharatiya culture from pre-islamic era and even during as Islamic times were dark, still was just a minor road block.

Movie shows pychological warfare that british brought in the continent - they had much negative influence on the culture.

Purity of heart and focus on life purpose is the hallmark of Bharatya sanskriti.

An absolute timeless masterpiece...one of the finest ever! C. Ramchandra at his very best.The orchestration is simply outstanding. The introduction of the guitar at the "yeh kaun gumhra jhamka.." virtually stops your heart.

It is amazing what C. Ramchandra has been able to achieve with fine fabric of Raga Malkauns around which this gem has been woven.

Excellent work of art, all around. This is an incredible complex number. Listen to the fine lyrics & watch closely the cinematography (look for the camera seeking Sandhya starting 5:33), enjoy Sandhya's incredible agility (look for that dance move at 4:55 - my knees hurt just watching it) and the music is especially fine. I especially enjoyed the rather modern guitar accompaniment starting 6:18. This is a true work of art.
